Robin Lehner Will Not Count Against Golden Knights' Salary Cap In 2024-25

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner (hip) will not count against the team's salary cap in 2024-25. He is in the final year of a $25 million contract, which has a $5 million cap hit. However, Lehner hasn't played in the NHL since 2022 due to health issues, and Vegas will be getting cap relief in 2024-25 in an "unprecedented and highly unique" case, as league sources have told ESPN's Emily Kaplan. The team will still pay out his $4.4 million salary for the season. Lehner, who won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 2019 for perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey, has compiled a 152-141-49 record in the NHL across stints with five teams.

Robin Lehner Misses Mandatory Medical Exam

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner (hip) may have his contract terminated by the team after he missed his mandatory medical exam ahead of training camp on Wednesday. A preseason medical exam was required to confirm Lehner's medical inability to play the 2024-25 campaign. He has already been unavailable for two seasons and likely has played his final NHL game after having hip surgery in August 2022. Lehner is set to enter the final season of a five-year, $25 million contract he signed with the Golden Knights in 2020. Vegas owes the Swedish netminder $4.5 million in salary for the final year, which Lehner would lose in case of a contract termination.

Robin Lehner To Remain On Long-Term Injured Reserve

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner is out indefinitely and will remain on long-term injured reserve, according to Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon. Lehner missed the entire 2022-23 season after undergoing hip surgery and it remains to be seen if he will be able to make it back at any point during the 2023-24 campaign. He last turned in a 2.83 goals-against average and .907 save percentage while going 23-17-2 across 44 starts for Vegas in the 2021-22 campaign, a down season by his standards considering his career 2.71 GAA and .917 Sv% in 364 regular-season games between the Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Golden Knights.

Robin Lehner Makes A Winning Return

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner enjoyed a victorious comeback on Sunday, logging his 22nd win of the season in a 3-2 overtime victory against Vancouver. This was his first appearance since Mar. 8. Lehner, who returned from a lower-body injury, was perfect all the way through to the third period before he was beaten a couple of times. The Swedish netminder finished with 26 saves and now has a 22-15-1 record for the season with a 2.75 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage and one shutout. Lehner will have a chance to post back-to-back wins for the first time since January in a rematch with the Canucks on Wednesday.

Robin Lehner Getting Close To Return

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner (lower body) remains out for Wednesday's clash with Seattle, but he's getting close to returning to action. Lehner appeared to have suffered a setback when he left Tuesday's practice early, but he was back on the ice at Wednesday's morning skate and continues to work towards his comeback. The Swedish netminder last played on Mar. 8. Vegas head coach Peter DeBoer has been quoted saying that Lehner is "a day away" from returning, so it's possible that he'll be ready for Friday's rematch with the Kraken. Logan Thompson has gotten most of the starts with Lehner unavailable, and he's set to go again Wednesday night. The 25-year-old rookie is 5-4-0 for the season and will try to grab a third consecutive victory.

Robin Lehner Being Evaluated For Lower-Body Injury

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner (lower body) will not play on Thursday against the host Buffalo Sabres. Head coach Peter DeBoer told the media the Swedish netminder returned to Vegas to have more tests done and that this injury is not related to the upper-body injury that recently sidelined Lehner for five games. Lehner is 21-15-1 on the season with a 2.77 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage through 38 games. Laurent Brossoit will get the start for Vegas in Lehner's place.

Robin Lehner Practices Wednesday

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner (upper body) practiced with the team on Wednesday, The Athletic's Jesse Granger reported. The 30-year-old Swede has not played since a loss on February 9 to the Calgary Flames because of an upper-body injury, but his attendance at Wednesday's practice is a good sign he's close to returning. Lehner is 19-13-1 on the season with a .907 save percentage and remains Vegas' de facto starter. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on whether Lehner will be healthy enough to be in net for the Golden Knights on Friday against the Coyotes in Arizona.

Robin Lehner Dealing With Upper-Body Injury

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner (upper body) will miss Wednesday's game against the Avalanche as he deals with an upper-body injury. Laurent Brossoit and Logan Thompson, who was recalled from Henderson of the American Hockey League, are the two available goaltenders who will take over in the crease until Lehner is ready to return. Brossoit and Thompson are not recommended options for Wednesday's matchup against a red-hot Avalanche team that sits atop the standings in the Western Conference.

Robin Lehner Considered Day-To-Day

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner (lower body) is considered day-to-day after he missed Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Tampa. The Swedish netminder appears to have been carrying a lower-body issue for a while, with head coach Pete DeBoer noting that Lehner tweaked his injury at the weekend against the Islanders. Lehner has put together a 14-9-0 record for the season with a 3.04 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage. With the league on a break, it looks like he'll have a good chance to play in the next game against Colorado on Dec. 27. However, if Lehner isn't able to go, then Laurent Brossoit will be looking at a third start in four games. He's been a very solid backup for Vegas, compiling a 6-3-0 record in 2021-22.

Robin Lehner Goes For His Fifth Consecutive Win

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner will be hunting for his fifth consecutive win on Sunday in a matchup against his former team, the Islanders. The Swedish netminder has been racking up the wins this month despite posting a .876 save percentage. Lehner's record for the season is sitting at 13-9-0, and he's posted a 3.05 goals-against average with a .905 save percentage. The Islanders have won just eight games all season, so it's a nice spot for Lehner to collect another victory.

Robin Lehner Holds Off Calgary For 10th Win Sunday

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner allowed two goals on 25 shots to notch his 10th win of the season on Sunday night. Lehner made several key saves early in the third period to help maintain the lead for the Golden Knights. It also was a solid performance given that Lehner had allowed eight goals in two previous games, both of which were losses. He was able to stop all four opportunities that came his way via Calgary's special teams. Yes, Lehner's goals-against average has stayed around three this season, but his ability to keep Vegas in games is a likely harbinger of many more wins to come.

Robin Lehner Projected Goaltender Saturday Night for Vegas

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner has had some crazy games in the early going. It does seem that the goaltender. He has four wins in his last five starts. Three of those games are quality starts. Also, three times saw Lehner face 38 or more shots in all. Lehner's goalie point share is up to 2.9 already. The netminder has faced a league-high 472 shot and has made 433 saves. At least, the Chicago Blackhawks may not fire quite that many shots.

Robin Lehner Loses Again At Home Sunday night

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner dropped another tough decision as the Golden Knights mustered zero offense on Sunday night. The New York Islanders held Vegas to no goals, and while Lehner stopped 24 of 26 shots, that just was not enough. Vegas has scored just six goals in this four-game losing streak. Overall, they have averaged just two goals per game the entire season. It is difficult to win when the offense in front of a goalie is almost non-existent. The last time Lehner started five straight games was the playoffs, and six appears likely.

Robin Lehner Looks To End A Losing Run

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner will guard the cage in Sunday's contest against the Islanders, looking to end a three-game losing streak. The Swedish netminder started the campaign with a 4-3 victory over Seattle, but injuries have hit the Vegas squad hard and Lehner hasn't had any joy in three consecutive starts. He carries a 3.59 goals-against average for the season with a .901 save percentage. The Islanders have started to roll, having put together a three-game point streak, so this is another tough matchup for Lehner, who will see a lot of familiar faces after spending 2018-19 in New York.

Robin Lehner Suffers Home Loss For Vegas On Friday Night

Robin Lehner only stopped 26 of 30 shots in a 5-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night. The Vegas Golden Knights' starting goaltender had good stretches. He made several key stops during a two-man disadvantage. Then, Lehner had a few bad moments. One included getting beat by Zach Kassian on a breakaway. The goaltender has had trouble with breakaways throughout training camp and the season as well. Injuries have not helped around Lehner but the goaltender must improve in crucial moments.

Robin Lehner Starts Against Seattle On Tuesday

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner will get the nod for Tuesday's clash with the new Seattle Kraken on Tuesday. The Swedish netminder logged only 19 games last season, with Marc-Andre Fleury showcasing top form, but the Flower is in Chicago now, and it gives Lehner a chance to make the crease his own. The 30-year-old posted a nice 13-4-2 record in 2020-21 with a 2.29 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage and one shutout. He starts the new campaign with a superb matchup as the visitors find themselves in COVID-19 trouble and won't be able to use their best lineup.

Robin Lehner Dealing With Minor Injury

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner sustained a minor undisclosed injury and was pulled in the second period of his team's 3-1 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night. The 30-year-old's departure has been described more as precautionary and he's not expected to miss much time. Lehner, who is expected be Vegas' undisputed No. 1 netminder this season, is currently the second-ranked goalie (20th overall) in Yahoo's preseason fantasy hockey rankings. The hulking goaltender posted a 13-4-2 record to go along with a 2.29 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage in 19 appearances in 2020-2021.

Robin Lehner Tries To Get Back To Winning Ways

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner will look to end a two-game losing streak in Friday's clash with the Blues. The Swedish netminder has been very strong throughout the campaign but now finds himself in a bit of a slump ahead of the final few games of the regular season. He has given up eight total goals in losses to Arizona and Minnesota. Lehner's record for the season has dropped to 12-3-2 as a result. He has produced a 2.27 goals-against average with a .915 save percentage and one shutout. Lehner is 2-0-1 against the Blues this season.

Robin Lehner Goes After Sixth Straight Victory

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner will start Saturday's clash with the Ducks, looking to post his sixth straight victory. The Swedish netminder has been on an immense run to take his record for the year to 11-1-2. Lehner boasts a 2.11 goals-against average with a .919 save percentage and one shutout. He has beaten the Ducks in both of his previous starts this season and it's very likely that he will do it again here with Anaheim sitting on a poor 14-26-7 record.

Robin Lehner Blanks Ducks on Friday Night

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner secured his first shutout of the season, turning aside 16 shots in a 4-0 win over the Ducks. Despite getting two chances on the power play, Anaheim only recorded a single shot on net, highlighting the stout defensive play on display in front of Lehner. It was the second time this season that Lehner faced fewer than 20 shots in a start, which should not come as much of a surprise, as Vegas has allowed the second-fewest shots against per game in the league (27.2 shots per game). Lehner will no doubt continue to split starts with Marc-Andre Fleury, but playing in that defensive environment will bring high-end fantasy value every time he is in the crease.
