Vegas Golden Knights forward Nolan Patrick is set to miss the entire upcoming NHL season with a back injury, the team announced on Thursday. The second pick of the 2017 draft was already limited to 25 appearances during his first year in Vegas and these could easily end up being his only outings for the team as Patrick will be a restricted free agent next summer. The 24-year-old managed just seven points last season and he's totaled 77 points overall across 222 career outings. Patrick has unfortunately ended up as a big-time draft bust. He'll be one of three Vegas players missing the whole season, with Robin Lehner and Shea Weber also unavailable.
Nolan Patrick wound up with some power-play time on Friday night for the Vegas Golden Knights. Patrick played 63 seconds on the man advantage which is progress. More importantly, the center scored his first goal of the season. Also, the center had five shots on goal, generated three scoring chances, and delivered a couple of hits. Faceoffs were an area of weakness as he went 2-for-10. However, in his 12:56, Patrick along with Nicolas Roy were two bright spots on a bad fantasy hockey night for Vegas Golden Knights players.
Prior to the roster freeze on Saturday, the Vegas Golden Knights acquired center Nolan Patrick in a three-team deal involving the Nashville Predators and Philadelphia Flyers. In return, Vegas sent former first-round draft pick Cody Glass to the Predators. Patrick was the second overall selection in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft but his career has been derailed by concussion issues. After missing two full seasons, he returned last year but scored just four goals and recorded nine total points in 52 games. Glass was given multiple opportunities on both the second and third lines in 2020-21. He scored four goals and recorded 10 points in 27 games. Neither player currently possesses much fantasy value although Glass has untapped offensive upside and could thrive in Nashville.
Philadelphia Flyers forward Nolan Patrick will not dress as his team looks to close out a back-to-back set with two wins over the reeling Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night. The 22-year-old will watch the game with an aerial view as healthy scratch as he's managed to muster up just two goals over his past 27 contests. After missing all of last year due to post-concussion symptoms, Patrick tallied five points in his first seven games but has been ice cold ever since. The former first-overall draft pick has registered seven points (four goals, three assists), a minus-20 rating, 34 shots and 28 hits in 34 contests. He's a safe drop in all fantasy formats.
Philadelphia Flyers forward Nolan Patrick notched a power-play goal on Saturday, helping the team beat the Rangers 2-1. Samuel Morin delivered the game-winner with his first career goal. Patrick had a productive game with three shots and two hits. The second pick of the 2017 draft looked to have finally found his rhythm in the big league at the start of the campaign when he had five points in seven outings, but the 22-year-old has managed to add just two points to his tally since then, both of which are goals scored this month. Patrick is centering the third line and the second power-play unit. He could be a cheap DFS option to target early next week when the Flyers have a pair of games against the hopeless Sabres.
Philadelphia Flyers center Nolan Patrick (head) said he is ready to play in the team's season opener on Wednesday. The second overall pick from the 2017 NHL draft missed the entire 2019-20 season with a migraine disorder. Patrick has played on a line with James van Riemsdyk and Jakub Voracek during training camp, while also centering the second power-play unit. This deployment gives the 22-year-old sneaky upside in fantasy circles, making him a worthy target in the later rounds of drafts.
