Gustav Forsling Moves Past Illness, Expected To Play On Wednesday

According to Tom Gulitti of NHL.com, Florida Panthers defenseman Gustav Forsling (illness) has returned to practice with Team Sweden and is expected to be cleared to play Wednesday evening against Team Canada. Forsling was unable to participate during Monday's practice, but seeing him return to full participation on Tuesday is a great sign for his status. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his availability leading up to Wednesday's game. During line rushes, Forsling slotted in on the second pairing alongside Buffalo's Rasmus Dahlin. Across 57 contests with Florida this season, Forsling has tallied 21 points (eight goals, 13 helpers) with 52 hits and 64 blocked shots. Given his low offensive outputs, he should be viewed as a low-end option in DFS formats.

Gustav Forsling Extends Point Streak With Another Goal

Florida Panthers defenseman Gustav Forsling scored a big goal to stretch his point streak to three games in Thursday's 3-2 victory over the Rangers. The Swedish blue-liner popped up with a game-tying goal in the second period after Chris Kreider had given the Rangers the lead. It's already his second goal of the Eastern Conference Final. Forsling has taken his game to another level in these playoffs. After picking up only six points during the team's run to the Stanley Cup Final a year ago, he has totaled 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 16 games. Forsling is typically busy without the puck as well and has recorded 23 blocks and 30 hits this postseason.

Gustav Forsling Sends Florida To Eastern Conference Finals

Florida Panthers defenseman Gustav Forsling finished off the Boston Bruins with a late third-period goal in Game 6 of their second-round series. Forsling's tie-breaking goal put a dagger into the Bruins playoff hopes as it came with just 93 seconds left. The 27-year-old blueliner has shown up big this postseason, picking up seven points (two goals, five assists) in 11 games while providing stellar defensive play for the Panthers. Knowing what Forsling has accomplished in his time in Florida, it's crazy to think that the Panthers originally acquired him by claiming him off waivers in 2021.

Panthers Ink Gustav Forsling To Eight-Year Extension

The Florida Panthers have signed defenseman Gustav Forsling to an eight-year contract extension that carries a $5.75 million average annual value. It's a nice story for a player that the team claimed off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes on Jan. 9, 2021. The 27-year-old enjoyed a breakout season in the 2022-23 campaign, tallying 13 goals and 41 points across 82 games while averaging a career-high 23:26 of ice time per game. He has followed that up with a healthy nine goals and 31 points across 62 games this season while his eye-popping plus-43 rating is the best mark in the NHL. The Panthers also announced a two-year contract extension for forward Jonah Gadjovich on Thursday. The 25-year-old has recorded two goals and four points while skating just 7:26 per night across 33 games this season.

Florida Panthers defenseman Gustav Forsling (personal) is expected to rejoin the lineup Wednesday versus Arizona. He sat out Monday's game against Nashville for personal reasons. Gustav Forsling Signs Three-Year Contract With Panthers

The Florida Panthers re-signed defenseman Gustav Forsling to a three-year contract worth an average annual value of $2.66 million. This is the first time that the 25-year-old has been rewarded with a one-way contact. Prior to joining the Panthers for the 2020-21 season, the native of Sweden spent parts of three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks. He also spent all of the 2019-20 season in the AHL as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes organization. Forsling was originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks. Last season with the Panthers, he recorded five goals and 17 points in 43 games while passing numerous veteran defensemen on the depth chart. He also had an impressive +/- rating of 17 and also played 20 minutes a game.

Gustav Forsling Takes Point Streak To Four Games

Florida Panthers defenseman Gustav Forsling finished off the scoring in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Blue Jackets, stretching his point streak to four games. Aleksander Barkov had a goal and an assist while Frank Vatrano also scored for the Panthers, who have won all four games since Aaron Ekblad (leg) went down with a nasty injury. Forsling is filling Ekblad's place on the top defensive pairing, and he also sees time on the second power-play unit. His fantasy stock is on a rise, and Forsling has a chance to please fantasy managers in a pair of revenge games against Carolina next. The 24-year-old was waived by the Hurricanes in January without him ever seeing game action in the NHL during his one-and-a-half-year stay at the club.
