Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada (hamstring) will head to Triple-A Charlotte to begin a rehab assignment on Wednesday. Moncada has been sidelined since July 31 with a hamstring injury. Moncada has enjoyed a breakout campaign this season and owns a .301 batting average with 20 home runs, 59 RBI and seven stolen bases. If everything goes well for Moncada, he could join the team next Monday versus the Twins.
Chicago White Sox infielder Yoan Moncada went through a workout Saturday and he reported back positively stating he's feeling "better, way better but not 100%." The 24-year-old landed on the shelf on July 31 with a hamstring strain, but the team hasn't stated exactly when he'll return to action. It's certainly a step in the right direction, and a comeback doesn't seem that far off for Moncada who has finally lived up to expectations this year offensively. The Pale Hose host the Astros beginning Monday before traveling to Los Angeles to take on the Angels to start a seven-game road trip on Thursday. Moncada likely won't be rushed back, but it's possible he could join the team at some point during the road trip.
The Chicago White Sox placed third baseman Yoan Moncada (hamstring) on the injured list on Wednesday after an MRI exam showed a Grade 1 hamstring strain. It's a blow for fantasy owners and the White Sox, as Moncada is having a breakout season with a slash line of .301/.358/.535 with 20 home runs, 58 runs, 59 RBI and seven stolen bases in his 372 at-bats. Keep him stashed everywhere and hope that he can return in a few weeks. Ryan Goins should see most of the playing time in Moncada's absence and is a candidate to be added in AL-only leagues in the meantime.
