Ryan McDonagh News
Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan McDonagh (upper body) will "hopefully" be in the lineup Wednesday night when the club takes on the Calgary Flames on home ice, per head coach Andrew Brunette. The veteran rearguard has been out of action since Nov. 2 due to an upper-body injury but took line rushes with Predators captain Roman Josi on Wednesday morning, indicating he is good to return in the evening. Traded from the Lightning to the Predators as a salary dump prior to last season, the 34-year-old has two assists and 25 blocked shots through 10 games this season after recording 22 points and a hefty 165 blocks last season. His defense-first style will be a welcome addition for a Preds team that is tied for 21st in overall defense and 30th on the penalty kill. Dante Fabbro is likely to come out of the lineup and serve as a healthy scratch on Wednesday.
Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan McDonagh (upper body) is set to miss a second consecutive game Thursday against Chicago. The veteran is troubled by an upper-body injury and Nashville continues to consider him day-to-day. McDonagh's offensive contributions have been limited to only 15 points this season, but he's among the team leaders with 126 blocks in 57 games and has also registered 53 hits. Kevin Gravel has taken over McDonagh's spot in the lineup.
Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan McDonagh put in a very impressive performance against Florida on Saturday, finishing a 7-3 victory with three assists and a plus-four rating. He also blocked two shots in 20:57 of action and handed out one hit. McDonagh ended a nine-game scoreless spell with the big effort. The veteran defenseman has tallied only 14 points across 46 outings, but he has come up big for the team on the defensive end with 96 blocks. McDonagh logs big minutes as Roman Josi's trusted partner, and the Predators captain had a three-point outing himself as well Saturday with a goal and two assists.
Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan McDonagh (upper body) will return to the lineup Wednesday against Chicago. He has missed seven games after taking a puck to the face in a game earlier in the month and McDonagh will return wearing a full cage for the first time in his pro career. The veteran is more useful in real life than in fantasy hockey these days. He hasn't yet scored a single goal in 2022-23 and boasts five points through 23 games with 20 shots, 19 hits and 48 blocks. McDonagh will be replacing Jordan Gross in the lineup, who was assigned to the AHL on Tuesday.
