Cardinals Pitching Prospect Tekoah Roby Undergoes Tommy John Surgery

St. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect Tekoah Roby (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the entire 2026 season. The 23-year-old right-hander, acquired from Texas in the 2023 deadline deal for Jordan Montgomery, had made six starts at Triple-A Memphis after being promoted in June. Following a rough start, Roby had allowed just two earned runs over his last 21 innings before the injury. Durability remains a concern, as Roby also missed significant time in 2023. His fastball sits in the mid-90s, but his high-spin curveball is widely regarded as his most effective weapon. Continue to stash Roby in dynasty formats.

Tekoah Roby Goes on Seven-Day Injured List

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds placed St. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitching prospect Tekoah Roby (undisclosed) on the seven-day injured list on Monday. While Roby has dealt with shoulder injuries in the past, it's unclear if this is related. The team's No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has gone a combined 7-4 this year with a 3.10 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 87:19 K:BB in 78 1/3 innings over 16 starts with Double-A Springfield and Memphis. The 23-year-old had been peaking recently with Memphis, striking out 21 and walking only five while giving up two earned runs in his last four starts. Hopefully, the former third-rounder in 2020 will be able to return sooner than later. Roby relies on a mid- to upper-90s fastball with a nasty curveball that generates a lot of swings and misses. Health has been his biggest issue, and it could deny him a chance to debut in the big leagues in 2025.

Tekoah Roby Punches Out Six on Thursday

St. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitching prospect Tekoah Roby struck out six batters across 5 2/3 innings of work against Triple-A Charlotte. In this start, Roby picked up the victory as he allowed just six hits, no runs, and one free pass. Since allowing six runs in each of his first starts at Triple-A this season, Roby has flipped the script and been very productive. Over his last 21 innings of work, the No. 10-ranked prospect in the system has posted a near-perfect 0.86 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP. During this stretch, Roby has tallied 21 strikeouts while allowing just five free passes. Earlier this season, Roby logged 47 innings with Double-A and posted a 2.49 ERA with an impressive 0.96 WHIP. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression as he could have a chance to make his MLB debut in the second half.

Tekoah Roby Tosses Six Shutout Frames

St. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitching prospect Tekoah Roby tossed six shutout innings against Norfolk in his third start at the Triple-A level. In this outing, Roby allowed just three hits and one walk. He struck out five. This was a strong bounce-back outing for Roby as he allowed 12 runs and 15 across his first two starts at the Triple-A level. Roby opened the campaign with Double-A Springfield and was quite productive, posting a 2.49 ERA with a stellar 0.96 WHIP. During this stint, the No. 11-ranked prospect in the St. Louis system struck out 57 batters and allowed 11 free passes. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his progress as he could push for a late-season MLB debut, especially if he can turn the corner at Triple-A.

Tekoah Roby Allows Six Runs in First Triple-A Start

St. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect Tekoah Roby allowed six runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out five across 4 2/3 innings against Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday. Roby got hit around in his Triple-A debut and let up a good amount of hard contact. It was positive to see him reach 85 pitches in the outing at least. The 23-year-old was excellent in 47 innings at Double-A Springfield with a 2.49 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and a 57:11 K:BB. Roby ranks as the No. 4 pitching prospect in the Cardinals system on MLB.com. We could see the right-hander make his big-league debut at some point later in the season, and he could be worth keeping an eye on in deeper formats.

Tekoah Roby Promoted to Triple-A

St. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitching prospect Tekoah Roby has been promoted from Double-A Springfield to Triple-A Memphis. Roby, the team's No. 11 prospect per MLB Pipeline, gets the promotion after going 4-2 with a 2.49 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 57:11 K:BB in 47 innings over 10 starts. The 23-year-old former third-rounder by the Texas Rangers in 2020 only managed 10 total starts last year due a shoulder injury, so it's nice to see him bounce back already in 2025. Roby, who stands at 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, could make his major-league debut later this season if he impresses at Memphis. He features a fastball, nasty curveball, slider and changeup. It's nice to see him performing well this season, but the Cardinals will likely want to see him get through a whole year healthy before considering him for their rotation in 2026.

Tekoah Roby Strikes Out Eight in Latest Start

St. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitching prospect Tekoah Roby enjoyed a strong outing against Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Thursday evening. In this start, Roby struck out eight batters across five 1/3 shutout frames. Since allowing four runs on May 3, the No. 11-ranked prospect in St. Louis has been quite effective on the bump. Over his last 20 innings of work, Roby has posted a strong 2.70 ERA with a stellar 0.95 WHIP. During this stretch, the 23-year-old has struck out 30 batters and allowed just two free passes. Through 40 1/3 total frames, Roby has held a solid 2.68 ERA with a 0.99 WHIP. Fantasy managers should expect Roby to compete for a Triple-A promotion later in the season, as he already had a stint at Double-A last summer. He remains on track to reach the majors in 2026.

Tekoah Roby Optioned To Double-A

The St. Louis Cardinals have optioned right-handed pitching prospect Tekoah Roby to Double-A Springfield. The 23-year-old enjoyed a nice spring training where he tallied 10 punchouts with a 3.00 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP across nine innings. While he was not expected to make the Opening Day roster, this strong showing could have opened the door for a nearly promotion to Triple-A. Last season, Roby logged 33 1/3 innings with Double-A Springfield before being shut down with a shoulder injury. During this stint, he held a 6.75 ERA with a 1.65 WHIP. During the 2023 campaign, the former third-round selection held a 4.63 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP across 58 1/3 innings of work at the Double-A level. Dynasty managers should monitor his progress as he may only need a brief stint at Double-A before making his Triple-A debut.

Tekoah Roby Continues To Struggle At Double-A

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitching prospect Tekoah Roby has continued to struggle at the Double-A level through the first half of the 2024 season. Through 33 innings, he posted a 6.75 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, and a 12:33 BB:K ratio. He then was placed on the injured list at the end of May with an undisclosed injury, which may have impacted his performance through the early part of the summer. Last summer, he held a slightly improved 4.63 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 15:59 BB:K ratio across 58 frames at Double-A. Roby is considered the fifth-best prospect in the St. Louis system on MLB.com and was a contender to reach the majors this season but may have to wait until next summer due to his struggles and the nagging injury.
