Breakdown
The Commanders and Eagles face off for the second time this season, with the Eagles taking the first matchup back in week three, 24-8. The Eagles come into the matchup as double-digit favorites, and for good reason. They have the best record in the league and have looked dominant throughout their first eight games. The Eagles have many weapons on offense and have proven that they can beat you with the run or pass. It all starts with the quarterback, Jalen Hurts. Hurts has been great, passing the ball with 2,042 yards, 12 touchdowns with only two interceptions. He’s added 326 yards and six touchdowns rushing this season. Miles Sanders has impressed this season as well. 656 yards with six touchdowns so far this season for Sanders. Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott will both work in the backfield as well. Let’s not forget about the pass catchers for the Eagles, headlined by A.J Brown. Brown has been a great addition to the offense and is a difference-maker every game. Brown has 718 yards receiving and 6 touchdowns already. Brown has really unlocked the Eagles passing game this season. DeVonta Smith is a very solid second-receiving option. Dallas Goedert is also one of the better pass-catching tight ends in the league and has an impressive 521 yards this season. The Eagles have a balanced offense and can bet you in many ways.
The Commanders offense is a different story in comparison to the Eagles. They do have playmakers on offense, headlined by the elite wide receiver Terry McLaurin, they have just yet to put everything together on offense this season. Taylor Heinicke will be under center, with Carson Wentz still on IR. Heinicke has been serviceable in his 3 starts, racking up 629 yards and 5 touchdowns. He’s also added 1 touchdown with his legs. The Commanders have a trio of solid running backs, Antonio Gibson, Brian Robinson Jr., and J.D McKissic. McKissic serves as the pass-catching back, Robinson Jr. is the ground-and-pound runner, and Gibson is a combination of the two styles. The star of the offense is Terry McLaurin. The electric wide receiver has gone for 609 yards but only two touchdowns. Curtis Samuel is a good compliment receiver, and rookie Jahan Dotson has impressed and is returning from the IR to play in this game.
Keys To Victory
Eagles: Devonta Smith’s involvement. Smith has been very unpredictable so far this season. A.J Brown has been elite and far and away the top target in this offense, but Smith is a talented receiver that could have more utilization in this great offense. The Eagles offense can take another step forward if they can get Smith more consistently involved. Smith went for 169 yards and a touchdown when these teams faced off in week 3.
Commanders: Utilize your star players. Terry McLaurin will most likely have elite cornerback Darius Slay covering him, making for quite the matchup. If McLaurin can still be effective against the good secondary of the Eagles, it will make the game much easier for Heinicke and the offense. Involve Gibson in both the run and passing game of the offense. He is great with the ball in space and has proved vital to the offense’s success.
Prop Bet Pick
A.J Brown Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+115)
Keep riding the hot hand. Brown has 5 touchdowns in his last three games. Brown should see plenty of targets in this game and his large frame makes him a dangerous redzone threat. Brown had 85 yards and a score in week 3 against the Commanders.
DFS Plays
Eagles: Kenneth Gainwell. All of the Eagles main offensive pieces are very expensive to put into your lineup. Gainwell has pass-catching upside and should serve as the number two running back behind Miles Sanders. If the Eagles take a large lead, Gainwell could be utilized even more. Gainwell is coming off a game where he saw 4 carries and hauled in all 3 of his targets. He even managed to score. It’s not flashy but he is a player that should see some chances, and on a team this good offensively, all it could take is a couple of receptions to be worth the salary in your lineups.
Commanders: Jahan Dotson. The Commanders rookie wide receiver has played very well when healthy. Dotson last played in week 4 but in those first few games, he brought in 4 touchdowns. Even though those were with Carson Wentz as the quarterback, I still believe in the talent of Dotson and he costs less than Curtis Samuel to put in your lineup.
