Sam Carrick Won't Play Friday

Buffalo Sabres center Sam Carrick (arm) will not be in action on Friday in Game 2 against the Montreal Canadiens, Jourdon LaBarber of the Sabres' official site reprots. He returned to practice earlier this week, but the team doesn't want to rush him back. "He's right on the cusp of going in," Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said Friday morning. "If this was a Game 7, I think you'd look at it like we'd probably put him in. ... If I can give him a couple extra days, I think we'll get rewarded for it. He played incredible for us, and we want him back in the lineup." Carrick impressed during the regular season after joining the Sabres, logging six points (five goals, one assist) and 20 hits in 13 appearances.

Rasmus Dahlin Ready to Go Friday

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin (undisclosed) looks good to go for Game 2 against the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports. Dahlin was hurt late in Game 1 while blocking a shot, but he said he's not injured. Dahlin's availability is crucial for the Sabres. The 26-year-old has had a great campaign and was named a Norris Trophy finalist on Thursday. During his first career playoff run, Dahlin has registered four points (one goal, three assists), 25 SOG, nine blocks, 10 hits, and a plus-four rating in seven games. He finished the regular season as the NHL's sixth-highest scoring defenseman, posting a career-high 74 points (19 goals, 55 assists) in 77 games.

Bowen Byram Ties Franchise Record With Fourth Postseason Goal

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Bowen Byram potted a power-play goal in Wednesday's 4-2 Game 1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens, tying the franchise record for most goals scored in a postseason by a defenseman. Byram has found the back of the net four times on 17 SOG, adding two assists in seven outings. He is tied for the fifth-most points among defensemen this postseason. While Rasmus Dahlin has typically been the star man on the Sabres' blue line, it's been the Byram show so far in the playoffs. Bizarrely, he hadn't scored a single goal in his first 28 Stanley Cup Playoffs appearances before erupting for four goals in six games.

Zach Benson Posts Second Consecutive Multi-Point Game

Buffalo Sabres left wing Zach Benson contributed two assists in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens, registering his second consecutive multi-point game. He became only the fourth player in Sabres history to record consecutive multi-point playoff games at age 20 or younger. Benson assisted Josh Doan at even strength with only a few minutes played in the first period and later helped set up a power-play goal for Ryan McLeod in the same frame. Through seven postseason games, Benson leads his team with 28 penalty minutes and has recorded five points (two goals, three assists).

Rasmus Dahlin "Seems Fine" After Early Exit on Wednesday

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin (undisclosed) looks to have avoided a serious injury in Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. He didn't play in the final few minutes after blocking a shot. Speaking to reporters after the game, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said Dahlin "seems fine" but added that he had not yet spoken to the medical staff. Sam Carrick Upgraded to Day-to-Day

Buffalo Sabres center Sam Carrick (arm) has been upgraded to day-to-day, head coach Lindy Ruff revealed on Tuesday. Carrick practiced on Tuesday and could be an option to make his 2026 postseason debut in Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. Initially, Carrick was believed not to be an option for Round 2 due to an arm injury sustained in a fight with New York Islanders forward Anders Lee on March 31. Carrick could be a useful addition to the Sabres' lineup, having recorded five goals, one assist, and 20 hits in 13 regular-season outings with the team.

Sam Carrick Could Practice Tuesday

Buffalo Sabres center Sam Carrick (arm) could return to practice on Tuesday. Over the weekend, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters that Carrick likely won't be available for the team's second-round matchup against the Montreal Canadiens, but he is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a left arm injury. "(He's) going to see our doctors today and thinks he's further along than maybe I portrayed yesterday," Ruff said Monday. "So, with good news, he could join our team back in practice tomorrow, which is great news. That would put him a little bit ahead of schedule." Carrick injured his left arm in a fight with New York Islanders forward Anders Lee on March 31. He was a trade deadline acquisition for the Sabres, recording six points (five goals, one assist) and 20 hits in 13 games.

Logan Stanley Practices Fully Sunday

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Logan Stanley (illness) was a full participant in Sunday's practice, Justin Alpert of the Sabres' official site reports. Due to a stomach virus, Stanley couldn't help his squad in Friday's series-clinching win over Boston. His full participation in practice suggests he will be available for Buffalo's second-round opener against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. Stanley recorded a career-high 26 points (nine goals, 17 assists) in 76 regular-season appearances. In the playoffs, he hasn't had the same offensive impact, finishing scoreless in five first-round games.

Sam Carrick Will Miss Second-Round Matchup

Buffalo Sabres center Sam Carrick (upper body) isn't expected to return to action during the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Montreal Canadiens, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports. He's been out since being involved in a fight during a game against the New York Islanders on March 31. Buffalo acquired Carrick from the New York Rangers on March 6, and he did a good job for the team during the regular season. In 13 outings, Carrick registered six points (five goals, one assist) and 20 hits. He'll be an option for the fourth line once Carrick is healthy.

Noah Ostlund Expected to Miss Round 2

Buffalo Sabres center Noah Ostlund (lower body) is expected to miss the entire second-round series against the Montreal Canadiens, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports. The 22-year-old sustained a lower-body injury in the first round of Game 5 against Boston, missing Buffalo's series-clinching win on Friday. Ostlund was also unavailable for Games 1 and 2 because of an upper-body injury. Ostlund finished the series with one goal and one assist in three games. Tyson Kozak will see regular action until Ostlund is healthy again, but he lacks fantasy value. During the first round, Kozak appeared in four games, recording one assist and 12 hits.

Logan Stanley a Game-Time Decision Friday

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Logan Stanley (illness) is a game-time decision for Friday's tilt against the Buffalo Sabres, Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com reports. The towering 6-foot-7 blue-liner is dealing with an illness and couldn't practice on Thursday. This season, Stanley took a big leap offensively, recording 26 points (nine goals, 17 assists) in 76 games split between the Sabres and Winnipeg Jets. He hasn't yet made it on the score sheet in five playoff games. Without the puck, Stanley has registered six blocks and six hits in 13:52 of ice time per game. The Sabres plan to use Michael Kesselring as Stanley's replacement if needed.

Noah Ostlund Set to Miss "a Period of Time"

Buffalo Sabres center Noah Ostlund (lower body) appears to be done for the first-round series against the Boston Bruins. Jourdon LaBarber of the Sabres' official site reports that head coach Lindy Ruff expects Ostlund to miss "a period of time" after he suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday's Game 5 loss. "The news wasn't good," Ruff said Wednesday. "Don't know exactly how much we know, but he's gonna miss some time." It's an unfortunate blow for Ostlund, who also sat out the start of the series due to injury. Josh Norris (undisclosed) is expected to enter the lineup as Ostlund's replacement in Game 6 on Friday.

Noah Ostlund Likely to Miss Time Due to Lower-Body Injury

Buffalo Sabres center Noah Ostlund (lower body) is doubtful for Game 6 against the Boston Bruins on Friday. In Tuesday's Game 5, he sustained a lower-body injury in a collision with Bruins forward Casey Mittelstadt. Speaking after the game about Ostlund's injury, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said, "It doesn't look good." Ostlund also missed a couple of games at the start of the series due to injury. He has recorded two points (one goal, one assist), four SOG, and a plus-three rating in three games against Boston. Ostlund's injury will hurt the Sabres, but they have a high-level replacement in Josh Norris (undisclosed), who was deemed available for Tuesday's action but didn't play.

Jason Zucker  • LW  •  Sabres

Jason Zucker Good to Go for Game 5

Buffalo Sabres left wing Jason Zucker (undisclosed) will play in Game 5 against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com reports. He has been cleared for action after Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff labeled Zucker probable for the game on Monday. The veteran forward left Sunday's Game 4 early with an unspecified ailment. Zucker is expected to skate in his usual spot on the second line and will work with the first power-play unit. He has eight SOG but no points in four games in the series.

Josh Norris  • C  •  Sabres

Josh Norris Won't Play Tuesday

Buffalo Sabres center Josh Norris (undisclosed) won't be in action on Tuesday against the Boston Bruins, Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com reports. On Tuesday morning, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters that Norris is available for selection, but he didn't take part in line rushes during the morning skate. He will sit out a third consecutive game. Tyler Kozak (undisclosed) has been Norris' replacement in the lineup and is good to go on Tuesday after making an early exit in Sunday's Game 4. In the playoffs, Kozak has recorded one assist in two outings, averaging two hits and 9:47 of ice time per game.

Jason Zucker Probable for Game 5 Against Bruins

Buffalo Sabres left wing Jason Zucker (undisclosed) is considered probable for Tuesday's Game 5 tilt against the Boston Bruins, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports. The veteran forward left Sunday's Game 4 win midway through the third period. However, Zucker doesn't appear to be dealing with a serious injury and is likely to play as Buffalo attempts to finish off Boston on Tuesday. After four games in the series, Zucker is still searching for his first points. He has cooled off following a four-game point streak to end the regular season. Tyson Kozak (undisclosed), who also didn't finish Sunday's contest, is probable for Tuesday as well.

Josh Norris Could Return to Action Tuesday

Buffalo Sabres center Josh Norris (undisclosed) might be available on Tuesday night against the Boston Bruins, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports. On Sunday, Norris was unavailable for a second consecutive game after sustaining an undisclosed injury early in the first-round series. He was hot at the end of the regular season, totaling eight points (three goals, five assists) in the last seven games. However, the Bruins have kept him off the score sheet in the playoffs, limiting Norris to two SOG. If he's cleared to play, Norris will compete for a middle-six role and be an option for the power-play units.

Bowen Byram Extends Goal Streak to Three Games

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Bowen Byram continued to make a big impact in the first-round series against the Boston Bruins on Sunday, contributing a goal and an assist in a huge 6-1 road win. He has recorded back-to-back multi-point games and is only the third defenseman in franchise history to score in three consecutive postseason outings. Meanwhile, Owen Power has become the third rearguard in NHL history to record an assist in each of his first four career playoff games. Boston has limited Rasmus Dahlin to one assist and no goals, but the Sabres' blue line has still played a major role on offense. World-class performances from the likes of Byram have given the team a chance to finish the series in five games on Tuesday.

Jason Zucker Makes Early Exit in Blowout Win

Buffalo Sabres winger Jason Zucker (undisclosed) exited the action midway through the third period in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Boston Bruins, Jourdon LaBarber of the Sabres' official site reports. After taking a 4-0 lead in the first period, Buffalo was already in cruise control at that point, which could mean Zucker's exit was for precautionary reasons. Tyler Kozak (undisclosed) also didn't finish the game for the Sabres, who went up 3-1 in the series. Zucker had a hot finish to the regular season, but he hasn't been very sharp in the playoffs. The veteran is still looking for his first points against the Bruins, failing to score with eight attempts on net. An update on Zucker and Kozak is expected before Tuesday's Game 5.
