Nickeil Alexander-Walker Won't Play on Thursday

Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker (foot) won't play in Thursday's rematch with Washington. The Hawks are also down Jalen Johnson (hip), meaning there will be plenty of shots up for grabs. There are several directions head coach Quin Snyder can go regarding the starting lineup. However, CJ McCollum, Onyeka Okongwu, and Jonathan Kuminga may be the most productive from a fantasy standpoint no matter who gets the start. Kuminga looked fantastic in his first game in Atlanta, amassing 27 points, seven boards, and two steals in 24 minutes.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Tagged as Questionable for Thursday

Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker (foot) is questionable for Thursday's contest against the Washington Wizards. He has landed on the injury report with a sprained left foot. Jalen Johnson (hip) is also questionable for Thursday's action, and the Hawks' offense could have a completely different dynamic if both Alexander-Walker and Johnson miss the game. CJ McCollum and Jonathan Kuminga would handle more of the offense, while Corey Kispert and Gabe Vincent could see their minutes increase. There might be a larger role for Zaccharie Risacher (hip) as well, but he's also questionable to play.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Available Versus Philly

Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker (ankle) is available for Sunday's game versus the 76ers. He popped up on the injury report because of a sprained right ankle, although the issue won't be enough to cause his first absence of the 2025 campaign. The 27-year-old is easily having the best season of his career, averaging 20.7 points while shooting 39.1% from behind the arc. With Kristaps Porzingis (illness) out again, Alexander-Walker should continue to benefit on the scoring end, even with a difficult contest up ahead.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Upgraded To Probable For Matchup Versus Kings

Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker (back) has been upgraded to probable, putting him in line to return to the lineup on Wednesday night. Alexander-Walker has missed the last two games with his back issue. Before that, the Hawks' offseason acquisition was starting at point guard for the injured Trae Young (knee). NAW is averaging a career-best 17.6 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 stocks per game, while getting to the free throw at his most efficient clip. The Hawks swept the Los Angeles teams without Alexander-Walker. He and the Hawks continue their West Coast trip with a matchup against the Kings.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Questionable with Back Spasms

Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker (back) is questionable for Wednesday's matchup against the Kings after missing the last two games. Before the injury, he was thriving in an expanded role without Trae Young, averaging 17.6 points, 3.2 assists, 2.6 rebounds, 1.0 steal, and 2.0 threes in just over thirty minutes per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 85.0 percent from the line. If cleared, Alexander-Walker should reclaim his starting spot and continue as one of Atlanta's top scoring options. If he remains out, Keaton Wallace will likely stay at point guard, offering assists and energy when given steady minutes, while Dyson Daniels shifts to shooting guard with added playmaking responsibility. Vit Krejci and Luke Kennard can also provide three-point help in deeper formats. Alexander-Walker remains a hold across most leagues due to his scoring consistency and opportunity.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Iffy for Monday

Atlanta Hawks guard/forward Nickeil Alexander-Walker (back) is considered questionable for Monday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. Due to a back issue, Alexander-Walker was forced to drop out of the lineup for Saturday's matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers, and he may remain out on Monday night. If he can't return, Keaton Wallace will likely make a second consecutive start. He shot only 5-for-15 from the field against the Lakers, but overall, he did a decent job, amassing 14 points, two rebounds, seven assists, and one steal in 36 minutes.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Listed As Questionable For Saturday Against Lakers

Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker (back) is listed as questionable for Saturday night's matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. Walker is dealing with a lower back strain, though it hasn't caused him to miss any time this season. Given Atlanta is on the second leg of a back-to-back it may not be surprising to see the Hawks rest the 27-year-old, though he's been a very solid offensive player for Atlanta this season. If he's not in the lineup, they will need to find a way to replace his 17.6 PPG in a tough matchup against the Lakers. Fantasy managers should monitor his status and check in prior to tip-off. If he's out, expect Keaton Wallace and Vit Krejci to get extended minutes.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Expected to Take on Larger Offensive Role With Hawks

Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker is set to play a significant offensive role on his new team. "The Hawks' coaching staff has worked closely with Alexander-Walker in Toronto ahead of taking on a more expanded offensive role than he held with the Minnesota Timberwolves," Grant Afseth of RG reports. Alexander-Walker has mostly been known for his defense so far during his career, averaging only 8.8 points and 2.3 assists in 20.8 minutes. However, it looks like he will have the ball more in his hands in Atlanta. Afseth mentions that Alexander-Walker will likely have "consistent ball-handling responsibilities" alongside another new member of the team, Luke Kennard. This could lead to a breakout campaign for Alexander-Walker from a fantasy perspective.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Lands in Atlanta

The Atlanta Hawks have signed free-agent guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker to a massive deal on Monday. According to Shams Charania, Alexander-Walker is signing a four-year, $62 million deal with the Hawks. Alexander-Walker has spent each of the last two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, it seemed unlikely that they were going to bring him back after signing Naz Reid and Julius Randle to contract extensions. That being said, Alexander-Walker leaves and gets a nice payday with Atlanta. Last season, Alexander-Walker averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists across 25.3 minutes per game in 82 games. The 26-year-old is a solid two-way player that should help this Hawks unit that isn't known for their defense.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Targeted by Magic

Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Nickeil Alexander-Walker is seen as a potential target for the Orlando Magic this offseason. NBA insider Marc Stein has noted that Orlando "is a team to watch as a potential suitor" for Alexander-Walker, who is wrapping up a two-year, $9 million contract and will be an unrestricted free agent. Alexander-Walker is coming off a solid year with the Timberwolves, having averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 25.3 minutes off the bench. He shot 38.1 percent from downtown on 4.5 attempts and improved his stock during the playoffs with a couple of 20-point outings. The Magic were by far the worst three-point shooting team in the league this season, making Alexander-Walker a good fit for them. However, his move to Florida likely won't affect Alexander-Walker's fantasy value, since his role will probably remain the same as it has been with the Timberwolves.
