The Atlanta Falcons have signed linebacker Rashaan Evans to their practice squad, per Adam Schefter. The former first-round pick of the 2018 NFL Draft recently spent time in Dallas last season when he started nine games for the Cowboys but played a full 17 for Atlanta the year prior -- totaling 159 tackles. With linebacker Nate Landman (quad/calf) on injured reserve and Troy Andersen (knee) forced from the team's 26-24 divisional victory over the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta has sought veteran help. Landman is expected back "sooner than later." Still, there is uncertainty around whether Andersen will be able to suit up for the team's Thursday night matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If he can't, Evans will likely be signed to the active roster and soak up some snaps in the contest. The Falcons have other options at the position, but as of now -- Andersen and Landman are the only right-inside-linebackers on the active depth chart.
Free-agent linebacker Rashaan Evans has signed with the Dallas Cowboys practice squad on Thursday. The 27-year-old requested his release from the Philadelphia Eagles roughly a month ago. Evans left the Eagles practice squad in order to seek other opportunities elsewhere. A move to Dallas could be good for Evans with Leighton Vander Esch and Damone Clark both dealing with injuries. Last season, Evans recorded 159 tackles, four passes defended, and two sacks in 17 games with the Atlanta Falcons. He'll start out on the Cowboys practice squad, but could quickly be making an impact on the Dallas defense.
Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Rashaan Evans has been released by the organization on Friday. It appears the 27-year-old asked for his release from the practice squad. The former first round pick shouldn't have any issues finding a new home. He recorded 159 tackles and two sacks through 17 games with the Atlanta Falcons last season. His departure won't have an impact on the Eagles defense considering he was on the practice squad anyway.
Free-agent linebacker Rashaan Evans is in agreement with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year contract, his agency told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The former first-round pick spent four seasons with the Titans and now gets to reunite with Arthur Smith and Dean Pees, who coached him in Tennessee. Since being drafted, Evans has appeared in 59 games (50 starts), racking up 317 tackles, three sacks, three fumble recoveries and one fumble forced. Look for him to be a key piece of the Falcons defense this coming season.
Free agent and former Tennessee Titans first-round linebacker Rashaan Evans is visiting with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday, according to a source. Head coach Arthur Smith and defensive coordinator Dean Pees coached him in Tennessee. Evans took a visit to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. The 26-year-old fell out of the Titans linebacker rotation late last year and made only 11 starts in 2021, finishing with 57 tackles (35 solo), three tackles for loss, two interceptions and a fumble recovery. But Evans is still young and was graded out as one of the best tacklers at his position last year, so he could bounce back with whichever team he signs with in 2022.
Tennessee Titans free-agent linebacker Rashaan Evans is visiting with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night, according to a source. Evans lost playing time down the stretch in 2021 with the Titans and finished the season with 57 tackles (35 solo), three tackles for loss, two interceptions and a fumble recovery in 12 games (11 starts). But Evans is still only 26 years old and had a combined 128 solo tackles in 2019 and 2020 for the Titans. The former first-round pick (22nd overall) of the Titans in 2018 could easily bounce back with a change of scenery in 2022.
The Tennessee Titans informed Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for linebacker Rashaan Evans, that they will not be exercising his fifth-year option for the 2022 season "due to ongoing salary cap uncertainty and instead hope to sign Rashaan to a contract extension before his current deal expires in 2022." Adding another season to his contract would have cost the Titans $9.735 million in 2022. He signed a four-year, $11.577 million contract after he was taken 22nd overall in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. Evans started every game in 2020 and recorded 96 tackles, half a sack, one tackle for loss, four QB hits, five passes defensed and a fumble recovery. He has started every game the last two seasons, including four playoff games, and had 111 tackles in 2019.
Tennessee Titans linebacker Rashaan Evans had 139 tackles in his second season in the league during the regular season, and TennesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt expects Evans to take another step up in 2020. Evans also recorded 2.5 sacks and is expected to see more opportunities to rush the passer this season. The 24-year-old former first-round pick (22nd overall) in 2018 could be a star in the making for this solid Tennessee defense. Evans is definitely a riser on the defensive side of the ball and should be monitored closely in IDP leagues, especially if he gets off to a hot start. Tennessee's defense/special teams is on the fringe as a starting fantasy unit, but they should at least be in play for streaming at some point in 2020.
Tennessee Titans first-round linebacker Rashaan Evans (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Dolphins. With linebacker Harold Landry (ankle) also out, the Titans are looking a little weak in the interior for the season opener.
Tennessee Titans rookie linebacker Rashaan Evans was finally seen on the practice field with the team on Sunday following a long absence with an undisclosed condition. Evans was not practicing with the team, but rather doing a separate conditioning workout off to the side. Nonetheless, his presence on the field is a step in the right direction. His participation in team activities will be worth monitoring going forward, as he was drafted to be a major key in the middle of the Titans defense in 2018.
