Jonas Siegenthaler Considered A Game-Time Decision Tuesday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler (undisclosed) is a game-time decision for Tuesday's matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes. Siegenthaler has played in two games in the series after returning from a lower-body injury, but he may be sidelined again on Tuesday night. Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe planned to ease Siegenthaler back into action, but with the blue line banged up, the Swiss rearguard has averaged 23:32 of ice time over his first two games since returning from injury. He has recorded one shot on goal, seven hits, six blocks, and six penalty minutes, along with a minus-two rating.

Jonas Siegenthaler To Play Limited Minutes In Game 3

New Jersey Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler (lower body) is on track to rejoin the lineup on Friday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. He has not played since Feb. 4 due to a lower-body injury. Initially, the 27-year-old was not expected to play at all in the first-round series. However, Siegenthaler has recovered well, and the Devils need to bolster their defense after losing Luke Hughes (upper body) and Braden Dillon (lower body). Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters on Friday morning that Siegenthaler will have a "reduced role" in Friday's game. He is set to replace Dennis Cholowski on the third defensive pairing. Siegenthaler finished the regular season with nine points (two goals, seven assists), 52 shots, 92 blocks, and 75 hits in 55 games.

Jonas Siegenthaler Returns To Practice

New Jersey Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler (lower body) practiced with the team on Thursday for the first time since sustaining a lower-body injury on Feb. 4. New Jersey lost Luke Hughes (upper body) in Game 1 against the Carolina Hurricanes and could use some reinforcement on defense; however, it remains uncertain whether Siegenthaler will join the lineup for Friday's Game 3. Siegenthaler posted nine points (two goals, seven assists), 92 blocks, and 75 hits in 55 regular-season games. He has made 28 career playoff appearances in the NHL, registering one goal and two assists.

Jonas Siegenthaler Out With Concussion

New Jersey Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler is out indefinitely with a concussion suffered when he was elbowed in the head by New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe on Monday. Rempe was suspended four games for the incident. The 26-year-old is a key piece of the Devils' blueline, even if he doesn't offer much at the offensive end of the ice. He has recorded just one goal and nine points in 49 games this season but has 69 hits and 79 blocks to his credit as part of his 19:25 of average ice time per game. He was a plus-27 a season ago but has slipped to a minus-four rating on a disappointing Devils team that sits sixth in the division with a 31-30-4 record on the season and six points back of the New York Islanders for the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Jonas Siegenthaler Out With Broken Foot

New Jersey Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler is facing a lengthy absence after breaking his foot in Saturday's loss to Vancouver. He was injured in the second period when Siegenthaler blocked a shot. The 26-year-old has tallied eight points (one goal, seven assists) across 38 appearances in 2023-24. Siegenthaler provides very little offensively, but he's the team leader with 58 blocks and has also racked up 48 hits this season while averaging just below 20 minutes of playing time. Luke Hughes looks set for a larger role without Siegenthaler on the left side of the Devils' defense.
