Onyeka Okongwu Questionable For Meeting With Suns

Atlanta Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu (face) is questionable for Thursday's contest against Phoenix. He has sustained a facial contusion and may have to exit the lineup just five games after returning from a knee injury. Clint Capela will need to be a bit extra if Okongwu misses time, with Dominick Barlow getting a chance to operate as the backup center. Thursday's matchup should be productive for Atlanta's centers, as only 10 teams give up more fantasy points to opposing fives than the Suns.

Onyeka Okongwu Still Out On Saturday

Atlanta Hawks forward Onyeka Okongwu (knee) remains out for Saturday's meeting with the Miami Heat. He'll now miss his fifth consecutive contest because of left knee inflammation, so it's anyone's guess when he will be healthy enough to return. With Bogdan Bogdanovic (leg) and Dyson Daniels (illness) also sidelined, the Hawks will need to go deeper into the bench, meaning De'Andre Hunter, who scored 25 points on Thursday versus the Bulls, and Larry Nance Jr. could continue to benefit from a production standpoint.

Onyeka Okongwu To Remain Sidelined Thursday

Atlanta Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu (knee) will remain out of the lineup on Thursday against Chicago. The talented big man has battled inflammation in his left knee lately and will miss a fourth consecutive game. Larry Nance Jr. has entered the rotation in Okongwu's absence, posting impressive numbers. Working as Clint Capela's backup, Nance Jr. has averaged 11.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.3 blocks across the past three games. The Hawks big men should get plenty of work done on Thursday against a team that gives up the seventh-most fantasy points in the league to opposing centers.

Onyeka Okongwu Out At Least Four Games

Atlanta Hawks forward Onyeka Okongwu (knee) will miss at least four games due to left knee inflammation. He will be re-evaluated in a week. The 24-year-old is currently having the best season of his career, averaging 11.3 points and 6.6 rebounds. But while he's sidelined, Larry Nance Jr. could see some minutes at the five spot. However, Nance has some work to do to gain the trust of fantasy managers, although he's worth considering for rosters if he can make good use of his time on the court.

Onyeka Okongwu Lands On Injury Report

Atlanta Hawks forward Onyeka Okongwu (toe) has been added to the injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. It's the first game of a back-to-back set, so the Hawks might decide to give Okongwu a rest night on Sunday. He has been quiet since his 28-point outing during the season opener. Since then, Okongwu is averaging 8.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.3 blocks over his last four games. Larry Nance Jr. and Dominick Barlow figure to see extended playing time if Okongwu is unable to play on Sunday or Monday.

Onyeka Okongwu Will Not Suit Up On Monday

Atlanta Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu (toe) played in the first half of the team's back-to-back, but will not suit up for the second half on Monday. The big man is listed as out with toe injury management after he played 23 minutes on Sunday and registered 14 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal. We've entered another season waiting for him to become the starter, but Clint Capela remains in the starting five and should see extra minutes on Monday. Larry Nance Jr. will likely see more minutes off of the bench too.

Onyeka Okongwu Remains Unavailable

Atlanta Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu (toe) didn't feature in the team's preseason opener against Indiana on Tuesday. The energetic big man underwent a toe procedure in April and appears to be still recovering from it. The Hawks have their next preseason outing scheduled for Monday. Clint Capela will likely be set for a big workload at the start of the regular season if Okongwu isn't ready to play. The team has also added Larry Nance Jr. and Dominick Barlow to the frontcourt this offseason.

Jalen Johnson, Onyeka Okongwu Likely Done For The Season

The Atlanta Hawks say forward Jalen Johnson (ankle) has a Grade 2 lateral right ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in three weeks, while center Onyeka Okongwu (toe) has undergone a non-surgical procedure to address ongoing inflammation in his left big toe and will be re-evaluated in four weeks. Unless the Hawks go on an unlikely deep playoff run, the timetables effectively rule out the two players for the remainder of the season. Their absences leave significant voids in Atlanta's frontcourt going forward, with Clint Capela having to dominate minutes down low and Bruno Fernando playing the backup center role in Okongwu's stead. Over 18 games without Johnson this season, De'Andre Hunter is putting up 16.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.7 steals, and 2.3 three-pointers per contest and has hit double digits in scoring during each outing.

Onyeka Okongwu Out At Least Another Week

The Atlanta Hawks announced on Monday that center Onyeka Okongwu (toe), following a period of unloading, has resumed individual basketball activities and will be re-evaluated in seven to 10 days. The timetable effectively rules out Okongwu for the remainder of most managers' fantasy seasons, meaning the 23-year-old big man can be dropped across virtually all formats. For leagues that still run through Week 24, Okongwu's earliest possible return date from his sprained left big toe would be April 9 against the Miami Heat. In his stead, Bruno Fernando has assumed backup center duties but hasn't done enough to warrant rostership during the fantasy postseason. Clint Capela, on the other hand, has reached double scoring figures in 12 straight games and submitted 10 double-doubles over this stretch. He'll be an excellent source of blocks, boards, and field-goal percentage the rest of the way.

Onyeka Okongwu Sits Out Sixth Consecutive Game Monday

Atlanta Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu (toe) will be out of the lineup for a sixth consecutive game on Monday versus the Bulls. The talented big man has been limited to just two appearances since Feb. 12 due to a toe injury. Bruno Fernando will continue to roll as Clint Capela's backup. Centers typically get an even workload in Atlanta, and the pair will have a decent matchup on Monday. Chicago's defensive numbers are mediocre across the board, including against opposing bigs. Centers average 22.1 points and 14.6 rebounds per 48 minutes against them, shooting 56.7 percent from the floor.
