Georges Niang Set to Miss at Least Two Weeks

Utah Jazz forward Georges Niang (foot) will be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. The team announced that Niang suffered a fourth metatarsal stress reaction in his left foot during offseason training and conditioning. He is scheduled for re-evaluation in two weeks. This marks a setback for Niang ahead of his return to Utah. He'll be expected to help improve the team's poor 35 percent three-point shooting from last year. Niang himself shot 40.6 percent from distance across 79 appearances with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks. He averaged a career-high 9.9 points while grabbing 3.4 rebounds in 21.5 minutes.

Georges Niang Returns to Utah

The Utah Jazz have agreed to acquire forward Georges Niang in a trade with the Boston Celtics. In another money-saving move, the Celtics are trading away Niang and two future second-round picks for rookie guard/forward RJ Luis Jr., who the Jazz signed to a two-way deal after he went undrafted in June. Niang will pack his bags for the second time this offseason. Boston picked him up last month from the Atlanta Hawks in the Kristaps Porzingis trade. Early in his career, Niang spent four campaigns with the Jazz. He will add veteran presence and three-point shooting to the squad but isn't expected to be a fantasy factor. Last season, Niang shot 40.6 percent from deep to average 9.9 points in 21.5 minutes across 79 games with the Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Georges Niang Lands in Boston

The Boston Celtics have acquired forward Georges Niang from the Atlanta Hawks. Boston decided to part ways with Kristaps Porzingis and agreed to a three-team deal with the Hawks and Brooklyn Nets. In the transaction, the team acquired Niang along with a second-round draft pick. Niang finds himself on the move for the second time this year, as Atlanta picked him up in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers in February. The Celtics mainly made the move for financial reasons, but Niang could find some success on the team as a good three-point shooter. He knocked down 40.6 percent of his triples this season on 5.2 attempts.

Georges Niang Off The Injury Report

Atlanta Hawks forward Georges Niang (rest) is off the injury report and ready to play on Tuesday against the Orlando Magic. The Hawks rested Niang on Sunday against the Magic but will bring him back into the lineup for the crucial play-in game. After landing in Atlanta from the Cleveland Cavaliers in February, Niang has carved out a solid role for himself in the rotation, posting 12.1 points with 41.3 percent shooting from downtown. Additionally, he has recorded 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in 23.0 minutes. However, Niang has notched only 8.0 points in 21.8 minutes against Orlando's tough defense this season.

Georges Niang Ruled Out For Monday

Atlanta Hawks forward Georges Niang (illness) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Niang has seen more time on the court since being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers at the deadline. His absence opens up additional playing time for Mouhamed Gueye and Terance Mann in the rotation. Between the two, Mann is the better streaming choice ahead of Monday's contest. Mann has scored 13 points or more in each of the last three games. The 28-year-old has also played 26 minutes or more during that span, so he figures to see more of a role during Monday's game.

Georges Niang Unavailable Friday For Hawks

Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports that Atlanta Hawks forward Georges Niang won't debut with his new club on Friday versus the Milwaukee Bucks. The trade that recently sent him from the Cavs is still being finalized. Niang's next chance to play is on Saturday on the road versus the Wizards in Washington. The 31-year-old, across 51 games in Cleveland, averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 20.6 minutes per contest. His role with his new team is uncertain, so he will likely have a limited impact on fantasy for now.

Georges Niang Joins The Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks acquired forward Georges Niang along with Caris LeVert, three second-round picks, and two swaps in exchange for De'Andre Hunter. Hunter became expendable after the emergence of Jalen Johnson before his season-ending shoulder injury and the strong rookie showing of No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher. Niang and LeVert could help fill in while Johnson is out, but more likely they'll mix into the second unit behind Risacher. Niang played 51 games for the Cavs this season, starting just one contest. He averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in his 20.6 minutes per game. If he steps into a larger role, he could be a decent source of three-pointers and rebounds, but his role with his new team is uncertain at this point.

Georges Niang Says Cleveland Is A 'Perfect Fit'

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Georges Niang spoke to The Eagle-Tribune and was thrilled about his role on his new team. The veteran forward said "They have some really good young talent and were looking for a veteran shooter and I was looking for a team that is dedicated to winning. It's a perfect fit." The 30-year-old is coming off two of the best seasons of his career as he filled a bench shooter role perfectly for the 76ers. Now, he gets a chance to do the same alongside Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and Donovan Mitchell.

Georges Niang Signs With Cavs

According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Georges Niang is signing a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. It will be a three-year, $26 million deal, but it hasn't been reported whether it contains a player option. The 30-year-old forward was a good role player the last few seasons and a key member on several playoff teams. He averaged 8.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 78 games for the 76ers last season. The Cavaliers have struggled to get production from the wing position, so this signing surely should help.

Georges Niang Getting Some Interest From Cleveland

The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking for some backup shooters and Georges Niang is reportedly on the list of free-agent targets. According to Matt Moore of Action Network, the Cavaliers are targeting the likes of Niang, Eric Gordon, and Max Strus to help with some of their bench woes. Niang has spent his last two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers where he produced two of his best years in his seven-year career. He's shot 40% or higher from beyond the arc in each of the last five seasons and posted a 40.1% mark last year. The 76ers will likely offer him a new contract, but they can't afford to pay him that much with their roster still in flux.
