Anthony Mantha To Undergo Season-Ending Knee Surgery

Calgary Flames right wing Anthony Mantha (knee) will miss the rest of the season. The team announced on Monday that Mantha is set to have an ACL surgery this week. Mantha joined the Flames as a free agent on a one-year deal in the summer and looked promising through his first outings with the team. In 13 appearances, Mantha amassed four goals and three assists with 16 hits and a plus-six rating. He was injured on Nov. 5 against Montreal. Kevin Rooney has replaced Mantha in the lineup. He scored his first goal of the campaign in Monday's 3-1 win over Los Angeles, but Rooney has a limited role on the team and doesn't provide value for fantasy managers.

Anthony Mantha Headed To Injured Reserve

Calgary Flames winger Anthony Mantha (lower body) was placed on IR on Thursday after suffering a lower-body injury in the first period of Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens. Mantha will be out for at least the next three games while on IR. It is unfortunate timing for the 30-year-old, who seemed to be finding his footing in Calgary with three points in three games before Tuesday's affair. If the injury isn't significant, the winger should be able to come close or beat the 44 points he put up last year with Vegas and Washington.

Anthony Mantha Suffers A Lower-Body Injury

Calgary Flames right wing Anthony Mantha had his night cut short by a lower-body injury on Tuesday versus Montreal. Mantha was limited to 5:06 of ice time. The 30-year-old entered Tuesday's game with a three-game point streak. He has tallied four goals and seven points in 13 appearances while registering a team-high plus-six rating. Mantha has been an effective player for the Flames and will definitely be missed if he has to sit out additional time. Matt Coronato, who scored twice in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win, could land in a top-six role if Mantha is unavailable on Thursday versus Boston. Kevin Rooney would likely fill the gap in the lineup.

Flames Want Anthony Mantha To Shoot More This Season

Calgary Flames right wing Anthony Mantha will be expected to fire off a lot more shots in 2024-25. "He's got a rocket of a shot," Flames head coach Ryan Huska said. "I asked him to shoot more if he's gonna play with Huby (Jonathan Huberdeau). Huby's a pass-first guy, as we know. So, I want him to be ready to shoot. We feel like if he has the mindset of, 'I've got to get up to 300 shots,' which is a lot of shots, then he's gonna score some goals because he's naturally talented that way." Mantha's single-season record for shots on goal stands at 198, and he has averaged around 2.3 shots per game for his career. The 30-year-old has struggled in recent campaigns but could have a career year in Calgary if things work out as Huska envisions.

Anthony Mantha Will Leave Vegas In Free Agency

Vegas Golden Knights right wing Anthony Mantha will need to find himself a new home this offseason. The 29-year-old has told Catherine Savoie of RDS that the Golden Knights won't bring him back. Mantha was a deadline-day acquisition for Vegas, and he will be an unrestricted free agent following the end of a four-year, $22.8 million contract. After starting out in Washington, Mantha finished the 2023-24 campaign with 23 goals and 44 points in 74 games. He's had a topsy-turvy career in the NHL but should get plenty of interest on the open market. In 494 career games, Mantha has posted 296 points (142 goals, 154 assists).

Anthony Mantha Headed To Vegas

The Washington Capitals have traded forward Anthony Mantha to the Vegas Golden Knights, according to Darren Dreger of TSN. Mantha is enjoying a nice bounce back season, with 34 points (20 goals, 14 assists) in 56 games. It is his first 20-goal season since 2018-19 when he was a member of the Detroit Red Wings. Vegas needed to add some scoring after injuries took their toll, and Mantha can provide that. He is also an underrated defender and could make up for some of the defense lost through Mark Stone's absence. His positioning in Vegas' lineup will be worth watching, as he could provide some fantasy value if given good deployment.

Anthony Mantha, Trevor van Riemsdyk To Return For Capitals Saturday

Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha (ear) and defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk (lower body) are both expected to return from injury for Saturday's contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Mantha has missed the last three games after suffering a ruptured left ear drum after being struck by a shot in a Nov. 8 overtime loss to the Florida Panthers, while van Riemsdyk has missed the last four contests with a lower-body injury sustained in a game against the Blue Jackets on Nov. 4. The 29-year-old Mantha has three goals and four points in 10 games but notched a pair of goals against the Panthers before being injured. For his part, the defense-first van Riemsdyk has recorded one assist in 10 games with 19 blocked shots as part of his 17:35 of average ice time per game.

Anthony Mantha Could Return Saturday

Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha could return to the lineup on Saturday after missing the last three games with a ruptured ear drum suffered in a Nov. 8 overtime loss versus the Florida Panthers. The veteran said he needed four-to-five stitches in his ear and further testing at the hospital ruled out any further damage. It's been an uneven season for the former first-round pick who has notched three goals and four points in 10 games while seeing his ice time dip to just 12:43 per game, far below his 16:33 career average. It's unclear where he will slot in upon his return but he remains on the outside of the fantasy picture looking in on a Capitals team that ranks 30th in overall offense.

Anthony Mantha Won't Travel With Capitals For Two-Game Trip

Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha will not travel with the club for their upcoming two-game road trip after being hit in the left ear with a shot in Wednesday's overtime loss to the Panthers. He is listed as day-to-day. It's been a disappointing start for both the Capitals and Mantha who has been a rumored trade candidate during his fourth full season with the Capitals. The 29-year-old has three goals and four points across 10 games while seeing his average ice time dip to just 12:43, his lowest total since posting an 11:42 mark in his 10-game NHL debut in the 2015-16 season. The club will likely call up a forward to replace Mantha for upcoming road contests against the Devils and Islanders.

Anthony Mantha Scores Twice Before Getting Hurt

Washington Capitals right wing Anthony Mantha had a night full of mixed emotions against Florida on Wednesday, scoring twice but also suffering an upper-body injury. Mantha's two strikes, which both came in even-strength situations, kept the Capitals in the game before the team eventually went 4-3 down in overtime. The action for Mantha ended in the third period when he was struck by a puck and left the ice bleeding. With Wednesday's effort, the 29-year-old upped his points tally for the season to four. Mantha has struggled to find his game in D.C., and the 2023-24 is off to a pretty ugly start as well for him.

Anthony Mantha Likely A Healthy Scratch Monday

Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha will be healthy scratched on Monday against the Calgary Flames. He will be replaced by Aliaksei Protas on the fourth line after having no shots on goal in 11:52 TOI in the Caps season-opener. This is a disappointing development for a guy who was once traded to the Caps for two draft picks (a first and a second) and Jakub Vrana. Unless things change dramatically, Mantha might be sent out of Washington for significantly less than what the Caps paid for him.

Anthony Mantha Aims To Produce A 60-Point Campaign

Washington Capitals right wing Anthony Mantha has set himself a lofty goal for the upcoming NHL season, aiming to produce a 60-point campaign. "My personal goal is 60 points this year and then to sign a long-term contract somewhere," Mantha recently told RDS, according to a translation. Mantha's current career-high in scoring stands at 48 points, and the 28-year-old settled for just 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) in 67 games last season. He's looking to return to action 10 pounds lighter and is fired up ahead of his contract year. "I need to have a big season," Mantha added. "Let's face it, this is the last year of my contract, and I'd like to bounce back. It's practically a second chance after last season. I've had other less successful seasons in the NHL or AHL, so I know how to come back strong."

Anthony Mantha Placed On Injured Reserve

Washinton Capitals winger Anthony Mantha (upper body) has been placed on Injured Reserve and won't play Thursday against Anaheim. He was injured last time out against Detroit and will now be unavailable for a bit. Mantha has gone eight straight games without a point, and it hasn't been easy for him throughout the campaign, as the 28-year-old has tallied only nine goals and 15 assists in 54 games with a minus-seven rating. Alex Ovechkin (personal) is ready to play again after a four-game absence and will replace Mantha in the lineup.

Anthony Mantha Suffers An Upper-Body Injury

Washington Capitals winger Anthony Mantha exited Tuesday's game against Detroit with an upper-body injury. He finished with only 8:18 of ice time and couldn't generate any offense for an eight consecutive game. Washington should give an update on his status prior to Thursday's meeting with Anaheim. Mantha's form has fallen off the cliff this season, as he's picked up only 24 points in 52 games. He hasn't been able to nail down a spot in the top six, and Mantha has even been a healthy scratch over the course of the season.

Anthony Mantha Returns To Washington Lineup

Washington Capitals winger Anthony Mantha will come out of the press box and rejoin the lineup for Saturday's battle against Philadelphia. He has been one of the odd men out after Nicklas Backstrom and Tom Wilson were able to make their season debuts. However, after missing two games, Mantha will now jump back into the lineup and it looks like Dylan Strome is getting scratched. Mantha has had some good spells, and 23 points in 42 games isn't a horrible return, but he is capable of doing much better and maybe the short stint on the sidelines will help him to return to form. He will skate with Nic Dowd and T.J. Oshie in even-strength situations and should also log time on the second power-play unit.

Anthony Mantha Will Be Scratched On Sunday

Washington Capitals winger Anthony Mantha will miss his first game of the season on Sunday against Columbus, with head coach Peter Laviolette deciding to make him a healthy scratch for the contest. He will be one of the players to make way for Tom Wilson (knee) and Nicklas Backstrom (hip), who are both gearing up for their season debuts. Mantha's ice time has dropped with each passing month this season and he couldn't even get to the 10-minute mark last time out against Nashville. It's not been a pleasant campaign for him, with only nine goals and 23 points registered in 42 outings. Mantha will have his first chance to return Tuesday versus Philadelphia.

Anthony Mantha Collects Two Points Friday

Washington Capitals winger Anthony Mantha was able to grab two points as the team took down Seattle 4-1 on Friday. He scored a game-tying goal early in the second period and recorded an assist when Lars Eller scored late in the game with the net empty. Mantha skated for only 11:06 but it was enough for him to fire off three shots and hand out one hit. The season has gone up and down for Mantha, and he will hope that he is on the up again after picking up points in back-to-back games. For the season overall, the 28-year-old has managed seven goals and eight assists in 29 outings.

Anthony Mantha Continues To Gather Momentum With Two Goals

Washington Capitals winger Anthony Mantha contributed two goals Thursday night against Columbus in a 7-2 win, scoring the first two goals of the game. He also led his team with five shots in 12:40 of ice time. Mantha got injured early in the season and made his way back into the lineup only at the start of this month. It's taken him some time to get into a rhythm, but the 27-year-old has impressed in recent outings. Mantha was scored in back-to-back games and is averaging a point per game across his last five appearances. The former Red Wing has managed six goals and 11 points for the whole campaign in 17 games.

Anthony Mantha Activated From Injured Reserve

Detroit Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha (shoulder) has been activated Thursday from the team's IR. Mantha suited up for the Capitals against the Hurricanes in his first day back. He has been skating on the team's second line Thursday, playing alongside T.J. Oshie and Niklas Backstrom. The 27-year-old has played in just ten games this season, producing two goals and four assists. At this time, Mantha isn't a factor in fantasy hockey, but that could change if he continues to skate on the Capitals second line.

Anthony Mantha Could Return On Thursday

Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha (shoulder) has not been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Hurricanes, according to head coach Peter Laviolette. Mantha underwent shoulder surgery at the start of November and was cleared for contact this week, suggesting that he is nearing a return to the lineup. With Carl Hagelin (eye) set to miss an extended period of time, Mantha's offensive production will be a positive addition for the Capitals and fantasy managers across all formats.
