Jaden Schwartz to Miss Six Weeks

Seattle Kraken forward Jaden Schwartz (lower body) will be unavailable for six weeks. The veteran suffered a lower-body injury on Wednesday night against the Dallas Stars. Losing Schwartz is a big blow for the 11-6-6 Kraken, as he has been the team's leading scorer this season. In 23 appearances, Schwartz has recorded eight goals and 15 points. Jared McCann, who returned from a 17-game absence on Wednesday, is set to replace Schwartz in the top six. Meanwhile, Kaapo Kakko (lower body) is nearing his return and may be available as soon as Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers.

Jaden Schwartz Suffers Lower-Body Injury Wednesday

Seattle Kraken forward Jaden Schwartz (lower body) was injured late in the second period during Wednesday's matchup against the Dallas Stars. On Wednesday, the Kraken had Jared McCann back in the lineup, but the team lost another key forward in Schwartz. The 33-year-old veteran is Seattle's leading scorer, having amassed 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) in 23 games. Seattle is likely to bring Jani Nyman back into the lineup if Schwartz misses time due to his injury. McCann, who had one assist in Wednesday's 3-2 loss, could be Schwartz's replacement in the top six.

Jared McCann Expected to Rejoin Kraken Lineup Wednesday

Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann (lower body) was activated from Injured Reserve on Wednesday and is expected to play against the Dallas Stars. He has been out of action since Oct. 18. Before sustaining a long-term lower-body injury, McCann posted three goals and four points in five games at the start of the season. On Wednesday, McCann is projected to skate with Berkly Catton and Shane Wright on the third line. However, he could soon be part of the top-six group, as McCann has been the Kraken's leading scorer in each of the franchise's first four NHL seasons.

Joey Daccord Posts Shutout in Losing Effort

Seattle Kraken goaltender Joey Daccord posted a rare shutout on Sunday against the New York Islanders, keeping a clean sheet for the second time this season but suffering a 1-0 loss. With David Rittich working for the Islanders, the teams couldn't be separated in 65 minutes of action, and the Islanders recorded a 1-0 victory via a shootout. Daccord's record for the season dropped to 7-3-4. He has registered a 2.56 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. The numbers show that Daccord has been in fine form, but Seattle's lack of scoring is hurting his record. In only half of Daccord's 14 starts, the Kraken have managed more than two goals.

Matt Murray  • G  •  Kraken

Matt Murray to Miss Six Weeks With Lower-Body Injury

Seattle Kraken goaltender Matt Murray (lower body) has been ruled out for six weeks. He suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday's clash against the San Jose Sharks. Murray has recently filled in for Joey Daccord (upper body) in the Kraken crease, holding a 0-2-1 record for the season. While Murray has gone winless, he has played well, registering a 2.21 goals-against average with a .922 save percentage. Fortunately for Seattle, Daccord has recovered from his injury in time for Tuesday's matchup against the Detroit Red Wings and will be back between the sticks. Philipp Grubauer will dress as the backup.

Kaapo Kakko Out Week-to-Week

Seattle Kraken right wing Kaapo Kakko (lower body) won't play on Saturday against the San Jose Sharks and is considered week-to-week. After missing the start of the season because of a broken hand, Kakko now faces an extended spell on the sidelines due to a lower-body injury he sustained on Thursday night against the Winnipeg Jets. Health issues have limited Kakko to one goal in seven appearances this season. Jani Nyman, who has notched three goals in 12 games, will take Kakko's spot in the lineup, joining the second line. He is expected to skate on the second power-play unit as well. The Kraken's frontline will also include Frederick Gaudreau (upper body), who was activated from Injured Reserve on Saturday, although he won't have fantasy value as a fourth-liner.

Kaapo Kakko Sustains Lower-Body Injury Thursday

Seattle Kraken right wing Kaapo Kakko (lower body) missed most of Thursday's matchup against the Winnipeg Jets. The Finnish forward potted his first goal of the season late in the first period, but he sustained a lower-body injury during his next shift. This goal also marked Kakko's first point of the campaign after seven appearances. He sat out the first few weeks of action because of a broken hand he sustained during the preseason. Jani Nyman, who has managed three goals in 12 appearances, is set to replace Kakko in the lineup if he misses time.

Ryker Evans Comes Off Injured Reserve

Seattle Kraken defenseman Ryker Evans (upper body) has been activated from Injured Reserve, according to Sound of Hockey. In a corresponding move, the team placed Joey Daccord (upper body) on Injured Reserve. Evans has yet to play this season due to an upper-body injury. In 2024-25, Evans registered 25 points (five goals, 20 assists), 59 shots, 106 blocks, and 123 hits across 73 appearances. This season, Evans will find it tough to make an impact in fantasy hockey as long as Vince Dunn and Brandon Montour stay healthy. He will compete for a spot in the lineup with Josh Mahura, who has managed two points (one goal, one assist), 21 blocks, and 13 hits in 13 appearances.

Kraken Place Joey Daccord on Injured Reserve

Seattle Kraken goaltender Joey Daccord (upper body) did not travel with the team to St. Louis for Saturday's matchup against the Blues and has been placed on Injured Reserve. Daccord will have to sit out at least three games after sustaining an upper-body injury. Despite losing three of his last four starts, the Kraken netminder has had a solid season overall. After 11 appearances, Daccord boasts a 6-2-3 record and has collected one shutout with a 2.83 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage. Philipp Grubauer, who is 0-0-1 for the year, will face the Blues on Saturday night, while Matt Murray should also see playing time during Daccord's absence.

Joey Daccord Continues Home Success Monday

Seattle Kraken goaltender Joey Daccord stopped 29 of 30 shots in Monday's 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks, improving to 4-0-2 on home ice this season. His overall record isn't bad either at 6-1-3. The Philadelphia Flyers are the only team to beat Daccord in regulation this season. The 29-year-old has recorded a 2.53 goals-against average with a .910 save percentage and one shutout. On Monday, he was just nine and a half minutes away from becoming the first goaltender this season with multiple shutouts when former Kraken teammate Andre Burakovsky scored on him. Daccord's next challenge will be stopping the youthful Sharks, who are averaging 3.23 goals per game.

Kaapo Kakko  • RW  •  Kraken

Kaapo Kakko Could Be an Option Saturday

Seattle Kraken right wing Kaapo Kakko (hand) could be back in action on Saturday against the New York Rangers, Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic reports. The former Ranger has returned to full practice after breaking his hand in a preseason game. On Friday, Kakko skated on the third line and worked with the second power-play unit. If he's indeed ready to make his season debut on Saturday, Kakko will have a point to prove after being traded by the Rangers last December. He was fairly productive during his first 49 outings with the Kraken in 2024-25, posting 10 goals and 30 points.

Brandon Montour  • D  •  Kraken

Brandon Montour Ready to Face Oilers

Seattle Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour (personal) was activated from the non-roster list on Saturday and is set to return to the lineup against the Edmonton Oilers. After taking a leave of absence for personal reasons, Montour has sat out four games. He began the campaign in fine form, recording four assists, 11 shots, nine blocks, and eight hits in four appearances. Cale Fleury will be a healthy scratch on Saturday to accommodate Montour's return. Fleury did a decent job as Montour's replacement, recording one assist and six hits in four games.

Mason Marchment a Game-Time Decision Thursday

Seattle Kraken left wing Mason Marchment (lower body) is a game-time decision for Thursday's matchup against the Winnipeg Jets. Marchment could be available to return from a one-game absence. The 30-year-old power forward has been effective for Seattle this season, recording four points (one goal, three assists) and eight hits in six contests. Due to injuries to Jared McCann (lower body) and Kaapo Kakko (hand), Marchment could get a chance to skate in a top-six role, which would enhance his fantasy value. If he's cleared to play, Marchment is also expected to return to the second power-play unit.

Jared McCann Out on Tuesday

Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann (lower body) will miss a second consecutive game on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. He was listed as day-to-day at the start of the week, indicating that McCann should not be out for long. However, it's unclear when he will be ready to return. The 29-year-old has tallied four points (three goals, one assist) in five games this season. Berkly Catton had a solid debut on the top line in Monday's clash against the Philadelphia Flyers and figures to remain in a top-six role until McCann's return. Catton notched an assist in Monday's game, setting up linemate Jordan Eberle.

Jared McCann Out Against Flyers

Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann (lower body) will miss Monday's matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers and is considered day-to-day. His absence is a bad blow for the team, as McCann has been Seattle's biggest offensive threat for several years. This season, he has contributed three goals and one assist in five outings. Berkly Catton, the eighth pick of the 2024 draft, will make his NHL debut on Monday as McCann's replacement on the first line. While Catton is unproven on this level, he was a highly productive player in junior hockey. The 19-year-old could make an instant impact as a linemate of Matty Beniers and Jordan Eberle.

Frederick Gaudreau  • C  •  Kraken

Frederick Gaudreau to Be Sidelined for 4-6 Weeks

Seattle Kraken center Frederick Gaudreau (upper body) must sit out 4-6 weeks of action, the team announced Saturday. Gaudreau was injured on Thursday against the Ottawa Senators and will not return to action before mid-November. The team placed Gaudreau on Injured Reserve and recalled John Hayden from the minors in a corresponding move. Before getting sidelined by an upper-body injury, Gaudreau notched one assist in four games. Hayden joined Ty Kartye and Jany Nyman on the fourth line for Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs and is likely to see regular playing time in the coming weeks, but he should be left as a free agent in fantasy leagues.

Brandon Montour  • D  •  Kraken

Brandon Montour Takes Leave of Absence

Seattle Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour (personal) will take a temporary leave of absence to attend to a family matter, the team announced on Saturday. Montour exited the lineup for Saturday's contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs and could be absent for multiple games. The 31-year-old has had a fine start to the season, posting four points in four games with 11 shots, nine blocks, eight hits, and a plus-three rating. Cale Fleury took Montour's spot in the lineup against Toronto. With Ryker Evans (upper body) also out of action, the Kraken defense must lean heavily on the likes of Vince Dunn, Adam Larsson, and Ryan Lindgren.

Frederick Gaudreau  • C  •  Kraken

Frederick Gaudreau Sustains Undisclosed Injury Thursday

Seattle Kraken center Frederick Gaudreau (undisclosed) left Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators in the second period. He was unable to continue due to an undisclosed injury after absorbing a hit from Senators defenseman Tyler Kleven. Gaudreau has started the season as Seattle's fourth-line center, tallying one assist through four games. The Kraken return to action on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. If Gaudreau doesn't shake off his injury by then, it's likely Berkly Catton will make his NHL debut. He was the eighth pick in the 2024 draft and is coming off back-to-back 100-point campaigns in the WHL with the Spokane Chiefs.

Ryker Evans Out 6-8 Weeks With Upper-Body Injury

Seattle Kraken defenseman Ryker Evans (upper body) will miss the start of the season, the team announced Wednesday. He has been ruled out for 6-8 weeks with an upper-body injury. The Kraken are set to be without him until at least mid-November. Brandon Montour (ankle) and Vince Dunn (undisclosed) aren't fully healthy either, leaving Seattle's blue line in a bad spot ahead of next week's season opener. Luckily for the team, Montour is expected to be available against the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 9, and Dunn could also be good to go, as he's regarded as day-to-day. Evans' injury will likely give Josh Mahura or Ville Ottavainen a chance to impress early in the year.

Vince Dunn  • D  •  Kraken

Vince Dunn Labeled as Day-to-Day

Seattle Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn (undisclosed) missed practice on Tuesday and is considered day-to-day, Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network reports. Dunn sustained an undisclosed injury in Monday's preseason matchup against the Calgary Flames. It doesn't appear to be a serious issue, but the 28-year-old must still sit out some time. The Kraken probably won't use him in Wednesday's preseason finale against the Edmonton Oilers. Dunn has missed 43 of the 164 regular-season games over the past two seasons. The last time he was healthy for an entire year, he produced a 60-point campaign. Seeing him return to form would be a huge boost for the Kraken.
