Sharks Plan To Keep Logan Couture

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture looks set to remain put this summer. The Sharks have entered a rebuilding phase, but there are no plans to part ways with the team captain. General manager Mike Grier said earlier in the week that rumors of the Sharks trying to trade Couture are "absolutely false." Couture, who celebrated his 35th birthday in March, has been a productive player throughout his career, but injuries limited him to only six appearances in 2023-24. Even if there is a change of plans in San Jose, and the Sharks try to move Couture, then it won't be easy, as he has three years left to go on a contract that has an $8 million cap hit.

Logan Couture Optimistic For Healthy Return

San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture said on Saturday that he is optimistic he can return to full health this fall and plans to begin skating again in July. Couture appeared in just six games in the 2023-24 season after suffering a groin injury while off-ice training prior to training camp. He didn't make his season debut until Jan. 20 against the Ducks, recording an assist, before going pointless across his next five games. He was shut down for the rest of the regular season after a Jan. 31 contest against the same Ducks team. The Sharks finished the regular season dead last in the NHL with 47 points and have the best chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NHL Draft.

Logan Couture Out For Rest Of Season

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture (lower body) won't return to the lineup in 2023-24. The Sharks captain has been out since Jan. 31, and Couture has now said he won't be returning this season. San Jose has basically been without Couture for the entire year already, as the 34-year-old has been limited to just six appearances. With Tomas Hertl shipped to Vegas, Mikael Granlund has taken over first-line center duties in San Jose, with plenty of youngsters poised to fill a big role in the top six for the rest of the season.

Logan Couture Does Not Want To Be Moved

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture has made it clear he does not want to be traded ahead of the March 8 NHL trade deadline despite speculation the Sharks captain could be dealt. Couture is currently dealing with a groin injury that has limited him to just six games while he has tallied just one assist and seven shots in goal in that time. "This organization means a lot to me, so I couldn't see myself playing for another team, but right now I'm just trying to get back to playing hockey again," the veteran said. Couture is in the fifth season of an eight-year deal that carries an $8 million cap hit, making a trade even more difficult. The Sharks are sure-fire deadline sellers as they are tied for last in the NHL alongside the Chicago Blackhawks with 35 points.

Logan Couture Not Close To Returning

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture (groin) spoke with reporters on Monday and said he has no plans to get back on the ice and is working out off of it. The club's captain has been dealing with a groin injury that worsened as he played and got even worse during the All-Star break. The 34-year-old has appeared in just one game this season, recording one assist and seven shots on goal in that time. He potted 27 goals and 67 points across 82 games last season, solid results considering the lack of offensive talent surrounding him. In addition to discussing his injury, Couture also said he does not want to be traded despite the speculation and wishes to remain a Shark for life.

Logan Couture Out Week-To-Week

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture (groin) has suffered an injury setback and is considered week-to-week. The team announced the news on Monday after Couture was forced to skip multiple practice sessions. The Sharks star continues to deal with osteitis pubis, which has limited him to only six appearances in 2023-24. Couture missed the team's first 45 games of the season before finally making his first appearance on Jan. 20. Mikael Granlund (upper body) is set to take over from Couture as the first-line center on Wednesday versus Winnipeg. He had his second straight full practice on Monday after missing six games.

Logan Couture Considered Day-To-Day

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture (groin) is considered day-to-day, and it's unclear if he can play on Wednesday versus Winnipeg. He's played in six consecutive games since making his season debut on Jan. 20, but there's a chance Couture has to come out of the lineup again. So far, he's picked up one assist with seven shots on goal. Tomas Hertl (lower body) is also day-to-day after missing two games, meaning San Jose could be without both of its top two centers on Wednesday.

Logan Couture Set For Season Debut On Saturday

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture (lower body) has been activated from Injured Reserve and is poised to make his season debut in Saturday's matchup against Anaheim. Based on Friday's practice, Couture is expected to grab a top-six role straight away and skate with Fabian Zetterlund and Alexander Barabanov. He should also see action on the first power-play unit. Couture has been one of San Jose's most consistent scorers throughout his 14-year career, and he returns to action in a favorable matchup against a team that allows the sixth-most goals in the league (3.41). Third-line center Nico Sturm (wrist) will also return against the Ducks.

Logan Couture Could Play Saturday

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture (lower body) is hopeful to play in Saturday's contest against the Anaheim Ducks. Couture has been working his way back from a lower-body injury he suffered before the season. A return to the lineup would be a major offensive boost for the lowly Sharks, and Couture should see immediate top-six minutes along with a prominent powerplay role. Last year, the veteran posted 67 points (27 goals, 40 assists) in 82 games, and he should be able to finish the season out at a pace close to those numbers. He is a good add if he is still available on the waiver wire.

Logan Couture Expected To Return Next Week

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture (lower body) is likely to make his return on the Sharks upcoming road trip, which starts Tuesday in Toronto. Couture has been on the mend from a lower-body injury for the entire season, but he has made progress in the last few weeks and is almost ready to return. The 34-year-old veteran will be a big help to a struggling Sharks team that has lost 10 games in a row, and he should return to a big role that includes first line minutes and top powerplay duties. It is a good time to pick him up and stash him in fantasy formats as he will be a solid producer when healthy.

Logan Couture Suffers Setback In Recovery

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture (lower body) has suffered a minor setback in his recovery from injury. He has yet to feature this season, and it's unclear when Couture will be able to play. The Sharks have struggled badly without their captain and are still looking for their first win of the campaign nine games into the season. The team has also scored just nine goals, with a lot of unproven talent getting top-six minutes.

Logan Couture Status Questionable For Sharks First Contest

San Sharks forward Logan Couture (lower body) sustained an injury during offseason training and was initially labeled as week-to-week. However, per head coach David Quinn, Couture is making strides in his recovery, but his availability for the beginning of the regular season appears to be in serious doubt. Last year, the 34-year-old played in all 82 regular season contests, scoring 27 goals while dishing out 40 assists. He was a minus-30 while logging 19:08 of total ice time per game.

Logan Couture Unlikely To Play Opening Night

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture remains week-to-week with a lower-body injury suffered while training and appears likely to miss the club's season opener on Oct. 12 versus the defending champion Vegas Golden Knights. Sharks head coach David Quinn said there's still no clear sign as to when Couture will skate again and the club would rather have their captain return a week late than a week too early, signaling a cautious approach. The 34-year-old registered 27 goals and 67 points while skating in all 82 regular-season contests last season but has a weakened fantasy outlook given his early-season ailment and a general lack of talent surrounding him in the Sharks' top-six forward group.

Logan Couture Week-To-Week With Lower-Body Injury

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture is week-to-week after sustaining a lower-body injury. The veteran pivot will obviously not be participating in training camp for some time while his status for opening night on Oct. 12 is up in the air. The Sharks' captain is coming off a season that saw him tally 27 goals and 67 points while skating in all 82 regular-season games. However, much of that production came alongside 40-goal scorer Timo Meier who was dealt to the New Jersey Devils prior to the trade deadline last spring. Given his early-season injury and the utter lack of offensive talent surrounding him in San Jose, expect Couture's production to slip while he should be left alone until the later rounds of fantasy drafts.

Logan Couture Has Two Points As Sharks Shock Winnipeg

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture produced a goal and an assist Monday when the team pulled off a very late comeback against the Jets. Couture combined with Erik Karlsson to set up Tomas Hertl for a game-tying goal with just 11 seconds left in regulation, and he then scored a 3-2 game-winner himself 1:21 into the extra frame. The 33-year-old closed out January with a five-point game and has been hot ever since, finishing without a point just four times. Following a few disappointing campaigns, Couture has become a consistent scorer again in 2022-23, putting up 22 goals and 31 assists in 64 games.

Logan Couture Records Two Points In Monday's Victory

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture scored the game-winning goal and had an assist in a third consecutive outing in Monday's 4-0 triumph over Seattle. He potted his 20th goal of the season halfway through the game and combined with Erik Karlsson to help Michael Eyssimont on the scoreboard late in the game. This was a very impressive victory for the Sharks, who lost Timo Meier (upper body) and Tomas Hertl (personal) from the lineup Monday. Couture took over the top-line center position and did an admirable job. Couture tends to hurt managers in the plus/minus column and is currently minus-18 for the campaign, but he's enjoying one of the best offensive seasons of his career, having posted 48 points in 58 games.

Logan Couture Racks Up Career-High Five Points

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture had the game of his life Saturday against Pittsburgh, pushing his team to a 6-4 victory with a career-high five points. He scored the team's final two goals and collected three assists. It was a superb finish for an otherwise disappointing month, as Couture entered Saturday's action after having picked only seven points in 12 January appearances. His form has dropped off since December, but the two-time All-Star is having one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 0.82 points per game. He's gotten there with 19 goals and 23 assists in 51 games.

Logan Couture Stays Hot With An Assist

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture added an assist to his tally in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to Toronto, capping off November with 16 points in total. He played some great stuff throughout the month, registering nine goals and seven assists in 15 games. Couture will enter December having gone without a goal just twice in his past 12 appearances. The 33-year-old is one of the in-form players of the league, and Couture should be able to maintain his hot streak at the start of December, with San Jose facing some very leaky defenses in the next couple of weeks.

Logan Couture Expected Back Against Arizona

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture (lung) is set to return to the lineup on Wednesday against Arizona. He sat out one game with a bruised lung. Couture will be the second-line center between Noah Gregor and Rudolfs Balcers. He's taken a back seat to Timo Meier and Tomas Hertl this season, but Couture has still had a solid campaign with 47 points in 60 appearances. His recent run of form has been good as well, with Couture having gone pointless just once in eight outings before getting hurt in a 5-2 loss to Edmonton last Thursday.

Logan Couture Misses Saturday's Game

San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture will sit out Saturday's home game against Anaheim with an upper-body injury. He's considered day-to-day and should be available for the next game on Wednesday against Arizona. Couture, who's registered 47 points in 60 outings this season, got injured in Thursday's 5-2 loss to Edmonton when he was hit in the back by a puck. Nick Bonino will replace Couture as the second-line center on Saturday, and he'll be joined by Noah Gregor and Rudolfs Balcers on the line. This is a juicy matchup for the Sharks, as the Ducks have lost eight games on the bounce with 35 goals allowed.
