Jack Hughes Posts Three Assists Versus Hurricanes

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes contributed three assists in Thursday's impressive 4-2 victory over Carolina. The Hurricanes were defeated for only the fifth time this season, with Hughes helping to set up two goals for Jesper Bratt and also assisting Stefan Noesen. Two of the assists came on the power play. Hughes has picked up his scoring pace lately, reaching 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) for the season with 22 games played. He's exploded for four three-point efforts in his past seven outings. The Devils star will look to do the business next against a Washington team that has kept Hughes off the score sheet twice already this season.

Jack Hughes Amasses Three Points In Thursday's Win

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes showed off some of his best form in Thursday's matchup against Montreal, scoring a goal and handing out two assists in a 5-3 win. His fifth marker of the year ended up as the game-winning goal. He's added 10 assists to his goals in 16 games. Hughes' productivity hasn't been the same as in previous years, but he has notched 10 points (four goals, six assists) across his past eight appearances, which is a significant improvement from the scoring rate he had at the start of the campaign. Hughes finishes this week with a juicy matchup against the leaky Sharks but also faces the Islanders over the weekend. He went scoreless in the first head-to-head clash with the Islanders this season, despite logging nearly 24 minutes of ice time in a 4-3 overtime loss.

Jack Hughes Grabs Two Assists In Saturday's Win

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes played his part in Saturday's 3-1 win over Buffalo with two assists. After going scoreless in the season opener on Friday in the same matchup, Hughes notched a pair of third-period assists. He helped Paul Cotter and Timo Meier on the score sheet. Hughes himself finished without a goal despite sending six efforts on the net. If he stays clear of injuries, we could see a 100-point campaign by Hughes this season. He was only one point short of it a couple of years back and averaged enough points to have been around the plateau again last term if he hadn't missed 20 games.

Jack Hughes To Undergo Season-Ending Shoulder Surgery

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday, the team has announced. The news came after Hughes dropped out of the lineup for Tuesday's matchup against Toronto. Hughes ends the 2023-24 campaign with 74 points (27 goals, 47 assists) in 62 appearances. Despite missing nearly 20 games this season, Hughes is still the team's top goal-scorer, and only Jesper Bratt (79) has more points than him. Shane Bowers landed in the top six with Hughes out on Tuesday.

Jack Hughes Won't Suit Up Tuesday

New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes (upper body) won't be in the lineup Tuesday when the team takes on the hosting Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. The young pivot is dealing with an upper-body injury, and it's unclear if he will miss additional time moving forward. "We'll see how long he's out," interim head coach Travis Green said. "I've already said what I'm going to say about Jack, he's not in tonight." It's been another big season for the American center, as he's tallied 27 goals and 74 points across an injury-shortened 62 games after recording 43 goals and 99 points in 78 games last season. The Devils' playoff hopes are hanging on by a string, as they sit five points back of the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with four teams to leapfrog and just four games remaining.

Jack Hughes To Play Tuesday

New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes will be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins. The 22-year-old did not take part in the morning skate on Tuesday but will indeed suit up, according to Devils interim head coach Travis Green. It's been a productive season for the former first-overall pick who has recorded 21 goals and 63 points across 52 games on the season, putting a hefty 233 shots on goal in that time. However, he is also minus-16 on a Devils team that has disappointed this season. New Jersey currently sits seventh in the Metropolitan Division with a 32-32-4 record on the season, seven points back of the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Jack Hughes To Return To The Lineup Thursday

New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes (upper body) will return to the lineup for Thursday's home game versus the Calgary Flames. The young pivot has missed the past 11 games after suffering an upper-body injury in a 5-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche on Jan. 5. He has been skating with the team in recent days but was not cleared for game action until Thursday. "Yeah, excited. Ready to get back out there," Hughes said following the Devils' morning skate on Thursday. The former No. 1 overall pick broke out with 43 goals and 99 points across 78 games last season and has 15 goals and 45 points across 32 games this time around. The Devils need wins, as they currently sit at 25-20-3 and five points back of the Red Wings for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Jack Hughes Could Return This Week

New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes (upper body) could return to the lineup at some point this week. The young pivot has been out since sustaining an upper-body injury against the Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 5, but he practiced in a non-contact jersey on Monday and skated briefly in a regular jersey in Tuesday's morning skate. Head coach Lindy Ruff said Hughes will be re-evaluated on Wednesday to see where he is at ahead of the club's game on Thursday versus the Calgary Flames. After breaking out with 43 goals and 99 points last season, the 22-year-old has tallied 15 goals and 45 points across 32 games this season. The Devils are currently sixth in the Metropolitan Division with a 24-20-3 record and are seven points back of the Detroit Red Wings for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, albeit with three games in hand.

Jack Hughes Shifts To Injured Reserve

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes (upper body) was placed on IR Thursday retroactive to January 5. Hughes has missed eight games with an upper-body ailment and isn't expected to return before the all-star break. How long he is out after is anyone's guess, but because he was retroactively placed on IR he is eligible to come off of it at any time. For the season, the 22-year-old has 45 points (15 goals, 30 assists) in 32 games. Hughes' return is vital for both the Devils and fantasy managers, as the team has gone 3-5 without him and fantasy managers have missed his production.

Jack Hughes Ruled Out Through The All-Star Break

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes (upper body) won't return to action until after the All-Star break. The Devils star has been out for seven games and will miss at least three more contests, starting with Monday's matchup against Vegas. New Jersey returns to action after the break on Feb. 6 against Colorado. Michael McLeod has settled into a top-six center role without Hughes, who's had another outstanding year in 2023-24 with 45 points (15 goals, 30 assists) in 32 games.

Jack Hughes Considered Week-To-Week

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes (upper body) is considered week-to-week and will not be out for months. Hughes was injured last week in a matchup against Chicago. He's already missed one game and the 22-year-old won't be making a quick return, but at least he's not expected to be out for months. Hughes has been crushing it for another season with 45 points (15 goals, 30 assists) posted across 32 appearances. Nathan Bastian joined the top six in Hughes' absence against the Canucks on Saturday, although he still played limited minutes and should be ignored by fantasy managers.

Jack Hughes Officially Out On Saturday

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes (upper body) remains under evaluation and won't play in Saturday's matchup against the Canucks. Hughes was injured in Friday's 4-2 win over Chicago when he fell on his left side just a few minutes from the end of regulation. Michael McLeod is a strong candidate to step into the top six on Saturday, although Devils head coach Lindy Ruff might have to get creative with his lines, with Timo Meier (abdomen) and Ondrej Palat (lower body) also still on the sidelines.

Jack Hughes Injured Versus Blackhawks Friday

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes had to leave Friday's game against Chicago early due to an undisclosed injury. The Devils star hurt himself on an awkward fall to his left side late in the game. Hughes had his first scoreless effort in six games on Friday. He's currently one of only eight players in the league with at least 15 goals and 30 assists for the season. The injury has a very unfortunate timing, as Hughes was set to face his brother Quinn and the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. At this time, it's unclear if he can play, but the chances don't appear high. The team didn't have any updates on Hughes following Friday's game.

Jack Hughes Scores Overtime Winner Against Bruins

New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes scored the game-winning goal in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime victory against the Bruins. Hughes received a pass from forward Jesper Bratt and found the back of the net at the 2:47 mark of overtime to give the Devils the victory on home ice. The 22-year-old forward brings his season totals to 11 goals and 34 points through 22 games to rank third in the NHL with 1.55 points-per-game.

Jack Hughes Continues Tear Versus Canucks

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes had his third three-point outing in four games in Tuesday's meeting with his brother Quinn and the Vancouver Canucks. With Luke Hughes also posting a goal, the Devils were able to win a high-scoring affair 6-5. Jack had the most points in the family by logging a goal and two assists. He scored in a fourth consecutive outing and has now totaled 11 points during an active five-game point streak. Hughes ran into some health issues earlier in the campaign, but he's been back to his best lately and will enter the next matchup with a very impressive 33 points (10 goals, 23 assists) to his name through 18 appearances.

Jack Hughes Adds Three More Points To His Tally

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes enjoyed a second consecutive three-point outing on Thursday versus Philadelphia, notching a goal and two assists in a 4-3 overtime victory. He grabbed his eighth goal of the season in the first period, helped Nico Hischier get a power-play goal in the third, and teamed up with Hischier to set up his brother Luke for the game-winner 28 seconds into the extra frame. Hughes became the first Devils player ever to reach 20 assists for a season with 16 or fewer games. Following a recent quiet stretch, he has picked up speed again by bagging seven of his 29 points in the last three games.

Jack Hughes Contributes With Three Points In Victory

New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes scored a goal and added two assists in Tuesday's 5-4 victory against the Islanders. The three-point performance is the fifth of the season for Hughes, while it was his first multi-point game since returning from injury on Nov. 18 against the Rangers. Hughes has totaled seven goals and a team-high of 26 points through 15 games, with his NHL-best mark of 1.73 points per game ranking ahead of Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov (1.68) who is currently in second place.

Jack Hughes A Game-Time Decision Saturday

New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes (upper body) is a game-time decision for Saturday's game versus the visiting New York Rangers. The young pivot has missed the last five games with an upper-body injury and was leading the NHL in scoring when his injury occurred 9:56 into a 4-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Nov. 3. After breaking out with a 43-goal, 99-point season in 78 games last year, Hughes registered five goals and 20 points across just 10 games while averaging 20:02 of ice time per game. The Devils have been operating without both Hughes and fellow center Nico Hischier for an extended stretch and have slipped to fourth in the Metropolitan division with an 8-6-1 record on the campaign.

Jack Hughes Listed As Week-To-Week

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes (upper body) is considered week-to-week. He was injured Friday in a contest against St. Louis and has left the team ahead of the final two stops of a four-game road trip. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Saturday that Hughes avoided a major injury, but he'll still be out for multiple games, which is terrible news for the Devils, who have already been without Nico Hischier (upper body). Dawson Mercer and Michael McLeod are expected to step into more prominent roles while the team's top two centers are on the mend.

Jack Hughes Exits With Upper-Body Injury

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes sustained an upper-body injury in Friday's 4-1 defeat against St. Louis. He exited the game after crashing awkwardly into the boards. Hughes, who is the early-season leader in the NHL in assists (15) and points (20), logged just 3:55 of ice time in the contest. It's been reported it might take a day or two to determine the severity of the issue, and Hughes should be regarded as highly questionable for Sunday's tilt against Chicago. The Devils have already been playing without Nico Hischier (upper body), so the team's center depth will get a major test if Hughes has to miss time.
