Vegas Golden Knights forward Nolan Patrick is set to miss the entire upcoming NHL season with a back injury, the team announced on Thursday. The second pick of the 2017 draft was already limited to 25 appearances during his first year in Vegas and these could easily end up being his only outings for the team as Patrick will be a restricted free agent next summer. The 24-year-old managed just seven points last season and he's totaled 77 points overall across 222 career outings. Patrick has unfortunately ended up as a big-time draft bust. He'll be one of three Vegas players missing the whole season, with Robin Lehner and Shea Weber also unavailable.

After missing all of last year due to post-concussion symptoms, Patrick tallied five points in his first seven games but has been ice cold ever since. The former first-overall draft pick has registered seven points (four goals, three assists), a minus-20 rating, 34 shots and 28 hits in 34 contests. He's a safe drop in all fantasy formats.

The second pick of the 2017 draft looked to have finally found his rhythm in the big league at the start of the campaign when he had five points in seven outings, but the 22-year-old has managed to add just two points to his tally since then, both of which are goals scored this month. Patrick is centering the third line and the second power-play unit. He could be a cheap DFS option to target early next week when the Flyers have a pair of games against the hopeless Sabres.
