Ubaldo Jiménez News
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez, who wasn't included on the team's summer camp roster, said that he wants to continue his career. The veteran right-hander was a star for Colorado from 2006 to 2011, but he hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2017 as a member of the Orioles. The 36-year-old Dominican was known for his funky delivery, and he was an All-Star in 2010 when he went 19-8 with a 2.88 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 214 strikeouts and 92 walks in 33 starts (221 2/3 innings). Jimenez is unlikely to have much of a market for his services at this point in his career, and it's unlikely that he'll be fantasy relevant if another team gives him a shot.
Yup. Bad Ubaldo Jimenez showed up again on Friday night. He pitched all of three innings and gave up two homers, including a grand slam to Wilson Ramos. Jimenez let in six runs overall. He's been terrible way more often than not this season and the Rays are going to get another shot at him if Buck Showalter sends him back out there. Avoid him at all costs.
Baseball doesn't make any sense sometimes. Here you have Ubaldo Jimenez, with an ERA of nearly 7.00, going up against the Yankees. This should have been like a pack of bears coming upon a baby seal. Well, the baby seal had fangs today. Jimenez went five innings and struck out 10 in that span. The only mistake he made was a solo homer to Didi Gregorius. Despite his fine effort, his ERA is still 6.57. Don't count on "Good Ubaldo" to come out for his next start.
