Ryan Waldschmidt Carries High-End Stash Value in Week 3

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Ryan Waldschmidt remains an elite stash option in all standard leagues in Week 3 of the fantasy baseball season. The 23-year-old nearly broke camp with the MLB roster but was optioned to Triple-A Reno to begin the 2026 campaign. With Reno Waldschmidt, he has looked more than comfortable, which suggests he could be quickly approaching his MLB debut. Through his first 16 games at the top level of the Arizona system, Waldschmidt has held an elite .311/.415/.557 slash line with five doubles, two home runs, and a stolen base. Last summer, the former 31st overall selection made his High-A and Double-A debuts and carried an overall .289/.419/.473 line over 134 games split between the two levels. With Pavin Smith (elbow) and Jordan Lawlar (wrist) both on the 60-day IL, Waldschmidt could provide some much-needed depth to this outfield.

Ryan Waldschmidt Emerging as Top Stash Candidate Given Open Outfield Role

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Ryan Waldschmidt is continuing to see his value as a stash candidate increase in Week 2 of the fantasy baseball season. This week, the Diamondbacks shifted outfielder Jordan Lawlar (wrist) to the 60-day injured list. Lawlar now joins Pavin Smith (elbow) and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (elbow) of Arizona outfielders on the shelf. Waldschmidt, the 31st overall pick from the 2024 MLB Draft, was in serious contention to break camp with the MLB roster but fell just short in the competition. He was instead optioned to Triple-A Reno to begin the 2026 regular season. Through his first 10 games at the level, Waldschmidt has held a .237/.396/.395 line with four doubles, one triple, no home runs, and a solid 14:10 K:BB. If Arizona continues to find inconsistent production in their injured outfield, Waldschmidt will likely earn the call to the big leagues. Given that he hit 18 home runs and stole 29 bags over 134 MiLB games last season, he is a top stash option in deeper five-outfielder leagues.

Diamondbacks to Keep Ryan Waldschmidt at Triple-A Despite Open Starting Role

The Arizona Diamondbacks are not calling up outfield prospect Ryan Waldschmidt yet for a few reasons, explains Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. The first big reason is that the team expects outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (knee) back for the first time this year after recovering from a torn ACL late last season, so they would have to add Waldschmidt to an already crowded 40-man roster. Then, in another few weeks, Waldschmidt would be chewing up a roster spot in the minors without a path to regular at-bats at the major-league level. The bottom line is that Arizona just isn't ready to have Waldschmidt in the big leagues. Fantasy managers in dynasty/keeper leagues were hoping that Jordan Lawlar's fractured wrist would prompt the team to let the 23-year-old make his MLB debut. He hit .302 with a homer and six RBI in 14 Cactus League games in spring training and has gone 5-for-22 (.227) with seven RBI in his first six games at Triple-A Reno. Waldschmidt is one of the best prospect outfield stashes in deeper fantasy leagues early on in 2026.

Ryan Waldschmidt Nearing MLB Debut?

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Ryan Waldschmidt could be nearing his MLB debut as the 2026 campaign gets underway. The D-backs' top-ranked prospect excelled at High-A and Double-A last season, putting together a .289/.419/.473 slash line with 18 home runs and 29 steals in 134 games, and appeared to be on the verge of making the team's Opening Day roster before being sent to Triple-A to begin the year. The former first-rounder slashed .302/.348/.488 in 14 spring games, and although he is just 4-for-18 (.222) at Triple-A to begin the year, the right-handed slugger has also drawn six walks compared to seven strikeouts. If his bat gets hot and there is an opportunity on the big league roster, either due to injury or underperformance, the 23-year-old could be on his way to Arizona. With a solid combination of contact, power, and speed, Waldschmidt is a name to consider stashing away in deeper leagues ahead of his eventual call-up.

Ryan Waldschmidt to Begin Season at Triple-A Reno

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Ryan Waldschmidt will begin the 2026 campaign at Triple-A Reno, according to Sam Dykstra of MLB.com. The D-backs' top-ranked prospect was invited to big league camp this year and held his own, going 10-for-39 (.256) with a home run, a stolen base, and producing some eye-opening exit velocities on his batted balls. The former first-round draft pick impressed in 2025, playing half of the season at High-A and the other half at Double-A with strong results at both stops, culminating in a .289/.419/.473 slash line with 18 home runs and 29 steals in 134 games. The 23-year-old could make his major league debut early this season if he hits the ground running in Reno, and with an intriguing contact/power/speed skillset, the right-handed slugger could become one of the higher-priority stash candidates in deeper leagues early on.

Ryan Waldschmidt Reassigned to Minor-League Camp

The Arizona Diamondbacks reassigned outfield prospect Ryan Waldschmidt to minor-league camp on Sunday, according to Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. The D-backs were seriously considering having Waldschmidt make their Opening Day roster due to injuries to Corbin Carroll (hand) and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (knee) in their outfield. The 23-year-old former 31st overall pick in 2024 out of Kentucky will start at Triple-A Reno in 2026, but if he's playing well early on, an early-season promotion to the Show could be in order. In nine Cactus League games in spring training, Waldschmidt has gone 9-for-28 (.321) with a homer, five RBI, six runs scored, and a stolen base in 30 plate appearances. Waldschmidt hit .289/.419/.473 with an .892 OPS, 18 homers, 78 RBI, 114 runs, and 29 steals in 134 games with High-A Hillsboro and Double-A Amarillo last year. He could become Arizona's starting center fielder by season's end, and his power/speed combination makes him a must-stash in dynasty/keeper leagues.

Ryan Waldschmidt Making Strong Case for Starting Job

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Ryan Waldschmidt has made a strong case for a starting job early in spring training and is quickly approaching sleeper territory in drafts. Through his first six contests, Waldschmidt has posted a .316/.350/.632 slash line with three doubles, one home run, and one stolen base. Even though Waldschmidt has yet to step foot on a Triple-A diamond, the team's top prospect is in serious contention to crack the Opening Day roster. Last season, he spent time at High- and Double-A and posted a cumulative .289/.419/.473 line with a .892 OPS, 18 home runs, and 29 stolen bases. With Corbin Carroll (hand) in question for Opening Day and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (knee) set to miss the start of the season, Waldschmidt could hold high-end early-season value in all formats.

Ryan Waldschmidt Showcasing Power Upside in Spring Games

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Ryan Waldschmidt has already begun to showcase his power upside as he looks to claim a spot on the Opening Day roster. Through his first three games (10 at-bats), the team's top hitting prospect has hit a double and gone deep while posting an .873 OPS. The Kentucky product has also begun to see time in the center field in addition to his time in left field, further suggesting the Diamondbacks are attempting to find an early-season role for him. Currently, they are without two starting outfielders as Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (knee) will not be ready for the beginning of the season, and Corbin Carroll (hand) is targeting an Opening Day return, but any minor setback would push him past this target date. Last season, Waldschmidt spent his time at High-A and Double-A and posted an overall .289/.419/.473 line with 18 home runs and 29 stolen bases. Even though he has never played a game at Triple-A, he is in a prime position to break camp with the MLB roster, given their numerous injuries.

Ryan Waldschmidt Pushing Hard for MLB Debut

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told Arizona Sports on Thursday that top outfield prospect Ryan Waldschmidt is a "very talented player" and is going to determine his own timeline on when he'll help the big-league club. "He is coming. He's emerging ... he's got a lot going for him," Lovullo said. The 23-year-old, considered the No. 59 overall prospect in baseball, is in big-league camp and is competing for significant playing time in left field to begin the 2026 season with Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (knee) still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last September. Waldschmidt has experience at all three outfield positions .289/.419/.473 with an .892 OPS, 18 home runs, 78 RBI, 114 runs, and 29 stolen bases in 134 games at High-A Hillsboro and Double-A Amarillo last year. Even when Gurriel is ready to return, Waldschmidt could take over everyday duties in center field in Arizona in 2026. His elite bat speed, plus wheels, and advanced plate discipline make him a name to watch in redraft fantasy leagues.

Ryan Waldschmidt has Easier Path to Make Opening Day Roster?

Arizona Diamondbacks top outfield prospect Ryan Waldschmidt could have an easier path to crack the Opening Day roster following the injury to Corbin Carroll (hand). With the team's top outfielder on the shelf with a fractured hamate bone and in serious danger of missing the start of the season, Waldschmidt could emerge as a top replacement if he has a productive spring training. Entering camp, Waldschmidt was identified as a potential candidate to make the Opening Day roster, and now, with a starting outfielder injured, his path becomes much clearer. The Kentucky product joined the Diamondbacks in the 2024 MLB Draft and quickly progressed through the system last summer. Through 134 games (shared between High-A and Double-A), Waldschmidt held a .289/.419/.473 line with 18 home runs and 29 stolen bases. Even though he does not have experience at Triple-A, a strong showing in camp could be enough to earn a spot in the Opening Day lineup.
