Bobby McMann News
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann (lower body) is a possibility for Game 1 of the postseason on Saturday against the Boston Bruins despite not taking part in practice on Friday, according to head coach Sheldon Keefe. He suffered a lower-body injury in an awkward fall while clearing the puck short-handed during a 5-4 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings on April 13 and did not return to the game. He sat out the team's final two regular-season contests. McMann broke out in the second half of the season, notching 13 goals across his final 33 games after registering just two goals in his first 23 games of the campaign.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann will not play in the club's final two regular-season games due to a lower-body injury suffered during Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings. McMann fell awkwardly while clearing the puck short-handed and was slow to get up and get to the bench. He then went to the dressing room and did not return. His status for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs is unclear. The 27-year-old has become a key piece for the team this season, notching 15 goals and 24 points across 56 games in 11:34 of average ice time per game. However, he also has 13 goals and 17 points across 33 games since the start of February and has recently been skating on the team's second line.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Bobby McMann to a two-year, $2.7 million contract extension. The late-blooming 27-year-old has been a valuable bottom-six winger for the team of late, netting 10 goals in 40 games on the season, including eight goals over his last 14 contests despite skating on the third line. McMann has recorded 18 points in his 40 games with the Maple Leafs this season and has averaged just 10:34 of ice time in that time, although he has been far exceeding that total of late. He led the AHL's Toronto Marlies with 21 goals in just 30 games last season and posted two goals and three points in the AHL this season.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann recorded his first career hat trick in Tuesday's 4-1 victory against the Blues. McMann stepped up for a career-night on the offensive end as a result of forwards Mitchell Marner (illness), John Tavares (illness), and defenseman Morgan Rielly (suspension) all being sidelined for the contest. McMann entered the game with two goals in 36 career games, while the 27-year-old brought his overall numbers to five goals and 10 points through 27 games throughout the 2023-24 NHL season.
