Pelicans Trade Dyson Daniels To The Hawks

The Hawks acquired guard Dyson Daniels (along with Larry Nance Jr., EJ Liddell, and two first-round picks) from the Pelicans in exchange for Dejounte Murray. While the departure of Murray means Atlanta lost an All-Star-caliber superstar, the Hawks received an up-and-coming player in Daniels, who has shown flashes of promise since entering the league in 2022. He finished last season by averaging 5.8 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.4 steals. However, he was limited to 61 contests after suffering a torn meniscus in his left knee, resulting in surgery. With that in mind, if Daniels gets consistent minutes and avoids the injury report, it's reasonable to assume he could at least double his scoring average from last season.

Dyson Daniels Back On Saturday

New Orleans Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels (knee) will play on Saturday against Boston. The 21-year-old had averaged 5.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.4 steals before going down with a knee injury that resulted in surgery. But after being on the shelf for over a month, he'll be back on the floor, although he may be limited in his first game back. At any rate, with Jose Alvarado (oblique) out, Daniels should see enough work to keep Jordan Hawkin off the floor, giving him some potential as a DFS value option.

Dyson Daniels Listed As Probable For Saturday

New Orleans Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels (knee) appears ready to rejoin the lineup on Saturday versus Boston, as the team has listed him as probable on the injury report. The versatile guard hasn't played since Feb. 8, missing 21 games. However, Daniels returned to game action in the G League earlier in the week and should now also suit up for the Pelicans. The 21-year-old has averaged 5.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 21.9 minutes for the season. With Jose Alvarado (oblique) out of the lineup, Daniels will have an opportunity to pick up extra shifts off the bench, although his minutes might be monitored following his long absence.

Dyson Daniels Remains Out On Thursday But Nearing Return

New Orleans Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels (knee) will be out for a 21st straight game on Thursday versus Milwaukee, but he could be back in the lineup soon after playing in the G League. Daniels, who underwent meniscus surgery in February, had 22 points across 24 minutes in the Birmingham Squadron's 115-99 loss to the Oklahoma City Blue on Wednesday. The versatile guard has averaged 5.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 steals during his sophomore season with the Pelicans. His next chance to make a return to the NBA stage comes on Saturday versus Boston.

Dyson Daniels Out Indefinitely

New Orleans Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels (knee) is out indefinitely. The 2022 No. 8 overall pick has received routine playing time with the Pelicans this season. He's appeared in 52 games, starting 15, averaging 5.5 points and 3.7 rebounds. Although Daniels isn't the most productive offensive option, he's logged 1.4 steals per game, much to the delight of category participants. Nonetheless, several treatment options are being considered, so his outlook for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign will remain a mystery until the team provides an update on his health. Hopefully, fantasy managers won't need to wait long for that.

Dyson Daniels Facilitates Offense In Win

New Orleans Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels produced 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field with eight assists and three rebounds in Tuesday's 82-73 win over the Phoenix Suns. The 20-year-old posted four turnovers, but blocked three shots in the victory. Daniels remains fairly raw offensively after netting just 31.4% of his shots from downtown and 65.0% from the stripe in his 2022-2023 rookie season. The point forward has the potential to be a multi-stat contributor, but the 2023 first-round selection of Jordan Hawkins clouds Daniels' pathway to reserve minutes at the 2 in New Orleans. A first-rounder in his own right, Daniels does have a shot at operating as the backup point guard for the Pelicans next year.

Dyson Daniels To Remain Out On Thursday

New Orleans Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Toronto Raptors. He started out listed as probable, but has now been downgraded to out for Thursday's contest. The 19-year-old guard hasn't played since January 24 and has missed 11 straight games. It appears the organization is going to remain extremely cautious with their young guard. In the meantime, veteran guard/forward Josh Richardson should see increased minutes, which should be a boost to his fantasy value.

Dyson Daniels Out Wednesday

New Orleans Pelicans guard/forward Dyson Daniels (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's clash with the Timberwolves. He hurt his right ankle Tuesday against Denver, and the 19-rookie will have to sit out at least one game. It's a bad blow for Daniels, as he had just started to play a significant role on the team, logging at least 25 minutes of action in six consecutive games. Daniels has averaged less than 20 minutes a night for the season, and the limited playing time hasn't allowed him to do a lot, with him having averaged only 4.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Dyson Daniels Ruled Out For Remainder Of Game

New Orleans Pelicans forward Dyson Daniels (ankle) will not return Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets. An already shorthanded team loses another piece as Daniels suffered a right ankle injury before leaving Tuesday's game. The Pelicans are already without Zion Williamson (hamstring), Brandon Ingram (toe) and Naji Marshall (toe) which lead to Daniels playing more the last few games. Jaxson Hayes, Trey Murphy III and Jose Alvarado should see increased minutes with Daniels out.

Dyson Daniels Dealing With Ankle Injury

New Orleans Pelicans rookie guard Dyson Daniels (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during Saturday's Summer League game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The injury occurred during a play where he drove to the hoop and landed awkwardly on a defender's foot. He was removed from the game after the incident. Luckily, X-rays came back negative and the injury doesn't seem to be anything major. Daniels was the eighth overall pick in this year's draft and the Blazers will likely be cautious with him so there's a good chance we won't see him in Summer League action again. He played just eight minutes in Saturday's game and shot 0-for-5 from the field and 1-for-2 from the free throw line while compiling one point, two assists, one rebound and one steal.
