Atlanta Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said on 929 The Game on Tuesday that the team is picking up the $7 million club option on second baseman Ozzie Albies (hand), according to Mark Zinno. Albies will stick around in Atlanta for his 10th season in 2026 despite having his worst full-season offensive performances. The three-time All-Star hit just .240/.306/.365 with a career-low .671 OPS, 16 home runs, 74 RBI, 74 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases in 157 games played. In addition to disappointing with the bat for his standards, Albies fractured his left hand late in the season. The 28-year-old switch-hitting second baseman will look to bounce back offensively and stay healthy for the entire year in 2026 as Atlanta looks to bounce back from an injury-plagued 2025 campaign as well. Albies has two seasons with 30-plus homers and 100-plus RBI, so the ceiling remains high.

Ozzie Albies Suffers Season-Ending Left Hamate Fracture Monday

Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies (wrist) fractured his left hamate bone in Monday's 11-5 win over the Nationals, per MLB.com's Mark Bowman. He will miss the final five games of the season, and the hope is that he will be ready for the start of Spring Training. The 28-year-old fractured the same wrist in 2024, missing the final two months of that season. He will finish the season with a disappointing .240/.306/.365 slash line, 16 home runs, 74 RBI, and 14 stolen bases in 667 plate appearances. This injury will place question marks on Albies from a fantasy perspective for 2026, as he struggled in 2025 after a similar injury in 2024.

Ozzie Albies Exits With Apparent Wrist Injury

Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies (wrist) exited early against the Washington Nationals on Monday with an apparent injury to his left wrist, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. Albies appeared to suffer the injury while following through on a swing in the bottom of the third inning, leading the Braves to replace him with Nick Allen. Notably, Albies fractured his left wrist in July 2024 and missed around two months. The 28-year-old has stayed healthy this season, having played in all 157 of the Braves' games, but has hit a disappointing .240/.305/.364 with 16 homers, 74 RBI, 73 runs, and 14 steals in 665 plate appearances.

Ozzie Albies' Wrist May Be Back to Full Strength

Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies (wrist) struggled through the worst first half of his career this season. It may have stemmed from the fractured left wrist he suffered in July 2024, and it seems Albies has finally healed from that injury, David O'Brien of The Athletic writes. "I think something was happening (due to the wrist)," hitting coach Tim Hyers said in regards to Albies' dismal first half. The switch-hitting 28-year-old went into the mid-July All-Star break with an ugly .220/.290/.316 line in 95 games. Thanks to a resurgent couple of weeks, he's now batting an improved .232/.301/.348. Albies has swatted four of his 13 homers since Aug. 14, a 14-game span in which he has gone 18-for-59 (.305) with 16 RBI and 11 runs scored. The Braves will have to decide in the offseason whether to pick up Albies' $7 million option for 2026 or buy him out for $4 million. It should be an easy call if the three-time All-Star continues to produce over the final month of the season.

Braves Willing to Listen to Offers for Ozzie Albies

The Atlanta Braves are willing to listen to offers for second baseman Ozzie Albies, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. The Braves would be selling low on the three-time All-Star in what has been the worst season of his career. The switch-hitting Albies has batted a miserable .221/.296/.326 with nine homers, 40 RBI, 43 runs scored, and nine steals in 436 plate appearances. Albies has been especially poor versus lefties, who have held him to a toothless .218/.243/.264 line. Despite his unexpected woes this year, it seems likely Albies' employer (whether it's Atlanta or another team) will exercise his $7 million option for 2026 in the offseason. Otherwise, they'd have to pay the 28-year-old a $4 million buyout and would only save $3 million.

Ozzie Albies Mashes Homer No. 6

Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in his team's 9-3 win against the Philadelphia Phillies. He also walked and scored twice. The Phillies and Braves played a doubleheader on Thursday, and the teams split them, with Atlanta taking the second contest. Albies' lone hit in the outing left the yard and scored teammate Austin Riley in the top of the fourth inning. He'd also later knock in a run on a fielder's choice. The 28-year-old has been superb recently, notching at least one hit in 14 straight appearances with four multi-hit games in that span. Over the stretch, he's 18-for-52 (.346), and has been even better across the last eight games, notching all five of his extra-base hits in the hot streak.

Ozzie Albies' Bat Waking Up

Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies has had a mini-resurgence at the plate lately. He went 2-for-2 with two doubles and a walk in Sunday's loss to the San Diego Padres, his first game with multiple extra-base hits this year. In the process, Albies extended his hitting to 11 games, in which he's gone 13-for-37 (.351) with four doubles. The recent hot streak has raised his average from .207 to .239 and his OPS from .587 to .650, which started after he went 0-for-28. "Hopefully Oz is getting ready to get a little something going," manager Brian Snitker said. "Man, that'd be huge if we could get him going consistently like he has over the last few years." Fantasy managers are hoping for the same thing, and the next thing they'd like to see if Albies go deep, as he hasn't homered in a 20-game span. The return of outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. should only help Albies' cause.

Ozzie Albies Goes Deep, Swipes A Bag

Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies went 3-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base during their loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday evening. Albies would go deep in the fourth inning with a solo shot off Dodgers right-hander Roki Sasaki. Over his last seven games, Albies has been productive at the plate, posting a .300/.323/.400 slash line. During this stretch, he has hit just one extra-base hit (a home run) but has swiped three bags. Through 32 games, Albies has posted a modest .248/.302/.395 slash line with five home runs and five stolen bases. Under the hood, the switch-hitting second baseman has generated a modest .290 xwOBA with a 5.5 percent barrel rate, which are both well below the average marks. He will look to stay hot on Sunday night against right-handed pitcher Dustin May.

Ozzie Albies Homers Again On Saturday

Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies hadn't recorded a home run since Opening Day until he took Edwin Uceta deep on Friday. Albies continued his power surge during Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He was having a fairly quiet game until he blasted a solo home run off right-hander Hunter Bigge in the eighth inning. Albies would finish his day 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk, and a stolen base. Fantasy managers can be hopeful for more performances like this from Albies going forward.

Ozzie Albies Moving To Leadoff Spot On Wednesday

With the Atlanta Braves looking to shake things up on Wednesday against the hosting Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium after starting the year 0-6, second baseman Ozzie Albies will move up to the leadoff spot to face left-hander Blake Snell. It will be Albies' first time batting leadoff in the early going for the struggling Braves, but he could occupy the spot more often moving forward with outfielder Jurickson Profar suspended 80 games for PEDs. Like most of the rest of the Braves hitters so far in 2025, the switch-hitting Albies has been cold at the plate early on, as the three-time All-Star heads into Wednesday's contest with a .136 average (3-for-22) with a homer, three RBI, two walks and three strikeouts in 24 trips to the plate over six games. Albies has hit .143 in his career against Snell in a small sample size of seven at-bats.
