Alex Vlasic Inks Six-Year Extension With Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks and defenseman Alex Vlasic have agreed to a six-year contract extension that carries an average annual value of $4.6 million. The 22-year-old was a bright spot for a young and scuffling Blackhawks team despite not contributing much at the offense end of the ice. The 6-foot-6 blueliner notched two goals and 16 points in 76 games on the season but also blocked 148 shots and was only a minus-four on a Blackhawks team that gave up 111 more goals than they scored. A 2019 second-round pick, Vlasic played three seasons with Boston University before making his NHL debut in the 2021-22 season.
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Alex Vlasic (concussion) will be back in action Sunday versus New Jersey. The young blue-liner missed two games after being placed in concussion protocol. Vlasic has had an impressive start to the season and boasts three points through eight appearances with a team-best plus-four rating. His return pushes Jarred Tinordi out of the lineup on Sunday, with Vlasic set to be reunited with Connor Murphy on the second defensive pairing.
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Alex Vlasic has been placed into concussion protocol and won't be available for Monday's matchup against the Coyotes. The 22-year-old has tallied three points -- all via assists -- in eight appearances, adding 15 blocks and seven hits with eight shots on goal and a team-best plus-four rating. The Blackhawks have recalled Isaak Phillips from the AHL to take Vlasic's place in the lineup.
