The Texas Rangers have signed right-handed pitcher Nick Tropeano to a minor league deal, per a tweet from the team's executive vice president of public affairs, John Blake on Wednesday. Tropeano has logged 241 innings at the Major League level since the start of the 2014 season. A starter earlier in his career, the 31-year-old's last 12 Major League appearances have come out of the bullpen, including five during the 2021 season split between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets. In those five appearances, the right-hander allowed three walks, two earned runs, and a home run while striking out two. He'll provide the Rangers with some additional bullpen depth.
New York Mets pitcher Nick Tropeano was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse after serving as the 27th man for Monday's game against the Braves. He didn't appear in either contest of Monday's doubleheader and was sent back down to clear roster space. The 30-year-old owns a 2.25 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and two strikeouts over eight innings in 2021. Tropeano isn't used enough out of the Mets bullpen to warrant rostering in any league format.
New York Mets starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff has been recalled from Triple-A on Sunday. The Mets decided to go bullpen game on Sunday instead of starting Jacob deGrom before the All-Star break. Eickhoff tossed 2 2/3 innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs, and allowed two home runs. Possibly, this was a before the break type of move and Eickhoff goes right back down to the minors. He won't have much fantasy value, assuming he does stay up. Honestly. Tropeano was a better option with a 2.28 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over eight frames this season.
The New York Mets claimed right-handed reliever Nick Tropeano off of waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday. In 2020, Tropeano posted a 1.15 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and struck out 19 in 15 2/3 innings pitched for the Pirates. Despite the solid performance in 2020, albeit in a limited number of innings, Tropeano owns a 4.29 career ERA and a 1.37 career WHIP over the course of six seasons. While there is some upside with this move for the Mets, the 30-year old holds little fantasy value heading into 2021 for managers.
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Nick Tropeano will draw the start against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday. Right-hander Griffin Canning was scheduled to start, but he was needed in the 16 inning game on Thursday. Tropeano has been bad in the majors and minors this season. He can't be trust in fantasy leagues.
The Los Angeles Angels optioned starting pitcher Nick Tropeano to the minors on Wednesday and recalled reliever Jake Jewell in a corresponding move. Tropeano allowed five hits (two home runs) and three earned runs while walking two and striking out four in five innings against the A's in his first start of the season on Tuesday. In five starts for Triple-A Salt Lake before coming up he had an ugly 7.66 ERA, so the Angels want to see him get some more work on the farm before calling on him again. He'll be a shaky streamer in deeper leagues whenever he gets another shot in the big leagues.
Cam Bedrosian Opening Tuesday, Nick Tropeano To Follow
The Los Angeles Angels are starting Cam Bedrosian as the team's opener for Tuesday night's game versus the Athletics, and called up Nick Tropeano who will take over likely in the second inning. Entering in relief gives Tropeano a better shot at a victory as he won't have to throw five full innings to earn a win, but he should be avoided in DFS and as a streamer in season-long leagues. He has a 7.66 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in five starts at Triple-A and is nothing more than an innings eater for this game. Tropeano is also recovering from a shoulder injury, so don't expect him to make a significant impact tonight.
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Nick Tropeano will be called up from the minors in order to start on Tuesday against the A's. It will be his first outing in the majors this year after posting an ugly 7.66 ERA in 22 1/3 innings at Triple-A Salt Lake. Tropeano had a 4.74 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 64 strikeouts, 31 walks and 16 homers allowed in 76 innings over 14 starts for the Halos last season. It's unclear if he'll stick around in the rotation after this outing, but he'll be much too risky to rely on as a streaming option in most leagues on Tuesday.
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Nick Tropeano (shoulder) will start his rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. Injuries continue to hurt Tropeano, but he should join the rotation sometime next month when he's ready. The right-hander had a 4.74 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 in 76 innings for the Halos last year. Tropeano has never made more than 14 starts in a season, however, and will have to prove worthy to be picked up in deep mixed leagues.
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Nick Tropeano (shoulder) is being stretched out during simulated games at the team's spring training complex in Arizona. He started the regular season on the 10-day injured list due to a strained right shoulder. Tropeano worked four innings in a simulated game on Saturday. The club hasn't determine what role Tropeano will fill, but it's likely he is set to Triple-A Salt Lake when he is healthy to give the organization depth in the starting rotation. He is only worth stashing away in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues if you have the roster space.
