Aleksander Barkov to Miss 7-9 Months

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (knee) has been ruled out for 7-9 months. He underwent surgery on his ACL and MCL in his right knee on Friday. The official timeline confirms initial fears that the Panthers captain must sit out the entire 2025-26 regular season. Barkov might also not make it back in time for the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. "There's no hiding it, that's a hole," Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said about Barkov's absence. Anton Lundell looks poised to have a larger role this season, and his line with Eetu Luostarinen and Brad Marchand could become Florida's de facto second line.

Aleksander Barkov Could Miss Entire Season After Knee Surgery

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (knee) might miss the entire 2025-26 season after having knee surgery on Friday. The exact timeline of Barkov's potential return is not yet known, but he's expected to miss several months. Florida is also without Matthew Tkachuk (groin) to start the year, so the team's offense will look quite different this season. Barkov's injury will give Sam Bennett the first-line center job, while Anton Lundell will move up to the second line. Lundell flirted with a 50-point campaign last season and could become a popular target for fantasy managers in 2025-26.

Aleksander Barkov Injures Right Leg in Practice

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (leg) appeared to injure his right leg during Thursday's practice. Barkov needed assistance to leave the ice. Panthers head coach Paul Maurice told reporters after practice that Barkov is still being evaluated and more information will be available on Friday. The Panthers have already lost Matthew Tkachuk (groin) for the start of the season and could be without two top-six pieces if Barkov's injury is serious. Anton Lundell is the most likely candidate to move up in the lineup to replace Barkov, who has averaged at least a point per game in five consecutive seasons.

Aleksander Barkov Posts Two Assists in Cup-Clinching Win

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov registered two assists in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers, securing the team's second consecutive Stanley Cup championship. Barkov became the first European captain to lift the Stanley Cup in back-to-back years. He wrapped up the Finals with a three-game point streak and tallied 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) in 23 games overall during the postseason. Panthers head coach Paul Maurice disclosed on Tuesday that one of Barkov's hands was cut open in Game 1 against the Oilers, which could explain the decline in his offensive production at the start of the Finals. Barkov will enter next season as a three-time Selke Trophy winner and aims to average at least a point per game for a sixth consecutive campaign.

The Panthers captain has had a limited role in the attack, as he has been tasked with slowing down Connor McDavid in the Finals. However, Barkov has enjoyed a solid postseason overall, scoring six goals and 19 points in 21 outings. He is also averaging a block per game and has dished out 49 hits.

Aleksander Barkov Tallies Three Points in Saturday's Win

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov scored two goals and registered an assist in Saturday's big 6-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Panthers captain was outstanding throughout the contest, finishing with a plus-four rating. Following a couple of quiet outings in Round 2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Barkov has quickly regained his scoring touch, compiling a four-game point streak. The three-point outburst on Saturday night made him Florida's top scorer for these playoffs. Barkov has notched 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in as many games. He has done plenty of the dirty work as well, recording 16 blocks and 37 hits.

Aleksander Barkov Bags 70th Career Postseason Point

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov reached a new milestone in Tuesday's 5-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes, becoming the first player in franchise history to register 70 postseason points. He did so with an assist on a power-play goal from Carter Verhaeghe, which opened the scoring at the 8:30 mark in the first period. Barkov is the seventh Finnish player to put up at least 70 points in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. 11 of his points have come this year, as the Panthers captain has contributed three goals and eight assists in 13 games. Florida's top line has not exactly stood out this postseason, but Barkov's numbers remain solid, and there should be plenty more to come.

Aleksander Barkov Dishes Out Two Assists in Game 7 Win

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov had two assists in Sunday's big 6-1 win in Game 7 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Panthers captain was one of the set-up guys when Seth Jones opened the scoring early in the second period and assisted Sam Reinhart on Florida's fifth goal midway through the third frame. With the effort, Barkov ended a mini-slump, as he had finished back-to-back games scoreless. Florida has had a number of offensive contributors during their playoff run this year, leaving Barkov fourth on the team with 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 12 games. Next, the Panthers face the Carolina Hurricanes, against whom Barkov averaged a point per game over three regular-season meetings.

Aleksander Barkov Questionable For Saturday

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (undisclosed) is questionable for Saturday's matchup against the Florida Panthers. He was injured on Thursday night in a 2-0 victory over Tampa Bay and missed Friday's optional practice. "He hasn't been ruled out yet [for Game 3], and he hasn't been cleared," Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said of Barkov on Friday. If Barkov can't play on Saturday, Maurice will likely use Sam Bennett as his first-line center, with Anton Lundell moving up to the second line. Tomas Nosek looks like the most likely candidate to fill the open spot in the lineup.

Aleksander Barkov Hurt In Game 2

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (undisclosed) did not finish Thursday's 2-0 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He exited the contest in the third period following a hit from Lightning forward Brandon Hagel, which earned him a five-minute major penalty for interference. Before leaving the action, Barkov helped to set up Nate Schmidt for the game's opening goal with 4:15 played in the first period. The Panthers captain also registered one block and one hit in 15:41 of ice time. Overall, Barkov has procured three assists in the series, including two on the power play. Tomas Nosek is likely to jump into the lineup if Barkov can't play in Saturday's Game 3.

Aleksander Barkov Returns To Panthers Lineup Monday

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (rest) is expected to rejoin the lineup for Monday's contest against the New York Rangers. Florida will also bring Sam Reinhart (rest) back into the lineup on Monday, while Brad Marchand, Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen, and Mackie Samoskevich are scheduled to rest. Aleksander Barkov Resting On Saturday

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (rest) will not play on Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres. The team will keep him off the ice for rest purposes. Barkov was also rested last Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings. He produced a goal and an assist in two games after returning and appears to be in good form ahead of the postseason. Throughout the entire campaign, Barkov has recorded 20 goals and 69 points in 66 games. With him out on Saturday, the Panthers are projected to go with Anton Lundell as the first-line center. He will be joined on the line by Eetu Luostarinen and Brad Marchand. All three players will have increased fantasy value.

Aleksander Barkov Will Miss Weekend's Action

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (upper body) will be absent for at least two more games. The Panthers captain missed Wednesday's contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs due to an upper-body injury and has been ruled out for Florida's back-to-back set over the weekend against the Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings. Sam Bennett has taken over as the team's first-line center, while Anton Lundell has been promoted to the second line. Both players will boast additional fantasy value until Barkov returns.

Aleksander Barkov Strikes Twice In Victory

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov found the back of the net twice during their victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday evening. Barkov did all of his damage in the second frame. He opened the period by scoring on a snap shot which broke the scoreless tie. Later in the frame, Barkov would find the back of the net again, this time on the power-play. This goal served as the eventual game-winner. This was a nice bounce-back outing for the 29-year-old as he did not get on the scoresheet in each of his past two games. Since the start of February, Barkov has scored four goals and added 10 helpers across 14 contests. He remains a must-start option in all formats and a strong play in DFS competitions on Thursday when the Panthers host the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Aleksander Barkov A Game-Time Decision On Wednesday

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (illness) is a game-time decision for Wednesday's tilt against Minnesota. He was also a game-time call ahead of Monday's action versus Edmonton but ended up missing a second straight game. Barkov recently had a three-game goal streak and has been on fire for most of the season. Through 22 outings, the Panthers captain has produced nine goals and 29 points. Anton Lundell has enjoyed a larger role during Barkov's absence and looks set to maintain a top-six spot on Wednesday, as Sam Bennett (illness) won't be available.

Aleksander Barkov A Game-Time Call Monday

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (illness) is considered a game-time decision for Monday's matchup against Edmonton. There's a chance Barkov will return to the lineup after missing the previous game due to illness, but we won't know for sure until closer to puck drop. The Panthers captain didn't take part in Monday's optional morning skate. Sam Bennett worked as the first-line center in Saturday's 3-0 loss to Calgary, with Anton Lundell moving to the second line. Both players will have additional fantasy value if Barkov remains out on Monday.

Aleksander Barkov Returns To Panthers Lineup

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (lower body) will return to action on Monday versus Buffalo. The Panthers captain has been out for eight games with a lower-body injury. He makes his comeback at a good time, as Florida is set to travel to his native Finland for a couple of games later in the week. Barkov goes back to the top line, bumping Sam Bennett to the second. Anton Lundell heads to the third line, losing a large chunk of his fantasy value. However, he's been very productive in recent games and could still make noise in a favorable matchup on Monday.

Aleksander Barkov Returns To Practice

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (lower body) was back in practice on Saturday. He will miss an eighth consecutive game on Saturday versus the Islanders, but Barkov looks to be on track to rejoin the action before the team heads to his native Finland for a pair of games late next week. Barkov's return will bump Anton Lundell away from the top six. He has been outstanding during his absence on the second line, producing five goals and three assists in the past six games. Barkov's return will also affect Sam Bennett's usage, as he has been filling in for the Panthers captain as the first-line center. Bennett has a chance to score in a fourth consecutive game on Saturday.
