Justin Foscue Exits Grapefruit League Game With Hamstring Tightness

Texas Rangers infielder Justin Foscue (hamstring) was forced to make an early exit from Monday's Cactus League matchup versus the Los Angeles Angels. Foscue was removed from the contest due to right hamstring tightness. It sounds like he pushed to stay in the game, but the Rangers didn't want to risk him making it a more serious injury. He singled in his lone at-bat of the game and should be considered day-to-day for the moment. The former first-round pick has looked solid early in camp, so hopefully he can get back out there soon. There should be another update on his status in the coming days.

Justin Foscue to Work in the Outfield This Spring

Texas Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said that first baseman Justin Foscue will get some reps in the outfield this spring, according to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News. Foscue is trying to increase his versatility defensively to try to win a bench/utility role with the Rangers out of spring training. The 26-year-old former 14th overall pick out of Mississippi State University in 2020 made his major-league debut with the Rangers in 2024, but he only played in 15 games and went 2-for-42 (.048) with two walks and 18 strikeouts. Foscue appeared in just four games with the Rangers last year and had one hit in nine plate appearances. In his five minor-league seasons, he has slashed .272/.376/.491 with an .867 OPS, 79 home runs, 320 RBI, and 29 steals in 445 games. Foscue has been unable to make the transition to the majors, and his ceiling could be as a bench player in Texas.

Justin Foscue, Alejandro Osuna Optioned to Triple-A

Texas Rangers infielder Justin Foscue and outfielder Alejandro Osuna were optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. Neither player was getting starts on a regular basis, and neither was hitting well, with Foscue going 0-for-3 in just one game during his latest stint, while Osuna was slashing .164/.293/.224 in 82 plate appearances stretching back to late May. Both should have more opportunities back at Round Rock and could get another chance later this season if a regular gets injured or in September when rosters expand, however, neither would likely hold much fantasy value when they return.

Justin Foscue Recalled on Thursday

Texas Rangers infielder Justin Foscue was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. Foscue is back on the big league roster after being sent down on July 5 due to a lack of playing time. The assumption is that Foscue will be a platoon option at first base with Jake Burger (quad) still sidelined. Foscue is slashing .252/.344/.453 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI across 55 games in Triple-A this season. The former first-round pick hasn't been given much of a chance at the big league level. Hopefully, Foscue will get a chance to prove himself this time around.

Rangers Recall Justin Foscue

The Texas Rangers have recalled infielder Justin Foscue from Triple-A Round Rock, the team announced. Foscue will take the roster spot of infielder Jake Burger (oblique), who went on the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique. Foscue joined the Rangers as the 14th overall pick in the 2020 draft and debuted in the majors last year, when he collected a mere two hits in 42 at-bats. The 26-year-old has produced good numbers at the Triple-A level, however, with a .269/.392/.474 line across 1,011 plate appearances. He has batted .269/.360/.487 with 10 home runs, 37 RBI, and 32:27 K:BB in 229 plate appearances with Round Rock this year. Defensively, Foscue has divided his time this season between first and second base. Foscue will give the Rangers some depth in the infield during Burger's absence, but he's unlikely to make much of an impact from a fantasy standpoint.

Justin Foscue Showing Power At Triple-A

Texas Rangers first base prospect Justin Foscue went 2-for-4 with a home run during Tuesday's contest against Triple-A El Paso. This was Foscue's second long ball in his previous three contests. This was also his third-straight contest tallying at least one RBI. Through 30 games at Triple-A this season, Foscue has posted an impressive .307/.409/.500 slash line with seven doubles, five home runs, and a 25:20 K:BB. Last summer, Foscue made his MLB debut and tallied just two hits across his first 15 contests. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he should be in the mix to return to the major leagues later in the summer. If he continues to hit for power at Triple-A, the 26-year-old could eventually earn a permanent role on the MLB roster.

Rangers Reassign Emiliano Teodo, Justin Foscue To Minor-League Camp

The Texas Rangers reassigned pitcher Emiliano Teodo, infielder Justin Foscue and pitcher Luis Curvelo to minor-league camp on Wednesday, according to general manager Chris Young. Teodo is ranked as the team's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, while Foscue checks in at No. 15. The 24-year-od Teodo will continue his development as a starting pitcher in the minors in 2025 after impressing in spring training by throwing 4 1/3 shutout innings with six strikeouts and one walk. However, the hard-throwing right-hander arguably has a higher fantasy ceiling as a potential closer if he's eventually moved to a bullpen role. Teodo hits triple digits with his fastball and can also get swings and misses with his slider and changeup. Foscue, 26, continues to fall as a prospect after going 2-for-42 in the big leagues in 2024 and then posting a .631 OPS this spring.

Rangers Demote Justin Foscue

The Texas Rangers have demoted infield prospect Justin Foscue to Triple-A Round Rock. The club's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline was recalled last week and went 1-for-17 with limited playing time. Without much of an opening in the Rangers lineup, it made the most sense for Foscue to get everyday at-bats in Round Rock. The infielder dealt with an oblique injury that has sidelined him for most of the season, but he is a valuable utilityman when healthy. He can still get a chance with the Rangers later this summer, but managers shouldn't expect much out of him without a frequent role in the lineup.

Justin Foscue Sent Back To Minors

The Texas Rangers optioned infielders Justin Foscue and Jonathan Ornelas and catcher Andrew Knizner to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday among a flurry of roster moves. Foscue, the club's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has come up for a few cups of coffee at the big-league level this year but has only appeared in seven games and has gone 2-for-19 (.105) with a double, RBI and seven strikeouts. The 25-year-old wasn't playing against right-handers and didn't have a clear path to playing time with Josh Jung (wrist) returning from the injured list on Monday. The former first-rounder in 2020 out of Mississippi State will now return to Round Rock, where he's hit .241/.412/.405 with an .817 OPS, three homers and 15 RBI in 23 games this year. Foscue is only a stash candidate in dynasty/keeper leagues for his power -- he hit a career-high 18 homers at Round Rock in 2023.

Texas Rangers Recall Justin Foscue On Saturday

Prospect Justin Foscue has been recalled by the Texas Rangers ahead of their Saturday tilt with the Baltimore Orioles. Foscue was on the roster for two days in April, getting one hit and a RBI in two plate appearances, before being hampered by an oblique sprain. Foscue missed more than three months but is apparently ready now. Look for Foscue to accrue at-bats at both third base (as long as Josh Jung remains out) and designated hitter. In 87 plate appearances over the last month in Triple-A, Foscue hit .242 with three home runs, 13 RBI, one stolen base and 13 runs scored.
