Sam Carrick Won't Play Friday

Buffalo Sabres center Sam Carrick (arm) will not be in action on Friday in Game 2 against the Montreal Canadiens, Jourdon LaBarber of the Sabres' official site reprots. He returned to practice earlier this week, but the team doesn't want to rush him back. "He's right on the cusp of going in," Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said Friday morning. "If this was a Game 7, I think you'd look at it like we'd probably put him in. ... If I can give him a couple extra days, I think we'll get rewarded for it. He played incredible for us, and we want him back in the lineup." Carrick impressed during the regular season after joining the Sabres, logging six points (five goals, one assist) and 20 hits in 13 appearances.

Sam Carrick Upgraded to Day-to-Day

Buffalo Sabres center Sam Carrick (arm) has been upgraded to day-to-day, head coach Lindy Ruff revealed on Tuesday. Carrick practiced on Tuesday and could be an option to make his 2026 postseason debut in Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. Initially, Carrick was believed not to be an option for Round 2 due to an arm injury sustained in a fight with New York Islanders forward Anders Lee on March 31. Carrick could be a useful addition to the Sabres' lineup, having recorded five goals, one assist, and 20 hits in 13 regular-season outings with the team.

Sam Carrick Could Practice Tuesday

Buffalo Sabres center Sam Carrick (arm) could return to practice on Tuesday. Over the weekend, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters that Carrick likely won't be available for the team's second-round matchup against the Montreal Canadiens, but he is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a left arm injury. "(He's) going to see our doctors today and thinks he's further along than maybe I portrayed yesterday," Ruff said Monday. "So, with good news, he could join our team back in practice tomorrow, which is great news. That would put him a little bit ahead of schedule." Carrick injured his left arm in a fight with New York Islanders forward Anders Lee on March 31. He was a trade deadline acquisition for the Sabres, recording six points (five goals, one assist) and 20 hits in 13 games.

Sam Carrick to Miss Start of Playoffs

Buffalo Sabres center Sam Carrick (arm) will miss the start of the postseason, Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News reports. The veteran forward injured his left arm late last month and has been sidelined for five games. Before injury struck, Carrick was having a good start at his new club. He scored five goals and six points in 13 games. With Carrick unavailable, Tyson Kozak has begun to re-establish his spot in the lineup. He has played in back-to-back games, collecting an assist in Thursday's 5-0 victory over Columbus. Josh Dunne could also see some action late in the season as the fourth-line center.

Sam Carrick Set To Enter Oilers Lineup For Game 5

Edmonton Oilers center Sam Carrick is expected to replace Derek Ryan in the lineup Friday against Dallas. The 32-year-old will make his ninth postseason appearance of the year. He's been limited to one assist in 9:50 of ice time per game. However, Carrick boasts a better faceoff percentage than Ryan, with 55.2 percent, and has also been more physical, registering 28 hits. Ryan, who has won 47.5 percent of his faceoffs this postseason with 21 hits, comes out of the lineup after featuring in 12 consecutive contests.

Oilers Nearing A Trade For Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick

The Edmonton Oilers are nearing a deal that would see them net forwards Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick from the Anaheim Ducks. While the exact return has yet to be released at this point, there is reportedly salary retention involved, as well as a third-party broker to help facilitate the swap. Henrique, 34, is in his 14th NHL season and his sixth full campaign with the Ducks. He has tallied 18 goals and 42 points across 60 games with 111 shots in that time. Carrick, 32, is also in his sixth season with the Ducks. He has appeared in a career-high 61 games this season and has tallied eight goals and 11 points with 77 shots on goal. The Oilers will likely continue to add as they sit second in the Pacific Division with a 38-20-2 record.

Sam Carrick Scores Lone Goal For Anaheim Wednesday

Anaheim Ducks center Sam Carrick scored the only goal against the Vancouver Canucks. The first period goal was Carrick's seventh of the season in just 25 games. Due to COVID and injuries, Carrick played 16:40 of ice time and saw a brief shift on the power play to go along with his 69 seconds of penalty kill time. The forward had three shots on goal, three scoring chances, and two hits as well. For someone who typically plays fourth-line minutes, Carrick did not look out of place in the top-six mix for Anaheim. Can he play this way constantly? That becomes the question.
