Justin Foscue News
The Texas Rangers have demoted infield prospect Justin Foscue to Triple-A Round Rock. The club's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline was recalled last week and went 1-for-17 with limited playing time. Without much of an opening in the Rangers lineup, it made the most sense for Foscue to get everyday at-bats in Round Rock. The infielder dealt with an oblique injury that has sidelined him for most of the season, but he is a valuable utilityman when healthy. He can still get a chance with the Rangers later this summer, but managers shouldn't expect much out of him without a frequent role in the lineup.

Justin Foscue Sent Back To Minors
The Texas Rangers optioned infielders Justin Foscue and Jonathan Ornelas and catcher Andrew Knizner to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday among a flurry of roster moves. Foscue, the club's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has come up for a few cups of coffee at the big-league level this year but has only appeared in seven games and has gone 2-for-19 (.105) with a double, RBI and seven strikeouts. The 25-year-old wasn't playing against right-handers and didn't have a clear path to playing time with Josh Jung (wrist) returning from the injured list on Monday. The former first-rounder in 2020 out of Mississippi State will now return to Round Rock, where he's hit .241/.412/.405 with an .817 OPS, three homers and 15 RBI in 23 games this year. Foscue is only a stash candidate in dynasty/keeper leagues for his power -- he hit a career-high 18 homers at Round Rock in 2023.

Texas Rangers Recall Justin Foscue On Saturday
Prospect Justin Foscue has been recalled by the Texas Rangers ahead of their Saturday tilt with the Baltimore Orioles. Foscue was on the roster for two days in April, getting one hit and a RBI in two plate appearances, before being hampered by an oblique sprain. Foscue missed more than three months but is apparently ready now. Look for Foscue to accrue at-bats at both third base (as long as Josh Jung remains out) and designated hitter. In 87 plate appearances over the last month in Triple-A, Foscue hit .242 with three home runs, 13 RBI, one stolen base and 13 runs scored.

Justin Foscue Heating Up In July
Texas Rangers infield prospect Justin Foscue went 2-for-5 with a solo home run for Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. This comes after Foscue picked up five hits on Tuesday. The infielder, who had previously dealt with an oblique injury has had a huge month of July thus far. In that span, he is hitting .407 with two homers, eight RBI and six runs. The club's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, Foscue had a cup of coffee with the Rangers earlier this season, prior to his injury, but only had two at-bats. He is swinging the bat well enough to receive a promotion, but without a real opening, everyday at-bats at Round Rock seem to be what is best for Foscue's development. Because of his lack of opportunity at the moment, his value remains strongest in dynasty leagues. If he were to get promoted to the big leagues later this summer, he would be an intriguing add.

Justin Foscue Has Rehab Assignment Moved To Triple-A Round Rock
Texas Rangers infield prospect Justin Foscue (oblique) went 1-for-2 with two walks for Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. The 25-year-old saw his rehab assignment moved to Triple-A as he continues to progress in his return from an oblique strain. Foscue had just gotten the call-up to the Rangers when he suffered his injury in early April. The No. 2 prospect for Texas is a pure hitter with good plate discipline. As he continues his rehab assignment it will be interesting to see if a spot opens for him at the major league level. First, he will have to show he is back to full health, but any potential return to the big leagues could be in a utility role.

Justin Foscue Lands On Injured List
Texas Rangers infield prospect Justin Foscue (oblique) is headed to the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. It is a shame as Foscue got his first big-league hit off Josh Hader on Sunday. Foscue was promoted last week when third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) landed on the 10-day injured list. Jung has now been transferred to the 60-day injured and infielder Davis Wendzel will take the roster spot of Foscue. With Foscue not getting much playing time, one stands to believe that Wendzel will be nothing more than a bench bat and can safely remain on the waiver wire.

Justin Foscue Remains On The Bench
Texas Rangers third baseman Justin Foscue remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Houston Astros. The team recalled Foscue after Josh Jung (wrist) landed on the injured list on Tuesday. Since then, Foscue has been on the bench for the first three games. It seems odd that the Rangers would call up the 25-year-old prospect and then not use him. Instead, Josh Smith will cover third base and bat eighth versus right-hander Hunter Brown. Foscue is an interesting talent, but isn't worth snagging in fantasy formats while sitting on the bench.

Rangers Calling Up Justin Foscue
The Texas Rangers are calling up top prospect Justin Foscue from the minors on Tuesday, according to sources. The 25-year-old was a first-round pick (14th overall) in 2020 out of Mississippi State and can play first, second and third base. He'll fill the roster spot of third baseman Josh Jung, who suffered a broken right wrist when he was hit by a pitch on Monday. With first baseman Nathaniel Lowe (oblique) also on the injured list, Foscue should see a good amount of playing time between the two corner-infield spots, making him an immediate waiver-wire pickup in at least AL-only fantasy leagues. He hit .266/.394/.468 with 18 homers and 14 steals in 122 games with Triple-A Round Rock in 2023 and is listed as Texas' No. 5 prospect, per MLB Pipeline.

Justin Foscue Having Nice Spring
Texas Rangers infield prospect Justin Foscue went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's Cactus League contest versus the Oakland Athletics. Foscue, 25, is now hitting .275 with one homer, four doubles and five RBI in 40 at-bats. Foscue was brought up as a second baseman, but has played both corner infield positions this spring and that can help increase his chances of breaking camp with the World Series champs. In Triple-A Round Rock this past season, Foscue hit .266 with 18 home runs, 31 doubles, four triples, 84 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 94 runs scored in 122 games. The former first-round pick does not possess much power which limits his game, but has a knack for making contact and getting on base. Without much power or opportunity at the moment, Foscue can remain on the waiver wire in all formats.

Justin Foscue Working Out At First Base In Camp
Texas Rangers infielder Justin Foscue is focusing on first base in spring training this year. Foscue is blocked at second base by Marcus Semien, so the 24-year-old is working at first base in spring training in order to give him more versatility and a better path to playing time in 2024. He'll be with the big-league club for the first time this year after hitting .266/.394/.468 with an .862 OPS, a career-high 18 home runs, 31 doubles, four triples, 84 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 94 runs scored in 122 games in 2023 for Triple-A Round Rock. Foscue has shown good contact skills and plate discipline in the minors, but he probably lacks enough power to be a legitimate fantasy option at a corner infield spot. His best path to playing time in 2024 might be at third base if Josh Jung (calf) cannot stay healthy.
