Dougie Hamilton Could Have Returned For Playoffs

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (pectoral) said he could perhaps have made it back to the lineup for the postseason, but the club was unable to qualify for the playoffs. The blue-liner has missed the past 62 games of the regular season due to a torn left pectoral muscle suffered in a Dec. 1 contest and missed the remainder of the regular season. "I've been skating and stuff, so the plan was kind of to target playoffs," the blue-liner said. "But unfortunately we don't have that chance. It was hard not being out there with the guys, win or lose, going through it with them. It definitely makes you realize you can't take things for granted." The veteran's season will end with five goals and 16 points across 20 games for the under-performing Devils in the 2023-24 campaign.

Dougie Hamilton Shifts To LTIR

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (Pectoral) moved to LTIR Thursday. The move doesn't come as a surprise, as Hamilton has been out since November 28 with a torn pectoral muscle and isn't expected to return until March at the earliest. Before the injury, Hamilton had 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 20 games. It is tough to roster him in leagues with limited IR space, but he is a great player to add in leagues where he is on the wire and IR spots aren't filled.

Simon Nemec Called Up To Devils Friday, Dougie Hamilton Placed On IR

New Jersey Devils defense prospect Simon Nemec has been recalled from the Utica Comets of the AHL. The second pick of the 2022 NHL draft will likely make his debut at some point soon with Dougie Hamilton (upper body) going on IR Friday. The 19-year-old has looked the part in the AHL so far, posting eight points (two goals, six assists) in 13 games so far this season after collecting 34 points in 65 games last year. He will likely be given sheltered minutes to start his NHL career but could see second powerplay duties. Nemec should be rostered in all dynasty leagues.

Dougie Hamilton Won't Play On Thursday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (upper body) will miss Thursday's clash with Philadelphia. He was injured in Tuesday's matchup against the Islanders and is still being evaluated. The 30-year-old exits the lineup having earned 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 20 games. Hamilton averages the most ice time among Devils skaters, so he'll be a big miss for the team. Brendan Smith is expected to take his spot next to Jonas Siegenthaler on Thursday.

Dougie Hamilton Leaves Game Early Tuesday, Undergoing Evaluation

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (upper body) left Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders after the second period and did not return. Head Coach Lindy Ruff didn't say whether or not Hamilton would be available Thursday as he is still being evaluated. The 30-year-old has put up 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 20 games this season as part of the Devils first pairing and second powerplay unit. That production will be hard to replace from the back end and no one on the Devils blueline looks like the clear frontrunner to take over Hamilton's duties if he does miss time.

Dougie Hamilton Makes History Against Arizona

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton had two assists in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win against the Coyotes, surpassing Scott Stevens for the most multi-point games in a season by a blue-liner in franchise history. Hamilton helped Timo Meier to mark his debut with a goal and assisted Nico Hischier on the game-winning goal early into overtime, earning his 18th multi-point performance of the campaign. it's been a hugely impressive season for Hamilton, who has set a new career high with 61 points in 62 games. He has failed to get on the score sheet just eight times since Dec. 3 and will enter the next matchup with a five-game point streak.

Dougie Hamilton Notches Three Assists

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton helped to set up three goals in Monday's 5-4 overtime victory against the Canucks. The performance extended his point streak to five games and Hamilton has now had three assists twice in the last three games. He collected a pair of even-strength helpers early in the game and finished off his work with a power-play assist in the extra frame. Hamilton led all skaters with 24:10 of ice time and had a busy time overall, registering four blocks, one hit and two penalty minutes. With 49 points to his name, Hamilton has set a new Devils record for the most points by a defenseman in franchise history through 50 contests in a season.

Dougie Hamilton Takes Down Vegas With Two Goals

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton produced a game-winning performance against Vegas on Tuesday, lifting the team to a 3-2 victory with two goals. New Jersey was facing a defeat late in the game when Hamilton struck his first goal, and he went on to become the sixth defenseman in NHL history to score overtime goals in consecutive team games. Brent Burns was the last one to do it in 2007. Hamilton's sharpness in front of the net has put him tied for third among defensemen with 13 goals. He's also the seventh-best scorer overall among all blue-liners with 42 points. The 29-year-old has suddenly found his flow after recording only 16 points in the first two months of the season.

Dougie Hamilton Tallies Two Points In Sunday's Win

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton made a major impact with his 12th multi-point performance of the season Sunday against Pittsburgh, assisting Jack Hughes on his 30th goal of the campaign and hitting a 2-1 game-winning goal with the man advantage 2:07 into overtime. Half of Hamilton's multi-point efforts have come since Dec. 21, so he has been enjoying a few red-hot weeks. The 29-year-old is now on 40 points through 46 games, which means that it's only a matter of time until Hamilton sets his new scoring record. His current best is a 50-point effort from 2016-17.

Dougie Hamilton Picks Up Three Points Tuesday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton enjoyed his first three-point game of the season Tuesday, recording a goal and two assists in a 3-0 win over Chicago. He opened the scoring 11:27 into the game and went on to pick up a pair of assists in the second period, one of which came on the power play. Hamilton was plus-two for the game and matched Chicago's Patrick Kane for most shots on goal in the contest with seven efforts. The Devils have come from nowhere to dominate the league, and Hamilton has been one of the key performers with 19 points, 94 shots, 23 hits, 25 blocks and a plus-15 rating in 26 games.

Dougie Hamilton Set For Thursday Return

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton (jaw) will return to the lineup against the Penguins on Thursday. The 28-year-old missed 17 consecutive games after suffering a jaw injury on Jan. 2 and undergoing surgery two days later. Hamilton has totaled seven goals, 13 assists and 20 points through 30 games, while averaging 21:25 of ice time per game and contributing with 47 blocked shots. Fantasy managers can activate Hamilton across all fantasy formats as he will provide value down the stretch of the season.

Dougie Hamilton Out Indefinitely With A Broken Jaw

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton has been diagnosed with a broken jaw and he'll be out of the lineup indefinitely. The 28-year-old took a puck to his face early in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win against Washington and is set to undergo surgery on Wednesday. Hamilton's absence leaves a huge gap on the Devils blue line, as he averages nearly 21 and a half minutes per game and is among the team's leading scorers with 20 points in 30 games. Damon Severson logged nearly 30 minutes against Washington and will have to get used to a heavier workload. P.K. Subban also had a busy outing against the Capitals and will likely move up in the lineup.

Dougie Hamilton Piles On The Shots And More Sunday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton was an offensive force on Sunday. He piled up a bunch of scoring chances and ten shots on goal. He was on the ice for 12 of the 13 high-danger chances New Jersey created during the second period alone. Hamilton scored via a solid feed from Andreas Johnsson to open the scoring. His goal was Hamilton's sixth of the season and 11th point in 16 games. Hamilton has done this without Jack Hughes. Just imagine what New Jersey and Hamilton will be able to do when the forward returns.

And the big one that we're focusing on right now: NHL weekly salary cap contests! In this article, I will be providing you with my weekly fantasy hockey lineup picks on OwnersBox for the Saturday-Friday Contest of the Week for Week 7 (Nov 20-Nov 27). This contest is not anything like a standard DFS contest or your season-long leagues. Read my picks below, and then join us in this tournament as we battle it out for the cash prizes!Again please note the extra Saturday because of Thanksgiving. This is important. Some players will play as many as five times this week. $5K Contest Once More for Week 7!OwnersBox is hooking up RotoBaller readers to celebrate the launch of their new salary cap style contests,so be sure to take advantage of these promo offers! Join this week's freeroll on OwnersBox - the contest is completely free to enterfor new users with code NHL10, and there's a $5,000 cash guaranteed prize pool. You can also enter up to 18 lineups at $10 per lineup if you want more chances to win.You can enter up until Saturday, November 20 at 6:55 pm ET. OwnersBox Forward PicksOn OwnersBox, you have the option of picking five forwards in all. The forwards can play up to 16 games total. That is the max. Once one exceeds that total, the lineup reverts to the best ball format. Also, one can swap players with a 20% fee.Connor McDavid, EDM ($12,500) - vs CHI, DAL, ARZ, VGKFew teams have been more fun to watch than the Edmonton Oilers. Connor McDavid is the penultimate reason why. The fact that he has three plus matchups this week and arguably four speaks volumes. Yes, he takes up 25% of cap space on OwnersBox. However, there are always ways to get around that. The road trip goes to Dallas and Arizona on back to back nights and then Vegas next Saturday. There is that much-anticipated home game against Chicago on Saturday. That could be an up and down goal-fest. For that alone, the risk is worth rostering McDavid. Now, do not expect McDavid to produce less than 15 points a night here under the OwnersBox format. The question becomes 20? More maybe? There are several chances for the center to pile on the points here. That alone is worth spending up for.Kyle Connor WPG ($9,200) - vs PIT, CLB, MIN, CGYIt's been some crazy kind of ride for Kyle Connor this season and the debate has begun. He is like an Alex Ovechkin. Why pay $11,500 when one can pay just $9,200? Exactly! The best part is that Connor enjoys good matchups the whole week, aside from maybe Columbus. Even then, when a winger has a little speed, a propensity to shoot the puck, and gets in great position often, that is a recipe for success. Again, Connor can easily top five shots a game this week. He can pot several goals again as well. It is that kind of upside that makes us happy he is still priced under $10,000.Winnipeg and Connor has not run out of steam and they may continue to produce above their usual norms. Meanwhile, this is just one of those Week 7 plays that can be stackable with defensemen from the Jets as well.Editor's note: Consider Vladimir Tarasenko who plays five times this week. His price may only be $8,000 but there are enough good matchups to take a shot at this dangled carrot.OwnersBox Defensemen PicksZach Werenski, CLB ($5,800) - vs VGK, BUF, WPG, VAN, STLAnother week and let's look at a more pricy defenseman first. That is right. While Roman Josi is an option, he is at $7,300 and also plays five times this week. Werenski represents a savings of $1,500 and could get nearly the same production value. The Columbus blueliner keeps seeing more and more opportunities in all phases -- especially the man advantage. He has several assists there and now is up into the double-digits in real-world points after just 14 games.Again, it is the role that keeps boosting a player like Werenski. No one cares about any defensive shortcoming perhaps. This is all about points and point potential. There are excellent matchups like Buffalo and Vancouver alone. Both of these teams bleed goals lately. Vancouver's penalty kill is on a level of disaster that Werenski has to be utilized. Even the Blues game could be higher-scoring than expected. Please again note that several nice defensive options are out there this week. With Bowen Byram injured, Devon Toews has returned and slots in nicely with Cale Makar once again in Colorado. Consider Jakob Chychrun as a buy-low candidate. He is just $4,400 and plays four times this week. Finally, Dougie Hamilton only plays twice in this format but if one has space, spend up with matchups against Minnesota and Nashville.OwnersBox Goaltender PicksRobin Lehner, VGK ($11,400) - vs CLS, STL, EDMRobin Lehner has been seeing increasing volume and now is getting hot at the right time. The goaltender is 7-6-0 in 13 starts with a solid 2.93 goals-against-average and a nice .917 save percentage. That is far from average for a goalie who feels under siege on an almost nightly basis. The goaltender's career save percentage is .920. He has allowed just 37 goals on the year and faced a league-high 444 shots already.Honestly, Columbus, St. Louis, and Edmonton can all pile on shots. Lehner has faced 35+ shots in four of his last five starts. The beat goes on for him this next week while stopping to eat some turkey.John Gibson, ANA ($10,500) - vs NSH, COL, OTTThe Anaheim Ducks keep playing well and it is still wise to try and roster a goaltender like Gibson because his shot volume against should increase. Gibson can steal games by himself as he nearly did against Carolina on Thursday night.Gibson is cheaper by goalie standards at $10,500. For goaltenders, that is not as much of a risk as one would think. Is the goaltender going to stay around 25 OwnersBox points a game? No. Would 20-22 be reasonable? Probably. The nice part is that Gibson historically does have a little success versus Nashville and Colorado. The Anaheim goaltender might even see 35+ shots against Colorado.Another option to watch maybe to just scour for backups who just play once. It is a cheap way to stream then play the swap fee to accumulate more points. For example, Scott Wedgewood is just $9,200 and could make a ton of saves. He only plays twice more than likely but this could be worth it. Maybe look at Stuart Skinner who may see a start and is just $9,000. Sample LineupHere's a lineup I built using some of the players from this article and yes, this uses the entire $200,000 cap:

OwnersBox Week 6 NHL Lineup Picks: Contest of the Week - Weekly Fantasy Hockey

Welcome back RotoBallers! The forwards can play up to 16 games total. That is the max. Once one exceeds that total, the lineup reverts to the best ball format. Also, one can swap players with a 20% fee.Mika Zibanejad, NYR ($7,500) - vs DET, NJ, MON, TORFew teams have been as interesting as the New York Rangers. They are regularly projected to score at least three goals every night this week. One of the biggest beneficiaries of this may just be Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin. They make for impressive potential as at some point this duo will wake up from their comatose state at even strength. The road trip continues in Columbus then New York entertains New Jersey and Montreal before heading to Toronto in order to end the week. Both of these guys are a good deal off from their normal early-season usual selves. Now, do not expect New York's top center-wing combination to stay dormant for much longer. As the chances increases so will the points. The duo may be as low-salaried they will mKirill Kaprizov MIN ($7,500) - vs STL, VAN, SEA, SJ, VGKIt's been some kind of ride for Kaprizov owners this week as the Minnesota winger starts to heat up at just the right time. Kaprizov has nine points in 11 games on 41 shots. Kaprizov has just a couple of goals on the season. However, this is a player who has seen some jumps in ice time along with production. It is fun to see about Mats Zuccarello as a stacking partner here. There are the Minnesota defensemen like Matt Dumba to consider as well. Even look further down the available players' pool. There are some game ideas to ponder also.Minnesota has not run out of steam and they may continue to produce above their usual norms. Meanwhile, Kaprizov is likely to net a few goals in the next week which mean double-digit point totals all Week 6 long.Editor's note: Consider Artemi Panarin who plays four times this week. His price may only be $8,300 but Toronto and Montreal are prime matchups. New Jersey and Columbus are not so bad either. Panarin's price has slowly come down each week. At some point, he is going to snap out of his even-strength funk.OwnersBox Defensemen PicksShayne Gostisbehere, ARZ ($4,500) - vs NSH, STL, CLSAnother week and let's look at a value defenseman first. That is right. Shayne Gostisbehere finds a way to get more points on one of the worst teams this decade in the Arizona Coyotes. The Arizona blueliner keeps seeing more and more opportunities in all phases -- especially the man advantage. He has several assists there and now is up into the double-digits in real-world points after just 13 games.Again, it is the role that boosts the value of Gostisbehere. Arizona, most nights, is playing from so far behind that "score effects" take over often. The point is one does not have to spend up for a Kris Letang or Dougie Hamilton though the option is always there. Please again note that several nice defensive options are out there this week. Bowen Byram and Artem Zub head our list again. Zub is also in the lower tier. Byram is rather cheap and will get more scoring chances with Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar in the Colorado lineup.OwnersBox Goaltender PicksRobin Lehner, VGK ($11,100) - vs VAN, CAR, DETRobin Lehner has been seeing increasing volume and now is getting hot at the right time. The goaltender is 6-5-0 in 11 starts with a solid 2.72 goals-against-average and an improving .919 save percentage. That is far from average for a goalie who feels under siege on an almost nightly basis. The goaltender's career save percentage is .920. He has allowed just 29 goals on the year and faced a league-high 359 shots already.Vancouver and Detroit on the road have produced lightly this year which should allow Saros to put up some points. Lehner is priced high but the goaltender is on a nice, homestand at just the right time.John Gibson, ANA ($10,200) - vs VAN, WSH, CARHis early start on the season was noticed largely because so few people expected the Anaheim Ducks to have eight wins at press time.Gibson is cheaper by goalie standards at $10,200. For goaltenders, that is not as much of a risk as one would think. Is the goaltender going to stay around 25 OwnersBox points a game? No. Would 20-22 be reasonable? Probably. The nice part is that Gibson will see plenty of shot volume, especially versus Washington and Carolina. The Anaheim goaltender should benefit as Carolina and Washington just are not quite as good on the road.Another option to watch maybe to just scour for backups who just play once. It is a cheap way to stream then play the swap fee to accumulate more points. For example, Marc-Andre Fleury would be a wild choice at $10,000. He only plays once against Seattle though. Sample LineupHere's a lineup I built using some of the players from this article:

Dougie Hamilton Nets Fourth Goal Of The Season

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Dougie Hamilton found the back of the net for the fourth time this season in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Dallas. Fellow blueliner Haydn Fleury also scored to open his account for the year. Hamilton recorded a game-high nine shots in the loss with two blocks and two hits. The 27-year-old has set all kinds of records with his assists this season, but he's had awful puck luck so far as he went into Saturday's matchup with a 2.7 shooting percentage for the year. It's by far the worst he's had in his career, so it's only logical that Hamilton finally starts to add some goals to his tally. He potted just one goal in his first 25 appearances this season but has managed to add three in 11 outings since then. Hamilton is currently red-hot with only one pointless effort since the start of last month.

Dougie Hamilton Extends Point Streak To 11 Games

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Dougie Hamilton picked up an assist in his team's 3-2 shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, extending his personal point streak to 11 games. The 27-year-old also appeared to have ended the game with a power-play tally in overtime but a league-invoked offside review overturned the goal. Hamilton is once again proving to be one of the most valuable blueliners in fantasy hockey this season - having posted 24 points (three goals, 21 assists), a plus-six rating, 94 shots and 25 hits in 30 contests. He'll look to keep the hot streak rolling in another matchup versus the Jackets on Monday.

Dougie Hamilton Goes Off For 11 Shots

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Dougie Hamilton was like a man possessed in Tuesday's matchup with the Red Wings, registering 11 shots on goal. To put it into context, Hamilton had 16 shots this month prior to the game. He also notched an assist in the 4-2 loss, to extend his point streak to nine games. The 27-year-old now leads all defensemen with shots on goal this season, having fired off 89 efforts. He's added 30 blocks and 24 hits while picking up 22 points in 28 games. The Hurricanes now start a four-game set versus Columbus, against whom Hamilton has produced 10 shots and two points in three outings this season.

Dougie Hamilton Makes Hurricanes History With Another Assist

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Dougie Hamilton had a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-1 win over Nashville, extending his assist streak to seven games. It marks the longest assist streak by a Hurricanes defenseman since the franchise moved to Raleigh. Hamilton was on his way to a huge year in 2019-20 before an injury ruined his campaign, but he's making up for it this season with 20 points through 26 games. He's added 77 shots, 29 blocks, and 23 hits with a plus-eight rating. Hamilton looks to continue the success in a very favorable matchup against a Detroit team that allows 3.39 goals per game and manages to kill of just 70.7 percent of penalties.
