Rodney McLeod News
The Indianapolis Colts are finalizing an undisclosed deal for former Philadelphia Eagles veteran safety Rodney McLeod on Friday, according to a source. McLeod suffered his second torn ACL in the last three years in Week 14 of last season, and he finished with 58 tackles (32 solo), two interceptions and four passes defensed in 13 starts in his sixth season with the Eagles. It's unclear if the 31-year-old will be ready for the start of the 2022 regular season. McLeod entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia in 2012, and he spent the first four of his NFL seasons with the Rams. In 10 NFL seasons, McLeod has 593 tackles (433 solo), 15 tackles for loss, two sacks, 16 interceptions, 52 passes defensed, 11 forced fumbles and eight fumble recoveries (two touchdowns) in 139 games (123 starts).
Philadelphia Eagles safety Rodney McLeod (knee) suffered a torn ACL in the Week 14 upset win over the Saints on Sunday and will miss the rest of the 2020 season. McLeod returned to the Eagles this offseason and the team departed with Malcolm Jenkins instead. The 30-year-old had another major knee injury in 2018, which limited him to just three games that year. McLeod was a top-50 IDP defensive back for the Eagles this year, recording 43 tackles, five passes defensed, one interception and two fumble recoveries in 13 games. It's bad news for an Eagles secondary that will face the Cardinals and All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins this weekend. Philadelphia's defense won't have much upside for fantasy managers as the fantasy playoffs roll on in Week 15.
The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed safety Rodney McLeod to a two-year, $12 million deal on Tuesday. The Eagles are set at safety with McLeod and Jalen Mills, which is why they didn't pick up the 2020 option for Malcolm Jenkins. McLeod missed most of the 2018 season due to injury, but he bounced back last year to start all 16 games and recorded 76 tackles (46 solo), two interceptions, six passes defensed and two forced fumbles. He's been with the Eagles the last four seasons, and before that he spent four years with the Rams.
