Corbin Carroll Homers for First Time Since Returning From Injury

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll hit his first home run of the spring in Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Chicago Cubs, a shot to left-center field off right-hander Edward Cabrera, reports Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. The homer had a 105.5 mph exit velocity. Carroll also hit a line drive to right field earlier in the game that came off his bat at 106.6 mph. The 25-year-old former National League Rookie of the Year has only been the designated hitter for Arizona since returning from surgery on a broken hamate bone in his right hand, but he's expected to be cleared to play the field soon, and he should be ready to go for Opening Day late next week. Fantasy managers should like what they saw from Carroll on Wednesday at the plate as far as his pop goes following hand surgery. With the ability to contribute across all fantasy categories in a hitter-friendly home ballpark, Carroll is a top-25 overall fantasy player in 2026.

Corbin Carroll to Resume Playing Defense This Week

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) "should start playing defense again on Wednesday or Thursday," according to Alex D'Agostino of Diamondbacks On SI. He'll likely play the outfield in a backfield game, rather than one of the Snakes' official Cactus League contests. It's another step in the right direction for the star outfielder, who has been recovering from a broken right hamate bone since February. While the Diamondbacks don't want to (and won't) rush him back, fans and fantasy managers would love some good news on the injury front as Opening Day approaches. Carroll is coming off another terrific MLB season in which he slashed .259/.343/.541 with a career-high 31 home runs and 139 wRC+, and he also continues to demonstrate advanced defensive skills in the outfield. He's a premium fantasy option, checking in as the #7 outfielder in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings for 2026.

Corbin Carroll Set to Play in Cactus League Game on Wednesday

The plan is for Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) to serve as the designated hitter in the team's Cactus League game on Wednesday against the Athletics, according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. The 25-year-old former National League Rookie of the Year has healed quickly from surgery to fix a fractured hamate bone in his right hand in early February. Barring a setback once Carroll returns to game action, he should be ready for Opening Day later this month. It's great news for the Diamondbacks and fantasy managers who took Carroll as a top-10 fantasy outfielder already in drafts. The former 16th overall pick in 2019 is a two-time All-Star and contributes across all categories in fantasy. Carroll has led the league in triples in each of the last three years and was a 30-30 man in 2025 for the first time in his career.

Corbin Carroll Could Make Spring Debut This Week

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) could debut in a Cactus League game at some point this week, manager Torey Lovullo told Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. Carroll had surgery to fix a broken hamate bone in his right hand last month, but the 25-year-old former National League Rookie of the Year is recovering very quickly. At this pace, Carroll should be ready for Opening Day in late March. Carroll has been an All-Star in two of his four MLB seasons, including last year, when he slashed .259/.343/.541 with a career-best .883 OPS, 31 home runs, 84 RBI, a league-leading 17 triples, 107 runs scored, and 32 stolen bases in 642 plate appearances and 143 games played. Despite Carroll's hand injury this spring, fantasy managers shouldn't hesitate to take him late in the first round of fantasy drafts as a five-category contributor in a hitter-friendly home ballpark.

Corbin Carroll Taking Live At-Bats in Camp

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) is already taking live batting practice in camp as he works his way back from hamate surgery on his right hand that he had on Feb. 12, according to Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. Nothing is set in stone, but the fact that the 25-year-old former National League Rookie of the Year is already facing live pitching means he should be ready to go for Opening Day at the end of the month. The two-time All-Star is an elite five-category contributor when he's fully healthy, and he's coming off a bounce-back season in which he slashed .259/.343/.541 with an .883 OPS, career-best 31 home runs, 84 RBI, 107 runs scored, a league-high 17 triples, and 32 stolen bases in 642 plate appearances over 143 games. With easy 20-20 potential in a hitter-friendly home park, Carroll is a lock as a top-10 fantasy outfielder going into his fifth MLB season.

Corbin Carroll Progressing to Batting Practice Swings

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) has progressed from swings off flips/tee toss to more typical batting practice swings, manager Torey Lovullo told Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. Carroll is recovering from surgery for a broken hamate bone in his right hand, but he appears to be getting close to facing live pitching in camp. If the 25-year-old continues to make good progress and avoids any setbacks, there's still a chance he could be ready to play on Opening Day on March 26 against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers. The two-time All-Star and former National League Rookie of the Year bounced back in 2025 after a down year in 2024, slashing .259/.343/.541 with an .883 OPS, career-high 31 home runs, a league-leading 17 triples, 107 runs scored, and 32 stolen bases in 143 games. Carroll's hand injury isn't ideal going into the regular season, and it could sap him of some power, but he's still considered a top-10 fantasy outfielder at RotoBaller.

Corbin Carroll Likely to be Ready for Opening Day

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (wrist) is likely going to be ready for Opening Day. On Saturday, D-Backs manager Torey Lovullo said he wouldn't be surprised if Carroll was back for the season opener. Carroll is currently recovering from a broken hamate bone in his wrist that he suffered earlier this month. It's hard to believe that Carroll would be ready by late March, but the organization has faith in a quick recovery. Carroll slashed .259/.343/.541 with 31 home runs, 84 RBI, and 32 steals in 143 games. Despite the injury, Carroll should still be viewed as a first-rounder in fantasy drafts.

Corbin Carroll Targeting Opening Day Return

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) said he is targeting an Opening Day return from his surgery to fix a broken hamate bone suffered in spring training. Carroll will get the stitches out early next week and should be able to resume hitting. The injury was to his non-throwing hand, but the primary concern with hamate bone injuries is the force from swinging the bat. It looks like Carroll still has a chance to miss no time at the start of the season, but even if he misses his target, he won't likely miss extended time, barring any complications. If he coes miss time, it looks like the Diamondbacks will try Jordan Lawlar in center and move Alek Thomas to right field. While his injury definitely raises his risk factor, Carroll's injury is actually creating some great potential value in drafting Carroll, since he should be a top contributor when he returns and is sliding a little bit in drafts. If you take a shot on him early, just be sure to build in reliable depth later in your draft.

Corbin Carroll has Surgery on his Hand

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) had surgery on Wednesday on his hand after breaking the hamate bone on his right (non-throwing) hand while taking a swing during live batting practice on Tuesday, according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. It's not clear how long Carroll will be out, but in a best-case scenario, he could return to action around Opening Day in late March. He will not be able to play for Team USA in next month's World Baseball Classic. The 25-year-old has been a key player for Arizona since making his MLB debut in August of 2022, winning National League Rookie of the Year honors in 2023 while helping the team get to the World Series. The two-time All-Star hit .259/.343/.541 with an OPS+ of 140 in 2025 while leading baseball with 17 triples. Carroll's fantasy stock takes a bit of a hit with this news, but he's still considered a top-25 overall player at RotoBaller since he might not miss much time at all to begin the season.

Corbin Carroll Suffers Broken Hamate Bone, in Danger of Missing Opening Day

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) suffered a broken hamate bone during live batting practice on Tuesday and is set to miss significant time this spring. Given this injury, Carroll's status for Opening Day is now in serious question. The star outfielder is a consensus first-round selection in all fantasy formats. Last summer, the former top prospect enjoyed a massive power surge, hitting a career-high 31 long balls with a .259/.343/.541 line. The 25-year-old also swiped 32 bags while generating an elite .372 xwOBA, .529 xSLG, and a 49.9% hard-hit rate, all of which are well above the average marks. Additionally, Carroll drew walks at a stong 10.4% rate, boosting his value in points leagues. With Carroll potentially at danger of missing Opening Day, Jordan Lawlar could carve out a prominent role early in the campaign in the outfield.
