Josh Jung is Worth an Add During Hot Streak

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung has been putting together a solid run at the plate lately. He recently saw his 13-game hitting streak come to an end on Wednesday. During that span, Jung slashed .400/.455/.620 with two home runs and 11 RBI. He has cooled off a bit since seeing his hitting streak end, but that shouldn't sway away fantasy managers. The 28-year-old has been impressive against right-handed pitching all season long. He has shown the upside to be a dominant right-handed power threat throughout his career. Fantasy managers in need of some offensive help right now should consider adding Jung while he's hot.

Josh Jung Hitting Second in Rangers Order Against Yankees

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung is hitting second in the batting order for Monday's series opener against the visiting New York Yankees and left-hander Max Fried, according to MLB.com. Jung has been healthy of late and is red-hot at the dish, going 21-for-56 (.375) with four home runs and 13 RBI in his last 15 games for the Rangers. Overall, the oft-injured 28-year-old is batting .308 (28-for-91) with four home runs, 14 RBI, 12 runs scored, and a stolen base in 25 games played. Jung hasn't been all that great against left-handed pitching so far in 2026, though, going 4-for-22 (.182) against them with one of his four home runs in 24 plate appearances. He'll be facing one of the toughest southpaws in the league on Monday night against Fried, too. Jung's move up in the batting order reflects how hot he's been recently, and fantasy managers in need of corner-infield help should consider adding him off the waiver wire. Jung is rostered in 41% of Yahoo leagues.

Josh Jung Red-Hot in April, Quickly Becoming a Must-Add Off Waiver Wire

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung has been red hot in April, slashing .379/.440/.652 for the month and raising his season OPS to .877. Now in his fifth MLB season, Jung appears to be taking another offensive step after previously showing flashes of impact upside. The 28-year-old has recorded four multi-hit games over his last eight contests while adding three home runs during that stretch. His strong contact quality and growing consistency have helped solidify his everyday role at third base for Texas. If this surge continues, Josh Jung should remain one of the top priority waiver wire additions as fantasy managers look for infield production entering May.

Josh Jung Hits Third Homer, Worth Picking Up Amid Hot Start?

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung's strong start to the 2026 campaign may be flying under the radar in fantasy baseball leagues. Jung went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the team's 8-4 loss to the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday to extend his RBI streak to six games. During that span, the oft-injured 28-year-old third baseman has gone 11-for-24 (.458) at the plate with eight RBI and eight extra-base hits. After his two-hit performance on Wednesday at Globe Life Field, Jung is hitting .303 (23-for-76) with three home runs, 11 RBI, and nine runs scored in his first 21 games across 84 plate appearances of the 2026 season. The former eighth overall pick out of Texas Tech in the 2019 MLB draft had 23 homers, 25 doubles, and 70 RBI in only 122 games played in his first full season in 2023 as a first-time All-Star, but he has struggled in two seasons since, mainly due to various injuries. Jung is healthy now, and he deserves a strong look off the waiver wire amid his hot start this year. He's only rostered in 23% of Yahoo leagues currently.

Josh Jung Remains Out on Wednesday

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung remains sidelined for Wednesday's contest against the division-rival Seattle Mariners, per MLB.com. Ezequiel Duran will start at third base and is batting ninth for the Rangers against Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo. It's the third time in the last four games that Jung will start on the bench, with manager Skip Schumaker saying on Tuesday that Jung is "a little banged up." The 28-year-old has been banged up for much of his young career in the big leagues, although he still offers plenty of power upside from the right side of the plate when he's on the diamond. The former eighth overall pick in 2019 out of Texas Tech has not looked great offensively to begin his fifth year in the majors, going 6-for-32 (.188) with no homers, an RBI, one walk, and nine strikeouts in nine contests. Jung is still Texas' primary option at third, but his slow start and more injury issues should have fantasy managers a little worried.

Josh Jung Returns to Cactus League Lineup on Monday

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (groin) returned to the team's Cactus League lineup on Monday against the Chicago White Sox, playing third base and batting sixth in the order. An adductor strain had kept Jung out for all of March until Monday. Barring a setback, the 28-year-old right-handed slugger should be ready to go for Opening Day later this month. There's no arguing that Jung has a high-upside power stroke, but he's risky in fantasy baseball drafts because he's had a lot of trouble staying healthy so far in his four years in the majors. The former eighth overall pick out of Texas Tech in 2019 played in a career-high 131 games in 2025 and hit .251/.294/.390 with a .684 OPS, 14 home runs, 61 RBI, 53 runs scored, and four stolen bases in 511 plate appearances. Jung has easy 20-homer power over a full season if he can stay off the injured list. His injuries last year led to a disturbing drop in his batted-ball metrics.

Josh Jung Expected to Play in a Minor-League Game This Weekend

MLB.com reports that Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung's recovery from a groin injury has "been a little slower than initially expected." However, Jung was able to take ground balls on Friday and is expected to play in a minor-league game this weekend. The 28-year-old oft-injured third baseman hasn't appeared in a Cactus League game since Feb. 24. The former eighth overall pick out of Texas Tech in 2019 still has around two weeks to get fully back up to speed before the start of the 2026 regular season. Jung was an All-Star in 2023 in his first full year in the majors, slashing .266/.315/.467 with a .781 OPS, 23 home runs, 70 RBI, and 75 runs scored in 515 plate appearances and 122 games. He has clear 30-homer upside in Texas, but he's also among the biggest injury risks at the third base position, which makes him only RotoBaller's No. 34 fantasy third baseman. Jung's 131 games played last year were a career high.

Josh Jung Diagnosed With Grade 1 Adductor Strain

Texas Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said on Saturday that third baseman Josh Jung (adductor) has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 adductor strain, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Jung will be down for about 10 days in camp. Originally, the belief was that Jung would be able to return to Cactus League action this weekend after being scratched from the spring training lineup the other day. After imaging, the Rangers have opted to take the more cautious route and shut the oft-injured Jung down for at least 10 days. The former eighth overall pick in 2019 out of Texas Tech University has intriguing power and was an All-Star in 2023 (the year the Rangers won the World Series), but he just hasn't been able to stay on the field enough to be considered a legitimate starting third baseman in fantasy. Jung's availability for Opening Day is now up in the air, making him more of a risk as a corner-infield depth in upcoming fantasy drafts.

Josh Jung Expected to Return on Sunday

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (hamstring) is expected to make his return to the lineup on Sunday or Monday, according to Shawn McFarland. Jung was pulled from Thursday's lineup as a precaution due to a hamstring issue. He was initially expected to return on Friday, but the team is giving him a few extra days to rest. It's early in camp, so teams are usually going to be extremely cautious with players, even with minor issues. When healthy, Jung has good upside, but keeping him on the field has been a struggle. Last season, Jung slashed .251/.294/390 with 14 home runs and 61 RBI in a career-high 131 games. The 28-year-old could be worth a look as a late-round option due to his power upside.

Josh Jung Pulled as a Precaution With Hamstring Injury

Texas Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said he pulled third baseman Josh Jung (hamstring) from the Cactus League lineup on Thursday against the Chicago White Sox as a precaution because he "felt something" in his hamstring, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Schumaker said that Jung "wasn't thrilled that I pulled him." Jung is likely to be back in the lineup on Friday, so it's obviously nothing serious. The 28-year-old should be fine, but it's worth noting for a player who has struggled to stay on the field early in his career due to injuries. Jung played a career-high 131 games in 2025 and slashed .251/.294/.390 with a .684 OPS, 14 home runs, 61 RBI, 53 runs scored, and four stolen bases in 511 plate appearances. Injuries in the last two seasons have caused his batted-ball metrics to dip and his draft stock to slide. Jung still has plenty of power from the right side, though, and isn't a bad depth option at the hot corner if you're looking for home runs.
