Kawhi Leonard News
According to Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank, forward Kawhi Leonard (knee) will be ready to start the 2023-24 campaign. The 31-year-old was diagnosed with a torn meniscus during the postseason series against the Phoenix Suns, keeping him off the floor for the final three games. Fortunately, his "ACL is intact," so some rest and rehab could be enough to get him back to 100%. Leonard averaged 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and shot 41.6% from deep last season. However, he was limited to only 52 games. Without question, Leonard has top-10 upside for fantasy managers in all formats. But his durability has been a constant issue, so his fantasy stock should continue to trend south heading into next season.
Los Angeles Clippers forwards Kawhi Leonard (knee) and Paul George (shoulder) both missed a majority of the recent playoff series against the Phoenix Suns. George missed the entire series, while Leonard only played in the first two games of the series. Since joining the team in 2019, Leonard has only played in 161 games, while George has played in 189 games for Los Angeles. This team is built to win a championship, but the two best players on the roster cannot stay healthy. Despite that, the organization remains committed to Leonard and George going forward. It was recently announced that Leonard has torn meniscus in his right knee. It remains to be seen what kind of shape he'll be in heading into training camp.
Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard (knee) was forced to sit out the series against the Phoenix Suns since Game 2 when the training staff found that he had a torn meniscus in his right knee. Unfortunately, that was the same knee where he tore his ACL and had to miss all of last season. The meniscus plays a big part as the shock absorber of the knee, so tearing that would have left him more susceptible to another ACL injury if he played on it. Leonard and the training staff will now look into what needs to be done to fix it for next year.
Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard (knee) will miss the potential series-clinching game on Tuesday due to the sprained right knee that has kept him out since Game 2. The 31-year-old, unfortunately, won't be able to power through any pain to try to force a Game 6 with Russell Westbrook and company. While he and Paul George (knee) both remain out, Norman Powell, Eric Gordon, and Terance Mann should all see more minutes and more production.
