Adam Macko Allows One Hit on Thursday

Toronto Blue Jays left-handed pitching prospect Adam Macko tossed five shutout innings en route to picking up the victory over Triple-A Columbus on Thursday evening. In this outing, the left-hander allowed just one hit with two walks. He struck out five. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the southpaw as he entered this game holding a hefty 10.93 ERA with a 2.64 WHIP across his last 14 innings (four starts). Through 30 innings with Triple-A Buffalo this season, Mack has struggled to find consistency, sitting with a 6.90 ERA and a 1.83 WHIP across 30 innings. Earlier in the season, the Blue Jays noted that Macko could be in the mix for a promotion later in the season. For now, fantasy managers should leave him on the waiver wire. However, if he were to continue to turn the corner, he could be worth a look in deeper AL-only formats.

Adam Macko Could Debut in the Second Half

Toronto Blue Jays left-handed pitching prospect Adam Macko could be in the mix to make his MLB debut in the second half, according to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. Bannon noted that general manager Ross Atkins mentioned Macko as a potential "depth" option for the starting rotation later in the second half. The 24-year-old has spent the majority of the campaign with Triple-A Buffalo but has struggled to find his footing. Through 21 innings of work, the No. 14-ranked prospect in the system has posted a hefty 8.14 ERA with a 2.10 WHIP. During this stretch, the southpaw has struck out just 20 hitters and served up a high 15 walks. Given his struggles at the top level of the minor leagues, Macko is not worth stashing in any formats for the time being.

Adam Macko Optioned To Triple-A

Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Adam Macko (knee) was optioned to Triple-A on Monday. The 24-year-old underwent arthroscopic surgery in February to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee. As a result, the southpaw is unlikely to be cleared for action early in the season. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression, but he currently does not have a definite timetable. Last season, the 24-year-old spent most of the campaign with Double-A New Hampshire and held a 4.87 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP. Across 81 1/2 innings, he tallied 90 punchouts and served up 30 free passes. He received a brief look at Triple-A and logged only three innings of work. When the former seventh-round selection is cleared to return, he will likely open the season with Double-A.

Adam Macko Has Knee Surgery

Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Adam Macko (knee) had arthroscopic surgery on his knee on Thursday morning, according to manager John Schneider. "We'll kind of see the timeline when he gets back here and recovered a little bit," Schneider said. Macko torn the meniscus in his left knee early in training camp and now does not have a timetable for a return. The 24-year-old southpaw will certainly open the 2025 regular season on the injured list and could have to miss more than a month of action before he's likely assigned to Triple-A Buffalo. The former seventh-round pick by the Seattle Mariners in 2019 pitched at Single-A Dunedin, Double-A New Hampshire and Buffalo in 2024, going a combined 5-5 with a 4.63 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 105:35 K:BB in 93 1/3 frames over 20 starts. Fantasy managers can avoid Macko in 2025.

Adam Macko Suffers Meniscus Tear In Left Knee

Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Adam Macko (knee) suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee. Shi Davidi of SportsNet noted that the 24-year-old felt something during his weekend bullpen session. He is set to have a further evaluation on Wednesday but is looking at a "probable surgery." The 24-year-old spent most of the 2024 campaign at the Double-A level but was given a brief taste of Triple-A. Across 81 1/3 innings at Double-A New Hampshire, the southpaw held a 4.87 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. He tallied 90 punchouts and served up 30 walks. However, during his first three innings at the Triple-A level, Macko allowed three earned runs. When Macko does return to action, fantasy managers should expect him to get his first full look at Triple-A.

Adam Macko Out Of Action With Forearm Soreness

Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Adam Macko (forearm) felt some left forearm soreness after his last Double-A New Hampshire outing on July 2 and is currently rehabbing it. It's not clear at the moment how the Jays will handle his rehab, and how much game action Macko might miss with the issue. The 23-year-old Slovakian left-hander is Toronto's No. 9 prospect for 2024 and wasn't expected to make his major-league debut this season, but fantasy managers in dynasty leagues need to hope his trajectory toward moving up to Triple-A action won't be affected much by this setback. In 15 starts this year, Macko has a 4.42 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 86:28 K:BB through 77 1/3 innings in the minor leagues.

Adam Macko Dominant When Healthy

Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Adam Macko is an impressive starter who has used 2023 to show what he can do when healthy, given the fact that he made just 17 outings over the two seasons prior. Born in Slovakia, the southpaw went to high school in Alberta before the Mariners made him their seventh-round pick in 2019. He found his way to Toronto in last offseason's Teoscar Hernandez trade. The 22-year-old's fastball sits in the mid-90s, and FanGraphs grades his fastball, slider, curveball, and changeup all as plus offerings. This advanced repertoire makes him a candidate to excel in the rotation long-term. During his latest outing this past week, Macko delivered five hitless innings. He allowed zero runs and just two walks while amassing eight strikeouts, ultimately earning the win. Walks have definitely been an issue for him before, but the upside with his impressive repertoire and strikeout rate is too exciting to ignore.

Blue Jays Get Erik Swanson, Adam Macko From M's

The Toronto Blue Jays are acquiring reliever Erik Swanson and left-handed pitching prospect Adam Macko from the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday in exchange for outfielder Teoscar Hernandez. Swanson was a very reliable setup man for the Mariners last year, posting a 1.68 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, three saves, 14 holds, 70 walks and only 10 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings. The 29-year-old right-hander now moves to the tough American League East, where he'll be a setup man for closer Jordan Romano. Macko, 21, was ranked as Seattle's No. 8 prospect by MLB Pipeline before the trade. The young southpaw will be a long-term option for Toronto's rotation down the line. He made eight starts for High-A Everett in 2022, going 0-2 with a 3.99 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 60 strikeouts and 20 walks in 38 1/3 innings pitched.
