Dougie Hamilton a Game-Time Call Tuesday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (lower body) is a game-time decision for Tuesday's meeting with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has sat out four games with a lower-body injury. In 14 appearances, Hamilton has notched four goals and seven points. He has done all of his scoring across four outings, which shows that things haven't really clicked for Hamilton this campaign. In the Devils defense, Brenden Dillon (undisclosed) is also considered a game-time call for Tuesday after he got hurt in Saturday's win over the Washington Capitals.

Dougie Hamilton to Miss at Least One Week

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (lower body) will be out of action for at least one week. He missed his first game of the season on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Unfortunately, Hamilton has constantly battled injuries in recent years, and now he's back on the sidelines with a lower-body issue. Prior to his exit from the lineup, Hamilton had registered seven points (four goals, three assists), 35 shots, 18 blocks, and 15 hits in 14 games. With him out, Luke Hughes saw a major boost in playing time on Saturday. Meanwhile, Colton White entered the lineup on the third defensive pairing.

Dougie Hamilton Exits Early Thursday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (undisclosed) made an early exit against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night. His final shift in the game was five minutes into the second period. The team plans to evaluate Hamilton on Friday. While the Devils are crushing it, the 2025-26 campaign hasn't been too kind for Hamilton. He's averaging big minutes on the back end, including over two minutes of power-play time, but Hamilton has been limited to seven points (four goals, three assists) in 14 appearances. Six of the points came during a four-game hot spell at the end of last month. The Devils are carrying Colton White as an extra defenseman, and he will enter the lineup if Hamilton has to miss some time. Luke Hughes is set to step into his role on the top power-play unit.

Dougie Hamilton Returns To Action Wednesday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (lower body) will re-enter the lineup on Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings. The talented blue-liner has made a quicker-than-expected recovery from a lower-body injury, as initial reports suggested that he may not even be ready for Round 1 of the playoffs. Hamilton last played on March 4. He has been a two-way force while in the lineup, recording 40 points (nine goals, 31 assists), 81 blocks, and 74 hits in 63 outings. With Luke Hughes (rest), Brett Pesce (rest), and Johnathan Kovacevic (rest) out of the lineup on Wednesday, Hamilton should see plenty of action to get rid of some rust ahead of the postseason.

Dougie Hamilton Could Be Ready To Return For Start Of Playoffs

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (lower body) could be ready to hop back into the lineup when the Stanley Cup Playoffs start. The Devils still have some work to do to secure their playoff berth but are well-placed to extend their season. When Hamilton suffered a lower-body injury in March, Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald mentioned that the team was "not planning on" having Hamilton back for the second round of the postseason. However, Hamilton appears to be making good progress, and Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters on Tuesday that "there's a chance" the veteran blue-liner could return for the first round. Hamilton finished the regular season with 40 points (nine goals, 31 assists) in 63 games. In his absence, Luke Hughes has had additional fantasy value, becoming the Devils' top-scoring defenseman with 42 points (seven goals, 35 assists) in 68 contests.

Dougie Hamilton To Miss Rest Of Regular Season

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (lower body) has been ruled out for the rest of the regular season. He will be out for a fourth consecutive game on Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers. Hamilton could be an option for the Devils in the playoffs if the team makes it past the first round. Jonas Siegenthaler (lower body) has also been ruled out for the remainder of the season, so New Jersey's backline has taken a couple of really bad blows recently. Luke Hughes has taken over from Hamilton on the first power-play unit and will look to keep up his recent good form on Thursday. Over the past four games, he has tallied five points (one goal, four assists).

Dougie Hamilton Remains Under Evaluation

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (lower body) is still under evaluation and won't play on Friday against the Winnipeg Jets. Hamilton suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday's loss to the Dallas Stars. Friday will mark Hamilton's first absence of the season. He has tallied 40 points (nine goals, 31 assists) across 63 games. Seamus Casey is set to rejoin the action on Friday, while Luke Hughes will take over Hamilton's duties on the first power-play unit. The 21-year-old can be highly effective with the man advantage. Through 54 appearances, Hughes has earned 28 points (five goals, 23 assists), with eight assists coming on the power play.

Dougie Hamilton Sustains Lower-Body Injury

New Jersey Devils goaltender Dougie Hamilton (lower body) exited early during Tuesday's contest against the Dallas Stars. Hamilton logged just over five minutes of ice time before exiting. He tallied two blocked and held a -1 rating. After the contest, head coach Sheldon Keefe said he did not have an update on his status. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring his status leading up to their next game on Friday evening against the Winnipeg Jets. If Hamilton were to miss time, Seamus Casey would draw into the starting lineup. Luke Hughes would likely see an increase in power-play opportunities as well. Through 63 games this season, Hamilton has found the back of the net nine times and added 31 helpers. He has logged 74 hits and 81 blocked shots. He remains a solid option in all standard formats when healthy.

Dougie Hamilton Records Two Assists In Sunday's Win

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton had a two-assist night as the team beat Anaheim 6-2 on Sunday. Hamilton collected his first helper on a power-play goal by Stefan Noesen in the second period, which ended up as the game-winning marker, and he tallied his second assist when Nico Hischier scored his league-leading ninth goal of the campaign early in the third. Last season, Hamilton was limited to only 20 appearances due to injury, and he hasn't been very productive to start the 2024-25 campaign. However, the talented blue-liner has been back to his best lately, collecting all six of his points this season across the last six games. Four of the points have come in power-play situations. Hamilton and the Devils take on Vancouver next but then play against two teams with poor penalty-killing records: Calgary and Edmonton.

Dougie Hamilton Could Have Returned For Playoffs

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (pectoral) said he could perhaps have made it back to the lineup for the postseason, but the club was unable to qualify for the playoffs. The blue-liner has missed the past 62 games of the regular season due to a torn left pectoral muscle suffered in a Dec. 1 contest and missed the remainder of the regular season. "I've been skating and stuff, so the plan was kind of to target playoffs," the blue-liner said. "But unfortunately we don't have that chance. It was hard not being out there with the guys, win or lose, going through it with them. It definitely makes you realize you can't take things for granted." The veteran's season will end with five goals and 16 points across 20 games for the under-performing Devils in the 2023-24 campaign.

Dougie Hamilton Shifts To LTIR

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (Pectoral) moved to LTIR Thursday. The move doesn't come as a surprise, as Hamilton has been out since November 28 with a torn pectoral muscle and isn't expected to return until March at the earliest. Before the injury, Hamilton had 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 20 games. It is tough to roster him in leagues with limited IR space, but he is a great player to add in leagues where he is on the wire and IR spots aren't filled.

Simon Nemec Called Up To Devils Friday, Dougie Hamilton Placed On IR

New Jersey Devils defense prospect Simon Nemec has been recalled from the Utica Comets of the AHL. The second pick of the 2022 NHL draft will likely make his debut at some point soon with Dougie Hamilton (upper body) going on IR Friday. The 19-year-old has looked the part in the AHL so far, posting eight points (two goals, six assists) in 13 games so far this season after collecting 34 points in 65 games last year. He will likely be given sheltered minutes to start his NHL career but could see second powerplay duties. Nemec should be rostered in all dynasty leagues.

Dougie Hamilton Won't Play On Thursday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (upper body) will miss Thursday's clash with Philadelphia. He was injured in Tuesday's matchup against the Islanders and is still being evaluated. The 30-year-old exits the lineup having earned 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 20 games. Hamilton averages the most ice time among Devils skaters, so he'll be a big miss for the team. Brendan Smith is expected to take his spot next to Jonas Siegenthaler on Thursday.

Dougie Hamilton Leaves Game Early Tuesday, Undergoing Evaluation

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (upper body) left Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders after the second period and did not return. Head Coach Lindy Ruff didn't say whether or not Hamilton would be available Thursday as he is still being evaluated. The 30-year-old has put up 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 20 games this season as part of the Devils first pairing and second powerplay unit. That production will be hard to replace from the back end and no one on the Devils blueline looks like the clear frontrunner to take over Hamilton's duties if he does miss time.

Dougie Hamilton Takes Down Vegas With Two Goals

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton produced a game-winning performance against Vegas on Tuesday, lifting the team to a 3-2 victory with two goals. New Jersey was facing a defeat late in the game when Hamilton struck his first goal, and he went on to become the sixth defenseman in NHL history to score overtime goals in consecutive team games. Brent Burns was the last one to do it in 2007. Hamilton's sharpness in front of the net has put him tied for third among defensemen with 13 goals. He's also the seventh-best scorer overall among all blue-liners with 42 points. The 29-year-old has suddenly found his flow after recording only 16 points in the first two months of the season.

Dougie Hamilton Tallies Two Points In Sunday's Win

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton made a major impact with his 12th multi-point performance of the season Sunday against Pittsburgh, assisting Jack Hughes on his 30th goal of the campaign and hitting a 2-1 game-winning goal with the man advantage 2:07 into overtime. Half of Hamilton's multi-point efforts have come since Dec. 21, so he has been enjoying a few red-hot weeks. The 29-year-old is now on 40 points through 46 games, which means that it's only a matter of time until Hamilton sets his new scoring record. His current best is a 50-point effort from 2016-17.

Dougie Hamilton Set For Thursday Return

The 28-year-old missed 17 consecutive games after suffering a jaw injury on Jan. 2 and undergoing surgery two days later. Hamilton has totaled seven goals, 13 assists and 20 points through 30 games, while averaging 21:25 of ice time per game and contributing with 47 blocked shots.
