Sam Reinhart News
The Florida Panthers inked newly-acquired forward Sam Reinhart to a three-year, $19.5 million contract ($6.5 million average annual value) on Wednesday. The 25-year-old, who was a restricted free agent, was traded to the Panthers from Buffalo in exchange for goaltending prospect Devon Levi and a first-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft on July 24th. Reinhart is coming off a strong sixth NHL-season, leading the Sabres in goals (25) and points (40) while chipping in 16 power-play points and 130 shots in 54 games. The British Columbia native should become a staple in Florida's dangerous top-six forward group in 2021-2022 and could provide great value as a mid-round selection in upcoming fantasy drafts.
The Buffalo Sabres traded a center but it wasn't Jack Eichel. The club moved young forward Sam Reinhart to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a 2022 first-round draft pick and goaltending prospect Devon Levi. Interestingly, the return for Reinhart was lighter than the assets the club received for divisive defender Rasmus Ristolainen who was earlier flipped to the Flyers. The new Panther scored 25 goals and recorded 40 total points in 54 games with the hapless Sabres last season. He averaged more than 19 minutes per game, recorded 16 power-play points, and fired 130 shots. With his new team, Reinhart could be a strong fantasy option in 2021-22 with a solid supporting cast.
Buffalo Sabres forward Sam Reinhart recorded the fourth hat trick of his career on Friday night, helping elevate his to team to a 6-4 victory over the Boston Bruins. With his trio of tallies, Reinhart eclipsed the 20-goal mark for the fifth time over his past six seasons and is currently on a 36-goal pace over a full 82-game season. Despite the overall struggles in Buffalo in addition to not having his usual center Jack Eichel (out with a neck injury), the 25-year-old has managed to maintain fantasy relevance with 33 points (20 goals, 13 assists), 14 power-play points and 105 shots on goal in 46 contests. Set to play four games over the next eight days, Reinhart (45% owned in Yahoo! leagues) should be considered a top waiver-wire target with fantasy playoffs underway.
Buffalo Sabres forward Sam Reinhart scored two goals as his struggling squad shocked the Penguins with a 4-2 win on Sunday. Victor Olofsson and Rasmus Dahlin each had two assists. Reinhart leads the team in both goals (17) and points (30). The team has had an awful campaign, but they have had a decent month, which has boosted the fantasy value of multiple players. With Jack Eichel (neck) ruled out for the season, Reinhart is set to be the most prolific Sabres player for the rest of the way. He has a nice four-game slate next week, which starts on Tuesday against Boston.
