Yanni Gourde Agrees to Six-Year Extension with Lightning

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Yanni Gourde has signed a six-year, $13.98 million contract extension. The 33-year-old is set to spend the rest of his NHL career in Tampa after rejoining the Lightning in March. Gourde enjoyed a very successful first stint with the team, becoming a Stanley Cup champion in 2020 and 2021. Following the second triumph, Gourde joined the Seattle Kraken after he was selected in the 2021 expansion draft. Gourde's form dipped during his final two seasons in Seattle, but he found some offensive spark again with the Lightning in 2024-25, recording 14 points (one goal, 13 assists) in 21. He has always performed well with the team and will remain a core middle-six piece for the Lightning moving forward.

Yanni Gourde Returns To Tampa Bay

The Seattle Kraken have traded veteran forward Yanni Gourde to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning acquired him and fellow forward Oliver Bjorkstrand in exchange for two first-round draft picks (2026 and 2027), a 2025 second-round pick, and forward Michael Eyssimont. Additionally, Tampa Bay received a 2026 fifth-round pick. The trade also involved the Detroit Red Wings, who retain part of Gourde's salary. Gourde returns to Tampa after leaving town in 2021 as a two-time Stanley Cup champion. He has just recovered from sports hernia surgery, ending a two-month absence on Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild. The 33-year-old was very effective during his first stint with the Lightning, recording 80 goals and 187 points in 310 games. He has managed 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in 36 outings this term.

Yanni Gourde A Game-Time Call On Tuesday

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (abdomen) is viewed as a game-time decision for Tuesday's contest against the Minnesota Wild. The 33-year-old has been sidelined since January 2 after undergoing sports hernia surgery. Over his previous 10 contests before the injury, Gourde found the back of the net three times and added three helpers. During this stretch, he logged 20 hits and 10 blocked shots. Through 35 total contests, Gourde has scored six goals and added 10 assists. However, he has found value in leagues that reward hits as he tallied 58 with 26 blocked shots during this span. If the 33-year-old were to re-enter the starting lineup on Tuesday evening, he will likely replace Ben Meyers. Given the time he missed, he will be a high-risk play in DFS as the team may monitor his ice time as he returns to NHL action.

Yanni Gourde Undergoes Sports-Hernia Surgery

According to the team, Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (abdomen) underwent sports hernia surgery on Friday. The team noted that the 33-year-old is expected to be sidelined five-to-seven weeks. Gourde has been battling a lower-body injury throughout the season and will now face a longer recovery timetable. Across 35 games, Gourde scored six goals and added 10 helpers with a -5 rating. He logged 58 hits and 26 blocks. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Matty Beniers and Chandler Stephenson to continue to operate as the top centers in the lineup. When Gourde does return, he will likely return to the third line. Last season, Gourde made 80 starts with the Kraken and, found the back of the net 11 times, and added 22 helpers.

Yanni Gourde Returns To Kraken Lineup Thursday

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (lower body) is ready to return from a three-game absence on Thursday against Chicago. He's expected to grab a second-line role, working as the center between Jaden Schwartz and Brandon Tanev. Gourde's offensive output has been limited to five goals and nine assists in 29 games this season. However, his scoring rate has improved this month, as Gourde has averaged a point per game in four appearances. The Blackhawks share the league's worst record with Nashville and allow over three goals per game (3.16), so Gourde will be in a good position to continue his recent hot spell.

Yanni Gourde Absent Against Bruins

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (lower body) won't play against Boston on Thursday. He sustained a lower-body injury in Tuesday's matchup against Florida and will be out for a second time this season. The good news is that Gourde is considered day-to-day, so he shouldn't be out for long. His first chance to return comes on Saturday versus Tampa Bay. Gourde has been among the Kraken's hottest forwards lately, averaging a point per game across the last four contests. He's collected 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 29 games throughout the season. Ryan Winterton is projected to enter the lineup as Gourde's replacement, with Brandon Tanev getting a chance to skate in a first-line role.

Yanni Gourde Misses Wednesday's Practice

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (lower body) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice. He skipped the session after suffering a lower-body injury in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout loss to Florida. Gourde collected his 14th point of the campaign via an assist in the contest. 10 of his points have come in Gourde's last 12 outings. Brandon Tanev will be in line to get extra work if Gourde isn't ready to play on Thursday versus Boston. He's done well in a limited role lately, logging two goals and five points in his last eight appearances.

Yanni Gourde Returns From Suspension Friday

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde will re-enter the lineup on Friday versus St. Louis after serving a two-game suspension. Gourde will make his 46th appearance of the season. He's had a down year offensively, scoring only seven goals and notching 19 points overall. After opening 2024 with a three-game goal streak, Gourde has gone pointless in three of his last five outings. He'll jump on the third line Friday.

Yanni Gourde Suspended Two Games For Charging

Seattle Kraken forward Yanni Gourde has been hit with a two-game suspension for charging Edmonton Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm on Thursday night. Gourde was issued a five-minute major and a game misconduct for a hit in which he appeared to leave his feet in the final few minutes of Thursday's contest. The 32-year-old is an original member of the Kraken from their 2021-22 inaugural season. He has collected seven goals and 19 points on 97 shots on goal across 45 games this season and has recorded 42 goals and 115 points across 200 games with the franchise since being selected from the Tampa Bay Lightning in the expansion draft. Gourde scored a career-high 25 goals as a rookie with the Lightning in the 2017-18 season.

Yanni Gourde To Have Player-Safety Hearing

Seattle Kraken forward Yanni Gourde will have a hearing on Friday for charging Edmonton Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm during Thursday's loss in Edmonton. The veteran was assessed a five-minute major late in the third period as it appeared he left his feet and delivered a high hit on the Oilers blueliner. A two-way player, Gourde has tallied seven goals and 19 points across 45 games on the season to go along with 97 shots on goal. His goal-scoring should steer in the right direction across the season's second half as his current 7.2% shooting rate is far inferior to his 13.7% career mark. He scored a career-high 25 goals with the Lightning in 2017-18 and has three 20-goal campaigns under his belt.

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde continued his impressive work in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs with the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime triumph against Dallas. The Kraken coughed up a two-goal lead in the third period, but Gourde made sure that the team still got off to a winning start in the second-round series, hitting his second goal of the postseason 12:17 into overtime. Yanni Gourde Posts Two Assists In Game 7 Victory

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde picked up two assists in Sunday's 2-1 Game 7 win over the Avalanche. Gourde's linemate Oliver Bjorkstrand grabbed the headlines by scoring both goals, but Gourde also made a big impact in the game and had assists on the goals. The former Lightning man also led all forwards with five hits and had one shot and one block in 20:24 of ice time. Gourde centers the third line for Seattle, but he saw a lot of action in the series and ended up as the team leader in points, producing one goal and five assists.

Yanni Gourde Pots Game-Winner In Impressive Victory Over Colorado

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde registered the game-winning goal in Wednesday's impressive 3-2 road victory over Colorado, putting the defending champions on the brink of elimination. Gourde scored his first goal of the 2023 postseason 1:40 into the third period to make it 3-1. The Avalanche had plenty of time to battle back, but they were able to get only one more puck past Philipp Grubauer. Gourde is leading all forwards on his team in ice time and has been one of Seattle's most productive players in the playoffs, tallying four points in five games.

Yanni Gourde Collects Two Assists In Thursday's Loss

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde registered two assists in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Colorado. The Kraken were in dreamland when Gourde helped to set up a pair of first-period goals, including one short-handed tally, but the Avalanche showed great spirit and managed to turn things around. Seattle might be a new team in the playoffs, but Gourde is a true playoff veteran, having been part of the Lightning's back-to-back championships in 2020 and 2021, and he shouldn't be phased by any pressure situations the postseason might bring. The 31-year-old now boasts 31 points in 71 career playoff games.

Yanni Gourde Ends Slump With A Three-Point Outing

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde ended a scoring slump in style on Thursday, putting up two goals and an assist in a 6-2 win over Philadelphia. He had previously managed three points across 12 games. It's Gourde's first multi-goal game since March 2021. The 31-year-old has struggled to find the net all year and sits on just eight goals, but he has tallied 35 points with a plus-20 rating through 54 games, which are really solid numbers for a third-line center. If it hadn't been for a four-week offensive slump, we could be talking about Gourde having a career year.

Yanni Gourde Tallies Two Points

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde picked up two points as the team took down Florida 5-2 on Sunday. He logged an assist on Andre Burakovsky's 10th goal of the season and lit the lamp himself with the net empty in the final minutes of the game. It was his only shot in the game, while Gourde was able to add three hits to his line in 17:13 of ice time and recorded two penalty minutes. The versatile forward is now on 16 points for the season. Gourde's offensive numbers look pretty underwhelming, but 14 of his points have come in 17 outings since the start of November, so he was really slow out of the gate and has improved massively compared to the early weeks of the campaign.

Yanni Gourde Returns For Seattle Tuesday

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (personal) is set to return to the lineup on Tuesday against Buffalo. He sat out Saturday's 5-4 loss to Chicago with a personal issue. The hard-working centerman took line rushes on the third line at the morning skate. Gourde was the Kraken's second-leading scorer during the team's inaugural season, but he's yet to produce any offense in 2022-23. Fantasy managers will be disappointed with Gourde's production, but it's still early in the year and he has an opportunity to turn things around. The next couple of games against Buffalo and Vancouver are great spots to get going.

Yanni Gourde Has Four-Game Point Streak

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde is currently on a four-game point streak with two goals and two assists during the four-game span that dates back to the end of December. Gourde is currently tied for third on the Kraken with 20 points through 26 games, while his eight goals scored on the season are tied for fourth on the team. The 30-year-old is centering the second line with Calle Jarnkrok and Colin Blackwell on the wings. Gourde is a solid option across standard fantasy formats, as he is among the top scorers on the Kraken.

Yanni Gourde Returns With A Goal In Overtime Loss

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde returned after missing a total of three weeks with a goal against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. He tied the game at 1 on the power play with a little over seven minutes remaining in the opening stanza. Carson Soucy and Morgan Geekie set him up on the goal. Gourde, all season long, has shown a knack of being at the right place at the right time. Oddly enough, it was his first power-play goal of the season in his 23rd game. He is now up to 17 points and seven goals on the season. Gourde continues to be an underrated fantasy performer and Seattle's leading offensive threat.

Yanni Gourde Still In COVID Protocol On Wednesday

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde remains in COVID protocol on Wednesday and will miss his third consecutive game. The center needs two negative tests in a row so he can return back to the lineup. More than likely that will not come until next week at the earliest. Gourde has six goals and 16 points in 22 games while playing a career-high 18:52 a night. He truly is super versatile and used in all situation by Coach Dave Hakstol. He has just two power-play points on the season but overall Gourde is shooting 14% for Seattle this season. His Tampa Bay average was 15.3% so this production may just be sustainable. Seattle sorely misses his presence in their lineup.
