Dallas Stars defenseman Esa Lindell (rest) will not be in the lineup on Monday against the Detroit Red Wings. He will sit out a second consecutive game for rest purposes. Dallas is set to begin the playoffs without Miro Heiskanen (knee) and will need Lindell and Thomas Harley (rest) to be as fresh as possible, so the two are getting some time off near the end of the regular season. Lindell leads the team with 170 blocks and has contributed five goals and 21 assists in 79 games. In the absence of Lindell and Harley, Alexander Petrovic and Brendan Smith have joined the lineup.

Dallas Stars defenseman Esa Lindell has agreed to a five-year, $26.25 million extension. The new deal locks Lindell up through the 2029-30 season, with the 30-year-old set to play out the final campaign of his current six-year, $34.8 million contract in 2024-25. Lindell has been Mr. Reliable for Dallas for a number of years and hasn't even missed a single game across the last two seasons. He notched 26 points (five goals, 21 assists) last term and led the team with 162 blocks. Lindell's numbers should be there or thereabouts again in 2024-25 as he continues to chuck up massive minutes as a vital part of the team's defense.

Dallas Stars defenseman Esa Lindell (illness) appears ready to return to the lineup Wednesday against Edmonton. He was a late scratch with a non-COVID illness for Monday's 6-2 loss to Vancouver but has had some time to rest now and took part in the morning skate. Lindell has been a nice asset for fantasy managers with his defensive stats, recording 106 hits and 141 blocks in 70 games, and he's also managed to compile 24 points while averaging 22:06 of ice time. Andrej Sekera is dropping out of the lineup to make room for Lindell.
