Dyson Daniels Agrees to Four-Year Rookie Contract Extension on Monday

According to Shams Charania of ESPN Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels agreed to a four-year, $100 million rookie contract extension with the franchise on Monday. Daniels was named NBA's Most Improved Player of the Year last season after averaging 14.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists across 33.8 minutes per contest in 76 appearences. He also made first-team All-Defense and finished second-place for Defensive Player of the Year after leading the NBA with 3.0 steals per game.

There is "Distance" Between Hawks, Dyson Daniels in Extension Talks

Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels is eligible for his rookie extension as he enters his fourth year in the NBA and second season with the team. The 22-year-old was named the Most Improved Player of the Year last season and made the All-Defensive First Team, along with a second-place finish for Defensive Player of the Year. With that being said, Daniels and the Hawks have "some distance" in their extension negotiations, according to NBA Insider Jake Fischer. The deadline for rookie extensions falls on October 20, and Daniels received some more negotiating power after the deal that Nikola Jovic received with the Miami Heat. Either way, he'll likely remain in the starting five this year after averaging 14.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 3.0 steals per game while shooting .493 from the floor and .340 from deep.

Dyson Daniels Good To Go Tuesday

Atlanta Hawks guard/forward Dyson Daniels (rest) is not listed on the injury report ahead of Tuesday's play-in game against the Orlando Magic. The defensive specialist is ready to rejoin the action after resting on Sunday against Orlando. Daniels missed only six games during the regular season, which helped him rack up a historic amount of steals. The 22-year-old capped off the campaign with 229 steals, the most a player has had in the NBA in the 21st century. Daniels averaged 3.0 steals per game while notching 14.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. He is set to play a crucial role in Atlanta's quest to get back into the playoffs.

Dyson Daniels Returns To Hawks Lineup Tuesday

Atlanta Hawks guard/forward Dyson Daniels (ankle) is not on the injury report for Tuesday's matchup against the Houston Rockets. He is poised to return from a one-game absence. Daniels leads the NBA in steals this season, and he has also stepped up offensively in recent times. Three of Daniels' five 20-point efforts this season have come in his past five appearances. However, on Tuesday, Daniels faces a top defensive team, making scoring difficult for him.

Dyson Daniels Ruled Out Against Minnesota

Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels (ankle) won't play on Monday against Minnesota. The 21-year-old popped up on the injury report on Monday because of ankle soreness. Unfortunately, he won't be on the floor versus the Timberwolves, joining Trae Young (hamstring), Jalen Johnson (shoulder), and Larry Nance Jr. (hand, injury management) on the shelf. As a result, Zaccharie Risacher (adductor), De'Andre Hunter (illness), Vit Krejci, and Onyeka Okongwu may all benefit from a production standpoint. Keaton Wallace, who was recalled from the G League, could also be in line for added scoring opportunities and minutes.

Dyson Daniels Returning To Action On Wednesday Night

Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels (illness) has been listed as active for Wednesday night's game against the Denver Nuggets. Daniels had missed the last two games with an illness but is able to suit up in Denver on Wednesday. Daniels has been a rewarding fantasy option from a defensive perspective, averaging 3.1 steals per game and 0.9 blocks with the Hawks this season. As an offensive producer, there's a bigger question mark, as he averages just 13.0 points per game. But when combined with his defensive stats, he becomes an intriguing fantasy option. With the Hawks set to play in a high-paced game in Denver and with Atlanta already missing Jalen Johnson, more opportunities may be coming Daniels' way. He's an intriguing option for Wednsday night in all fantasy formats.

Dyson Daniels On Track To Return Versus Nuggets

Atlanta Hawks guard/forward Dyson Daniels (illness) appears ready to rejoin the action on Wednesday versus Denver, with the team listing him as probable for the game. The NBA's steals leader has missed two games due to an illness. Vit Krejci will return to a backup role on Wednesday with Daniels active. The 21-year-old has made himself a name as a defensive specialist, but Daniels also contributes well on the offensive end. He's averaging 13.0 points for the season and has been hot from downtown lately, hitting 7-for-12 from behind the arc across his past three appearances.

Dyson Daniels Sick On Saturday

Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels (illness) won't play on Saturday against the Heat. The 21-year-old is having the best season of his career, averaging 13.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.1 steals. Hopefully, the illness he's dealing with won't keep him off the floor moving ahead. However, with Onyeka Okongwu (knee) and Bogdan Bogdanovic (leg) also sidelined, the door is open for De'Andre Hunter, who had 25 points in Thursday's win over the Bulls, to remain more involved on the scoring end. DFS managers should also consider Larry Nance Jr. and Garrison Mathews for value opportunities.

Dyson Daniels Still Sidelined On Friday

Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels (hip) won't play in Friday's game versus the Kings. The former Pelican has played well in his first four games with the Hawks, averaging 12.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 1.0 blocks. However, he's now dealing with a hip flexor strain, so he'll miss his second consecutive contest of the 2024-25 campaign. With De'Andre Hunter (knee) also out for this one, David Roddy and Zaccharie Risacher could continue to benefit, with the duo combining for 34 points in Wednesday's loss to the Washington Wizards. Garrison Mathews could also see some extra minutes, although he's not a dependable fantasy option.

Dyson Daniels Won't Play Against Washington

Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels (hip) won't play on Wednesday against the Wizards. The former Pelican has a hip flexor strain, which is unfortunate, considering he is averaging career-highs in points (12.8), rebounds (4.3), steals (2.8), and blocks (1.0). The Hawks also won't have Bogdan Bogdanovic (hamstring) and Vit Krejci (adductor) on Wednesday night. At the same time, De'Andre Hunter (knee) is questionable. As a result, Garrison Mathews and Zaccharie Risacher could work their way into the starting lineup while seeing plenty of minutes, giving them value for fantasy managers.
