Miami Dolphins wide receiver Mohamed Sanu turned three targets into three catches for 39 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday. The 32-year-old has bounced around with many teams in his career, including the Falcons, Patriots, and 49ers. Signed by Miami less than three weeks ago, Sanu will look to use his veteran presence to compete for a roster spot. Through eight games last year, he totaled 15 catches and 177 yards. Regardless of whether he makes the team or not, Sanu won't see enough playing time to deem him fantasy relevant in 2022.
Veteran free-agent wide receiver Mohamed Sanu is signing with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, according to his agent, Mike McCartney. Sanu joins a crowded receiver depth chart in Miami that includes Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Cedrick Wilson Jr. and Trent Sherfield, among others. The 32-year-old caught 15 of his 24 targets for 177 yards and no touchdowns in eight games for the San Francisco 49ers last year. Sanu's best season came back in 2018 with the Atlanta Falcons, when he caught 66 passes for 838 yards and four touchdowns in 16 starts. He'll function as receiver insurance in Miami and won't be on the fantasy radar unless several injuries at the position open up playing time for him.
The San Francisco 49ers have activated Mohamed Sanu from the injured reserve ahead of this weekend's NFC Championship game. However, this does not mean Sanu will slide right back into his old role. Jauan Jennings has come on for the 49ers over the last few weeks and has proven to be a solid chain-mover for Jimmy Garoppolo. If Sanu is active on gameday, he would likely be used as a sure-handed option on third downs or near the red zone, but I wouldn't expect him to be anything more than the WR4 on the team and fifth receiving option overall, which makes him just a DFS dart throw if you're playing single-game showdowns.
San Francisco 49ers running back JaMycal Hasty (ankle) and wide receiver Mohamed Sanu (knee) both missed practice on Thursday. Hasty played 33.9% of the offensive snaps in the Week 9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, carrying the ball just one for a two-yard gain while catching three of his four targets for 11 yards. Even if he's available to play on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams, Jeff Wilson Jr. figures to serve as the third-down back behind rookie starter Elijah Mitchell. That will likely leave just scraps for Hasty, if he's active. If Sanu is forced to miss time, Trent Sherfield, Jauan Jennings and Travis Benjamin will battle for snaps behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. Sanu has 15 catches for 177 scoreless yards in eight games played this year.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu Sr. caught three of four targets for 59 yards in a 33-22 Week 8 win over the Chicago Bears. The veteran wideout saw his usage increase in Week 8, with Jimmy Garoppolo targeting Sanu at the third-highest rate across the entire offense. Sanu holds deep-league Flex appeal in PPR formats but is primarily a bench stash, if anything, at this point.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu caught three of six passes for 36 yards during Sunday's 30-28 Week 3 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The veteran wideout only saw one target in each of the team's first two games, while he saw six during Sunday's loss. However, he was targeted in clutch moments of the game, so Sanu remains a good bench stash in deeper leagues, entering a Week 4 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
Mohamed Sanu Scores A Touchdown In Week 2 Of Preseason
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu produced a five-yard touchdown reception during the team's 15-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night. The veteran wideout signed with the 49ers towards the end of last season but hardly saw any meaningful snaps, totaling just one reception for nine yards. However, Sanu split the defensive coverage in the end zone and cradled a dime from Lance that resulted in the team's first touchdown at the end of the first half. Sanu isn't relevant in fantasy drafts but could be a contributor in certain spots throughout the 2021 season, particularly due to his elite blocking on the perimeter.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Mohamed Sanu caught four passes for 32 yards with one touchdown and a two-point conversion reception in the Lions 41-25 loss to the Texans on Thanksgiving. The veteran got an opportunity with the injury to Kenny Golladay and was able to secure a pass from quarterback Matthew Stafford for a 14-yard touchdown late in the game. Sanu possesses very little fantasy appeal but could siphon touchdowns away from Golladay and tight end T.J. Hockenson in the coming weeks if he continues to see the field.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Mohamed Sanu was added to the active roster Saturday as the team deals with injuries to wide receivers Kenny Golladay (hip) and Danny Amendola (hip). Sanu appeared in three games with the 49ers earlier this year, but made just one reception for nine yards. Even with WR targets up for grabs against a Panthers Defense that has allowed a considerable amount of fantasy points to opposing wideouts this year, Sanu can likely remain on the waiver wire until he proves part of the week-by-week puzzle for Detroit. Aggressive fantasy managers in deep season-long formats will note that the Lions have a quick turnaround before playing again on Thanksgiving, giving Sanu a chance to establish a role with another franchise down the stretch.
The Detroit Lions signed wide receiver Mohamed Sanu to their practice squad on Friday. Sanu played in three games with the 49ers before being cut this year, catching his only target for nine yards. A third-round pick of the Bengals in 2012, the veteran receiver was traded from the Falcons to the Patriots at midseason in 2019, but he failed to live up to expectations for a New England team that needed more production from their receivers. Sanu had 59 catches for 520 yards and only two touchdowns in his 12 games with Atlanta and New England last season. With Kenny Golladay (hip) likely out this week and in danger of missing more time, the Lions brought Sanu in for more depth at the position. Expect Detroit to use three-receiver sets consisting of Marvin Jones Jr., Danny Amendola and Marvin Hall on Sunday against Minnesota.
