Jakob Poeltl’s Return Not Imminent

Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (hand) is doing light on-court work in practice but is still not cleared for contact. Still not using his surgically-repaired left hand, Poeltl's return to the floor is not imminent. The 23-49 Raptors have dropped 11 games in a row, so managers stashing the 28-year-old Austrian big man shouldn't be planning to have him available later during the fantasy playoffs. Playmaking center Kelly Olynyk has started each of Toronto's latest 11 matchups, providing 13.7 points, 5.5 boards, 5.5 assists, 1.1 triples, and 2.2 combined steals plus blocks but is hurting nine-category players with 3.4 turnovers per game across this period. He'll be a much better bet in points leagues the rest of the way, but Olynyk will next face a vaunted New York Knicks defense that's permitting the fewest FanDuel points to enemy centers.

Jakob Poeltl Out Indefinitely Following Surgery

Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (finger) will miss a second consecutive contest on Thursday versus Phoenix and is considered out indefinitely after undergoing surgery. He suffered a ligament tear in the fifth finger of his left hand versus Charlotte on Sunday. With not long to go until the end of the regular season, it's possible Poeltl is now done for the year. Kelly Olynyk has taken over as the starting center in Toronto. He had 15 points, six rebounds, seven assists, two blocks, and two minutes in his first start with the team on Tuesday versus New Orleans.

Jakob Poeltl Out Against Pelicans

Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (finger) is out for Tuesday's meeting with the New Orleans Pelicans. The dislocated left pinky finger that Poeltl suffered in Sunday's win over the Charlotte Hornets will keep him out on Tuesday, and it's not the most promising sign to see him ruled out so far in advance of tip-off. Over the 28-year-old Austrian big man's last 13 games, he ranks as a sixth-round fantasy asset in nine-category leagues with averages of 12.8 points on 60.0% shooting from the field, 9.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.8 blocks. Poeltl should be deemed day-to-day for now, with his next opportunity to suit up coming on Thursday against the Phoenix Suns. Look for Kelly Olynyk to draw the spot start at center in a tough matchup against a strong Pelicans defense that ranks seventh in defensive efficiency rating (110.2) in the Association this year.

Jakob Poeltl Leaves Sunday With Dislocated Finger

Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (finger) left the game against the Charlotte Hornets in the second quarter with a dislocated pinky finger. During his 15 minutes of playing time, Poeltl finished with eight points, three assists, two rebounds, one block, and one turnover while shooting 4-for-6 from the floor. The veteran big man has provided a much-needed inside presence since returning from injury. In the 13-game stretch since then, he's averaged 12.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 1.5 turnovers per game. Kelly Olynyk has seen some added opportunities and should move into the starting five if Poeltl has to miss any more time. Jontay Porter would also get some more minutes from the bench.

Jakob Poeltl Cleared For Wednesday's Game

Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (ankle) will suit up ahead of Wednesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. The big man has been cleared to play after being listed as questionable heading into this game. Poeltl is expected to fulfill his normal role in the rotation. Kelly Olynyk figures to come off the bench, so he won't have great streaming appeal in that role.

Jakob Poeltl Participates In Shootaround

Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (ankle) was getting shots up Wednesday at shootaround with no brace on his ankle. Poeltl is officially listed as questionable for Wednesday's tilt versus the Dallas Mavericks, but his participation in the morning session bodes well for his ability to suit up. Since Chris Boucher (illness) is also up in the air to play, Kelly Olynyk could end up being Toronto's starting center and a strong streaming option in fantasy hoops against a Mavericks group that sits 27th in opponent rebounding percentage (48.0%).

Jakob Poeltl Listed As Questionable For Wednesday

Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (ankle) is considered questionable for Wednesday's tilt against Dallas. The Austrian giant sprained his left ankle in Monday's contest versus Indiana and could now be unavailable for the first time this month. Poeltl's absence would open the door for Kelly Olynyk to enter the starting lineup, and the versatile veteran would be a solid streaming option for managers on Wednesday. In eight starts this season, Olynyk has posted 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.9 assists.

Jakob Poeltl Injures Ankle On Monday

Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (ankle) was injured in Monday's meeting with the Pacers and didn't return. The 28-year-old lasted only 22 minutes before tweaking his left ankle. However, he was still productive, ending the night with 15 points, 10 boards, and one block. The Raptors' next game is Wednesday, so fantasy managers could be without him. If Poeltl doesn't suit up, which is certainly possible, Kelly Olynyk needs to be featured in all fantasy lineups.

Jakob Poeltl Not Spotted On Injury Report

Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (ankle) is not seen on the team's injury report leading into Monday's matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Monday is the second end of Toronto's back-to-back, and Poeltl just returned to play in Friday's defeat to the Houston Rockets following an 11-game absence due to a sprained left ankle. The 28-year-old Austrian big man was out there for 33 minutes during Sunday's double-overtime loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, so the 17-32 Raptors may keep on eye on his playing time on Monday if the game gets out of hand. While that caveat poses some DFS risk, it shouldn't deter season-long fantasy managers from starting Poeltl, who is supplying top-100 numbers in nine-category leagues by averaging 10.7 points on 69.1% shooting from the field, 8.3 rebounds, 2.6 dimes, and 1.4 blocks in 38 showings for the Raps.

Jakob Poeltl Will Return Against Houston

Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (ankle) will return for Friday's meeting with the Houston Rockets. The 26-year-old hasn't played in nearly a month, missing time because of an ankle injury. He'll likely be limited in his first game back, so his DFS ceiling isn't as high as usual. But Poeltl should be inserted back into all fantasy lineups, with Thaddeus Young expected to see considerably fewer minutes.
