Geraldo Perdomo Returns to Friday's Lineup

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (hand) is back at the 6 and is hitting second for Friday's series opener against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Michael McGreevy at Chase Field, per MLB.com. Perdomo has been dealing with a recurring left-hand issue recently and had a cortisone injection during the All-Star break, but he's feeling better now and will begin the second half of the season in Arizona's starting lineup. Fantasy managers have to wonder if the 26-year-old switch-hitting Dominican's hand issues have been the reason why he has struggled at the plate in 2026. In 323 at-bats in the first half of 2026, Perdomo had a disappointing .241/.354/.356 slash line with a .710 OPS, only six home runs, 34 RBI, 15 stolen bases, and 46 runs scored in 92 games after a career-high 20 homers, 100 RBI, and 27 steals in 161 contests in a breakout 2025. Fantasy managers are hopeful that Perdomo can pick things up in the second half, but his xBA of .251 and xwOBA of .326 don't point to a massive turnaround coming.

Geraldo Perdomo Receives Cortisone Shot, D-Backs Not Worried

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said that shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (hand) received a cortisone shot to address a nagging hand injury that arose during the team's series in San Diego against the division-rival Padres, but the skipper didn't sound worried, according to Alex D'Agostino of Sports Illustrated. "He battles hand issues throughout the course of the year, ever since we've had him," Lovullo said. "I was told it's not going to hinder him whatsoever." Perdomo posted an image of his left hand bandaged up, but it doesn't appear to be a situation that will land him on the injured list to start the second half of the season. Fantasy managers will want to make sure to check Arizona's lineup for Friday's series opener versus the St. Louis Cardinals. The 26-year-old Dominican shortstop has had a down year in 2026 after hitting .290 with a career-high 20 home runs, 100 RBI, and 27 steals in 161 games. Perdomo has a .241/.354/.356 slash line with a .710 OPS, only six homers, 34 RBI, 15 steals, and 46 runs in 92 games going into the second half of 2026.

Is Geraldo Perdomo a Second-Half Breakout Candidate?

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo was one of the breakout stars of the 2025 season, hitting .290 with 20 home runs and 27 stolen bases. The 26-year-old has been unable to repeat his success so far in 2026, hitting .241/.354/.356 with six home runs, 34 RBI, 46 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases across 391 plate appearances. Perdomo's elite plate approach remains his best feature as a hitter, as he's logged more walks (55) than strikeouts (47). However, Perdomo's barrel rate has dropped to 3.2%, and his hard-hit rate is down to 29.8%. Between his plus defense at shortstop and his ability to get on base, Perdomo remains an everyday staple at the top of the Diamondbacks lineup. As such, his reliable production floor is useful for fantasy managers. Still, managers expecting Perdomo to get back to his 2025 output in the second half of 2026 may be disappointed.

Can Geraldo Perdomo Rediscover His 2025 Breakout Success?

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo was one of the biggest breakout success stories of the 2025 season, as he hit 20 home runs and stole 27 bases while hitting .290 across 720 plate appearances. The 26-year-old has been considerably less productive so far in 2026, slashing .223/.336/.335 with two home runs, 20 RBI, 23 runs scored, and eight stolen bases across 220 trips to the plate. Perdomo posted a 6.2% barrel rate even in a breakout year in 2025, which always made him a likely regression candidate. Even still, there's reason to believe that Perdomo's production the rest of the way in 2026 will improve. With a 14.5% walk rate and a 13.2% strikeout rate, his plate skills remain elite. Perdomo has also hit just .248 on balls in play so far this season, significantly below his career mark of .287. Fantasy managers should not expect a full return to peak form, but Perdomo profiles as a steady compiler in every category other than home runs. At the right price, he could be a worthy buy-low candidate.

Geraldo Perdomo Returns to Arizona's Lineup Against Brewers

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (ankle) is back at the 6 and is batting leadoff for the Snakes in Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers and right-hander Brandon Sproat at American Family Field, according to MLB.com. Perdomo missed the team's last two games after suffering a left-ankle sprain in Saturday's contest in Mexico City against the San Diego Padres. The 26-year-old switch-hitting Dominican should be returned to fantasy lineups in traditional leagues against Sproat, who has struggled early on in his first year with the Brew Crew. Perdomo hasn't really stood out offensively yet in 2026, slashing .250/.350/.393 with a .743 OPS, one home run, three doubles, three triples, six RBI, six stolen bases, and 11 runs scored in 25 games across 102 plate appearances. He's been much better of late, though, going 13-for-30 (.433) with a double, three triples, two RBI, two steals, and four runs scored in his previous eight games, dating back to April 14.

Geraldo Perdomo Remains Sidelined with Ankle Issue

Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Geraldo Perdomo (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Perdomo will miss his second straight game after suffering a left ankle sprain during Saturday's loss to the San Diego Padres. For now, Perdomo is considered day-to-day, but he could land on the Injured List if the injury doesn't improve soon. Jose Fernandez will get another start at shortstop and bat sixth against right-hander Chad Patrick on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on Perdomo on Wednesday.

Geraldo Perdomo Out After Spraining his Ankle on Saturday

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (ankle) is not in the starting lineup in Mexico City on Sunday against the San Diego Padres, according to MLB.com. Perdomo is out of action for the two-game series finale in Mexico City after spraining his left ankle on Saturday. The D-backs aren't expecting Perdomo to land on the 10-day injured list, so he should have a very good chance of returning after an off day on Monday to face the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. Jose Fernandez is making the start at shortstop and will hit sixth on Sunday against Padres right-hander Michael King. When active, the 26-year-old Perdomo is a must-start in fantasy baseball lineups. He's off to a .250/.350/.393 start with a .743 OPS, a homer, six RBI, 11 runs scored, and six stolen bases in his first 84 at-bats in 2026. Fernandez has looked even better at the plate in his first 21 MLB games, going 23-for-72 (.319) with two long balls and 11 RBI in 74 plate appearances.

Geraldo Perdomo Day-to-Day With Left-Ankle Sprain

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (ankle) was removed from Saturday's game against the San Diego Padres with a left ankle sprain. He injured his ankle while fielding a ground ball during the seventh inning. The 26-year-old went 0-for-3 with a strikeout before exiting. He is considered day-to-day with his next chance to return being on Sunday in the series finale against the Padres in Mexico City. Perdomo is slashing .250/.350/.393 with a home run and six stolen bases over 84 at-bats this season. Ildemaro Vargas would see an uptick in at-bats and would handle shortstop for the Diamondbacks if Perdomo misses any time. Vargas is off to a hot start this season, hitting .351 (26-for-74) with five home runs and 16 RBI over 19 games.

Can Geraldo Perdomo Build on His Breakout Campaign?

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo took a huge leap in 2025, and his offense caught up with his excellent defense during his age-25 season. Perdomo posted an impressive .290/.389/.462 slash line with 20 home runs, 27 stolen bases, more walks than strikeouts, and a 370 wOBA. He played 161 of Arizona's 162 games and posted career highs in every major category. He had never hit more than six homers in a season, but hit 20 in 2025, and he had never had more than 16 stolen bases before swiping 27 bags last year. He took a huge step forward and became a key part of the D-backs' lineup. He's currently the No. 10 shortstop in RotoBaller's rankings and can be a strong mixed-league option if he continues last year's success. Most projections are calling for a little regression after his massive breakout, but he still is a solid starter to snag after the elite producers at the position are off the board.

Geraldo Perdomo Carries Plenty of Momentum Into 2026

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo had the best season of his young career in 2025, enjoying a .290/.389/.462 slash line with 20 home runs, 27 stolen bases, more walks than strikeouts, and a 138 wRC+. He ascended into an everyday role, playing 161 games while posting positive fWAR on both sides of the ball. Perdomo's 20 homers represent a solid power output for a 200-pound shortstop. Meanwhile, his 27 steals and 13.1% walk rate are very exciting for both the Diamondbacks and the 26-year-old's fantasy managers. However, the ZiPS and Steamer projections have Perdomo due for a little regression next season. Both projection systems expect him to record around a dozen homers and around 20 stolen bases in 2026. As it stands, he ranks as the #10 shortstop in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball draft rankings.
