49ers Defense Could Lose Ziggy Ansah For Rest Of Season

The San Francisco 49ers fear that defensive end Ziggy Ansah (biceps) suffered a torn biceps in the Sunday night loss to the Eagles. Ansah was ruled out at halftime with an arm injury, and he would need season-ending surgery if the fears are confirmed by testing on Monday. If that's the case, Ansah would be the team's third outside pass-rusher to have been placed on season-ending Injured Reserve in the span of three weeks. All-Pro Nick Bosa (knee) is out for the year and Dee Ford (back) will miss at least the next three weeks. Ansah had no stats in the two games he was used in, mostly on third-down passing situations. The 49ers Defense will still be in play in a nice matchup against the Dolphins in Week 5, but after that they face a murderer's row in the Rams, Patriots, Seahawks, Packers and Saints.

49ers Defense Signs Ziggy Ansah

The San Francisco 49ers signed pass-rusher Ziggy Ansah on Wednesday and promoted defensive lineman Dion Jordan to the active roster after they placed defensive ends Nick Bosa (knee) and Solomon Thomas (knee) on Injured Reserve. San Francisco is bringing in some replacements with Dee Ford (back) also out for Week 3 against the Giants. Ansah and Jordan will try to pick up the slack alongside Arik Armstead, DJ Jones and rookie Javon Kinlaw, but the Niners defense lost the heart and soul of their pass rush with Bosa. It'll make them a little less attractive in season-long leagues, but the 49ers Defense is still worth trotting out there in fantasy lineups this Sunday against a Giants offense now missing Saquon Barkley and Sterling Shepard, arguably their two best offensive weapons.

Ziggy Ansah Expected To Sign With 49ers Defense

The San Francisco 49ers are meeting with free-agent pass-rusher Ziggy Ansah with the expectation that they will sign him after he goes through COVID-19 testing. Ansah has visited with the team twice, but the sides never agreed to a deal. With pass-rushers Nick Bosa (knee) and Solomon Thomas (knee) both suffering serious injuries in Week 2, the Niners are looking for reinforcements on the defensive line. The 31-year-old former first-round pick of the Lions in 2013 had 2.5 sacks in 11 games (one start) with the Seahawks last year and has had trouble staying on the field in his seven-year career. He could provide some much-needed depth, but Ansah won't be on the IDP radar. San Fran's defense is still worth starting in fantasy, but they'll lose some of that high-end potential with Bosa injured.

49ers, Ziggy Ansah Unable To Reach Agreement

The San Francisco 49ers visit with free-agent pass-rusher Ziggy Ansah is over, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement on a contract, according to a source. Ansah will continue to wait for the right opportunity on the open market. The former fifth overall pick of the Lions in 2013 has a long injury history but can be a productive pass-rusher when healthy, recording a career-high 14.5 sacks in his Pro Bowl season of 2015. Ansah spent last year in Seattle, racking up 18 total tackles, eight QB hits, two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and 2.5 sacks in 11 games (one start). The 31-year-old could be a nice rotational defensive end in the right situation if he can just stay healthy.

Ziggy Ansah Rips Philadelphia

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Ziggy Ansah has been getting some attention lately for not stepping up, but he did the dirty work in the team's win against the Eagles on Sunday. Ansah was credited with a sack and a half, and he was in the mix on five turnovers by Philly on a day where the team was without star end Jadeveon Clowney (hip). Clowney is hopefully going to be ready for next Monday's game against Minnesota, but the crew showed that they can take care of business pretty well even when he's not around. The newfound Seahawks Defense has suddenly stepped up in two straight weeks. Bold owners can roll the dice, but with more tough opponents ahead of them, they still probably shouldn't be heavily invested in.

Ezekiel Ansah, Duane Brown Inactive For Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Ezekiel Ansah (ankle) and left tackle Duane Brown (biceps) are both inactive for Week 7 against the Ravens. Ansah just hasn't been able to stay healthy for an entire season in his career. His absence is good news for Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Mark Ingram. Brown remains out of the picture as Russell Wilson's blind-side protector, but Wilson has still performed at an MVP level this year.

Ziggy Ansah Coming Into His Own

Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Ziggy Ansah seems to be fitting in, and head coach Pete Carroll is excited about the future for Ansah and the rest of his defensive line. Carroll told reporters this week that he feels like his front guys are on the verge of breaking out because while they haven't been tallying many sacks, they have been getting through the line and pressuring quarterbacks. As the Seahawks Defense prepares to face Baker Mayfield, one of the most sacked QBs in the league, everyone is champing at the bit to get down to business and start racking up the numbers. This week is a great opportunity to do it.

Ziggy Ansah Expected To Play Against Arizona

It's been a pretty short but eventful season so far for Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Ziggy Ansah. The oft-injured pass rusher has been struggling with a myriad of injuries in his weeks with the team, and he's now been missing some practice with a back issue. That said, head coach Pete Carroll told the media on Friday that Ansah is expected to play against Arizona on Sunday. He'll be needed since the defensive line expects to be busy this week as they try to contain Kyler Murray and the Air Raid-lite offense that the Cardinals are adopting. Arizona's offense is dangerous, but the Seahawks Defense should be up to the task since the Cardinals offensive line has been one giant question mark so far. Expect good things with Bobby Wilson at the helm.

Seahawks Defense Without Ziggy Ansah Again

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Ziggy Ansah (shoulder) is inactive in Week 2 against the Steelers. Ansah will have to wait another week to make his debut with the team. The Seahawks are being very cautious with the injury-prone pass-rusher, but he should be back soon. It's good news for Ben Roethlisberger and company as they look to bounce back from their 33-3 drubbing at the hands of the Patriots last week. Big Ben will have QB1 appeal this Sunday, while fantasy owners are best off leaving Seattle's defense on the bench.

Ziggy Ansah Questionable For Seahawks Defense

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Ziggy Ansah (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Week 2 against the Steelers. It's the same listing that Ansah had for the season opener in which he didn't play. The Seahawks are being cautious with Ansah after coming off shoulder surgery and a strained groin. "He practiced all week long. He did all right," head coach Pete Carroll said. "He practiced all week. He wasnt limited at all." Ansah averaged as much as 31 snaps a game back in 2015, so if he plays, he's unlikely to see a heavy workload. Seattle's defense/special teams should not be trusted against a Steelers team that will be looking to rebound from their embarrassing 33-3 loss to the Patriots in Week 1.
