Mikko Rantanen Played Through Torn MCL Late in the Season

Dallas Stars winger Mikko Rantanen (knee) played through a torn MCL late in the season, general manager Jim Nill revealed on Thursday. The Finnish superstar suffered the injury during the Olympics in February. After he was hurt, Rantanen missed 15 games for the Stars. He returned for the final 10 regular-season contests and skated in six playoff games. Nill said Rantanen didn't need surgery and won't require it to return to full health for the next campaign. While Rantanen will turn 30 early next season, he should remain a highly productive player for the foreseeable future. In 2025-26, he averaged 1.20 points per game, finishing with 22 goals and 55 assists in 64 outings.

Roope Hintz Recovering From Hamstring Injury

Dallas Stars center Roope Hintz revealed he dealt with a hamstring injury late in the season, Taylor Baird of NHL.com reports. The Finnish forward dropped out of the lineup in early March and didn't play in Dallas' first-round defeat to the Minnesota Wild. "I just kind of over-stretched it or something and it just kind of popped; I don't know what really happened there," Hintz said Monday. He feels he could have been ready to play in Game 2 or Game 3 of the second round if Dallas had advanced. This suggests Hintz shouldn't have any trouble getting 100 percent healthy for next season. He remains a core piece for the Stars, averaging 0.91 points per game since 2020-21.

Tyler Seguin Expects to Be Ready for Training Camp

Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin (knee) expects to be healthy for the start of training camp in the fall, Taylor Baird of NHL.com reports. The 34-year-old saw his 2025-26 campaign end in early December after an ACL tear in his right knee. Seguin made only 27 appearances, finishing with 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists). Unfortunately, this marked the second consecutive year Seguin's season was cut short by injury. He was limited to 20 outings in 2024-25 due to hip surgery. These have been tough injury setbacks for Seguin, but he feels he'll be "as strong as ever" when he returns next season. The 2026-27 campaign will be the final season of Seguin's eight-year, $78.8 million contract.

Tyler Myers Scratched on Thursday

Dallas Stars defenseman Tyler Myers will miss Thursday's Game 6 against the Minnesota Wild as a healthy scratch, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. The veteran blue-liner will sit out at least one contest after struggling through the first five games of the series. He didn't pick up any points and posted a minus-five rating while averaging 19:41 of ice time. With Myers sitting on Thursday, Alexander Petrovic will get a chance to make his 2026 postseason debut. Petrovic will have limited fantasy value as a member of the third defensive pairing. In 54 regular-season appearances, he recorded 10 points (two goals, eight assists), 57 SOG, 77 blocks, and 88 hits.

Arttu Hyry Unavailable Thursday, Michael Bunting Makes Postseason Debut

Dallas Stars right wing Arttu Hyry (lower body) won't be in action on Thursday in Game 6 against the Minnesota Wild, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. The Finnish forward sustained a lower-body injury in Tuesday's Game 5. While he was part of the traveling party to Minnesota, Hyry will be forced to sit out at least one game. In his absence, Michael Bunting will enter the lineup for his 2026 postseason debut. He will skate on the third line with Justin Hryckowian and Jamie Benn. Bunting has been a disappointment for the Stars, posting only two points (one goal, one assist) in 13 outings since coming over from Nashville. Facing elimination from the playoffs, the team needs Bunting to step up with a big performance now more than ever.

Arttu Hyry Could Be Available Thursday

Dallas Stars right wing Arttu Hyry (lower body) has traveled with the team for Game 6 on the road against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. This suggests Hyry could be an option for the contest. He suffered a lower-body injury in Game 5, and Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan initially said it was "highly unlikely" Hyry would be available for Game 6. In the playoffs, Hyry has been doing the dirty work for Dallas, recording seven hits and two blocks in four outings. He has no points with three SOG. The Stars will look to Michael Bunting or Adam Erne if Hyry is ultimately ruled out for Thursday's action.

Nils Lundkvist to Remain Out Thursday

Dallas Stars defenseman Nils Lundkvist (face) will miss a second consecutive game on Thursday against the Minnesota Wild, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. The Swedish rearguard sustained a deep facial laceration in Game 4 of the first-round series and didn't travel with the team to Minnesota. Ilya Lyubushkin jumped into the lineup as Lundkvist's replacement in Game 5 on Tuesday and is set to retain his spot for Thursday's contest. In a 4-2 loss, Lyubushkin had a quiet outing, finishing with one block and one hit in 12:30 of ice time. He may have an even smaller role in Game 6, as Dallas is likely to lean heavily on its top-four group in an elimination game.

Arttu Hyry Unlikely to Play Thursday

Dallas Stars right wing Arttu Hyry (lower body) likely won't be available on Thursday for Game 6 against the Minnesota Wild, R.J. Coyle of The Dallas Morning News reports. The Finnish forward was limited to 3:34 of ice time due to a lower-body injury in Tuesday's Game 5. "He's gonna get looked at tomorrow, but obviously he didn't get through the game," Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan told reporters. "I would say it's highly unlikely he'll be a player for us Thursday." On Tuesday night, Hyry made his fourth career Stanley Cup Playoffs appearance. He hasn't yet made an offensive impact but has seven hits in this series. Hyry's absence might give Michael Bunting a chance to make his 2026 postseason debut.

Roope Hintz Likely to Miss Entire First-Round Series

Dallas Stars center Roope Hintz (lower body) is not expected to return to action during the first-round series against the Minnesota Wild. Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan has ruled Hintz out for Tuesday's Game 5 and Thursday's Game 6. He is also considered unlikely to play in a potential Game 7. A lower-body injury knocked Hintz out of the lineup on March 6. With Hintz absent, Justin Hryckowian has skated on the first line in the playoffs. He has been a physical force, recording 15 hits, but his offensive production has been limited. In four games, Hryckowian has contributed one assist and managed only one SOG.

Nils Lundkvist Won't Play Tuesday

Dallas Stars defenseman Nils Lundkvist (face) won't be available for Game 5 against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. He sustained a deep facial laceration in Saturday's Game 4 loss and missed Monday's practice. "We should see him before this series is over, but you won't see him tomorrow," Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan said after the practice session. In four postseason games, Lundkvist has recorded two assists, two SOG, six blocks, two hits, and a plus-one rating. Dallas will replace Lundkvist on Tuesday with Ilya Lyubushkin, Alexander Petrovic, or Kyle Capobianco.

Roope Hintz "Ways Away" From Returning

Dallas Stars center Roope Hintz (lower body) resumed skating on Wednesday, Lia Assimakopoulos of the Dallas Morning News reports. This is a significant step toward returning to the lineup, but Hintz's comeback isn't imminent. "He's still a ways away," Stars head coach Gulutzan said. "Your next step before we kind of see where he's at is probably to skate with us, so we'll see when he's ready to do that." Hintz hasn't traveled with the team to Saint Paul and will miss Saturday's Game 4 of the first-round series against the Minnesota Wild. He is also highly doubtful to play in Game 5, scheduled for Tuesday in Dallas. Justin Hryckowian has been effective on the first line this postseason and is likely to keep his spot until Hintz returns.

Jason Robertson Scores in Sixth Straight Playoff Game

Dallas Stars winger Jason Robertson recorded a goal and two assists in Wednesday's nail-biting 4-3 double-overtime victory against the Minnesota Wild. In the first period, he scored at even strength and later contributed two power-play assists, one of which set up Wyatt Johnston's game-winner 12:10 into the second overtime. Since last year's Western Conference Finals, Robertson has scored in six consecutive playoff games. He will have a chance to extend his goal streak in Game 4 on Saturday. So far, only seven American players in NHL history have scored in each of the first four games to begin a postseason campaign.

Matt Duchene Records Second Consecutive Multi-Point Game

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchane tallied three points in Wednesday's 4-3 double-overtime victory in Game 3 against the Minnesota Wild. After picking up two points in Game 2, Duchene showed he has not cooled off, collecting two assists in the first period and scoring a 3-3 game-tying goal in the third. Two of his points, including the vital goal midway through the third frame, came on the power play. Duchene's postseason production has been a huge bonus for the Stars. Despite the team's recent deep playoff runs, Duchene hasn't managed more than six points. He could now finish the first round this year with more points than he's had in either of his previous postseason campaigns with the Stars.

Roope Hintz Doubtful for Game 4

Dallas Stars center Roope Hintz (lower body) is considered doubtful for Game 4 against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. After the teams split the first two games, the series will shift to Saint Paul on Wednesday, and Hintz hasn't traveled with the team. The Finnish forward has been nursing a lower-body injury since early March. Despite his absence, the Stars finished the regular season strongly. They also kicked into gear in Game 2 against Minnesota, with Wyatt Johnston, Hintz's replacement as the top-line center, scoring twice in the 4-2 victory.

Wyatt Johnston Notches Two Goals in Game 2 Win

Dallas Stars forward Wyatt Johnston produced two goals in Monday's Game 2 against the Minnesota Wild, helping his team to a 4-2 win. He opened the scoring with an even-strength tally and iced the game with an empty-netter. The 22-year-old rebounded well from his disappointing outing in the series opener, where Johnston had a minus-three rating. With Roope Hintz (lower body) sidelined, Johnston operates as Dallas' first-line center and has relished the opportunity. Dating back to the regular season, Johnston has tallied nine points (six goals, three assists) in his last seven outings.

Roope Hintz to Miss at Least Two More Games

Dallas Stars center Roope Hintz (lower body) will be unavailable for at least two more games, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports. He will sit out Monday's Game 2 against the Minnesota Wild and isn't expected to be in the lineup for Wednesday's Game 3 either. Hintz last played on March 6 and isn't even skating on his own yet, which suggests he isn't close to returning. In Hintz's absence, Justin Hryckowian has gotten an opportunity on the first line at the start of the postseason. In Game 1, Hryckowian failed to register any attempts on the net but led his team with six hits in 13:00 of ice time.

Miro Heiskanen Cleared for Game 1

Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen (lower body) will play in Game 1 against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports. The Finnish defensive star was unavailable for the last three regular-season games due to a lower-body injury. Heiskanen finished the campaign as the NHL's ninth-highest scoring defenseman, posting 63 points (nine goals, 54 assists) in 77 contests. He averaged a point per game in four meetings with the Wild. As a member of the first defensive pairing and the top power-play unit, Heiskanen is set to have a huge workload in the playoffs and will be a popular pick among DFS managers.

Esa Lindell  • D  •  Stars

Esa Lindell Tallies Two Points in Regular-Season Finale

Dallas Stars defenseman Esa Lindell registered one goal and one assist as the team wrapped up the regular season with a 4-3 shootout victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday. Lindell assisted Mavrick Bourque during even-strength play in the first period and potted a power-play goal in the second. This was LIndell's second multi-point effort in four games. With Miro Heiskanen (lower body) absent from the blue line, Lindell has seen increased power-play time late in the season. Heiskanen is iffy for the start of the postseason, so Lindell could continue to have an expanded role for a few more games. He finished the regular season with a career-high-matching 32 points (six goals, 26 assists), 83 shots, 179 blocks, and a team-best plus-30 rating in 82 games.

Sam Steel  • C  •  Stars

Sam Steel Back in Action Wednesday

Dallas Stars center Sam Steel (hip) will play in Wednesday's regular-season finale against the Buffalo Sabres. The 28-year-old had been ever-present in the Stars' lineup this season before landing on the shelf with a hip injury in late March and missing nine games. Steel has bagged a career-high 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) in 72 outings. He has benefited from Dallas' many injuries, and this might also be the case during the playoffs, as Roope Hintz (lower body) has already been ruled out for at least the first two postseason games. On Wednesday night, Steel will get a look on the top line next to Wyatt Johnston and Mikko Rantanen.

Nils Lundkvist Returns for Regular-Season Finale

Dallas Stars defenseman Nils Lundkvist (personal) will be in the lineup on Wednesday against the Buffalo Sabres. Last week, it was reported that Lundkvist exited the lineup due to illness, but he was actually away from the team for the birth of his first child. Lundkvist has made 51 appearances this season, recording 11 points (three goals, eight assists), 46 SOG, 47 blocks, and a plus-11 rating. With Miro Heiskanen (lower body) on the shelf, Lundkvist figures to have a more prominent role in Wednesday's regular-season finale. He might also see more ice time during the postseason, as Heiskanen is questionable for the start of the playoffs.
