Ilya Mikheyev News
Vancouver Canucks winger Ilya Mikheyev played his final game of the season Friday against Columbus, as he is set to have surgery on his left knee. Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin revealed on Friday that Mikheyev had incredibly been playing through an ACL tear in his left knee, which he suffered all the way back in September during the team's first preseason game. Despite the injury, Mikheyev was able to make 46 appearances for the Canucks and scored his 13th goal of the season in Friday's 5-2 win. He concludes his first season in Vancouver with 28 points, and Mikheyev is expected to be fully ready for training camp next fall.
Vancouver Canucks winger Ilya Mikheyev was in sensational form against San Jose on Tuesday, finishing a 6-2 victory with four points and a plus-five rating. He scored once with three shots on goal and had three assists in 15:31 of ice time. Bo Horvat put together his second consecutive four-point outing and Brock Boeser notched a goal and two assists, so Vancouver's top line had a field day in the matchup. Mikheyev's NHL career has started to pick up lately, with him going for three goals and six points across the last four games. He's on 12 goals and 22 points for the whole campaign with 31 games played. The 28-year-old should be set for a big second half of the season if he sticks with Horvat, who is one of the league's best goal-scorers and averages over a point per game.
Vancouver Canucks winger Ilya Mikheyev is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury after getting hurt in a preseason game against Calgary over the weekend. The 27-year-old Russian was hit awkwardly into the boards and left midway through the game. Mikheyev was skating in his first Canucks game after earning himself a nice four-year, $19 million deal in July. He appeared in 53 games for Toronto last season and had a solid campaign with 21 goals and 32 points. With Brock Boeser (hand) also on the shelf, Vasily Podkolzin could find himself in a very prominent role for Vancouver early in the season, and Conor Garland should benefit from the injuries as well.
Toronto Maple Leafs winger Ilya Mikheyev tallied two goals in Friday's 5-2 victory over Tampa Bay, sealing the deal with a pair of empty-netters. These are his first career playoff goals. The Russian winger had an action-packed night as he recorded six shots and five hits. It's possible Ilya Mikheyev felt like he had a point to prove after William Nylander replaced him on the second line. It's been a fine season all around for the 27-year-old, and he should have even more success in this high-scoring series.
