Svi Mykhailiuk News
Toronto Raptors guard Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk exercised his $1.9 million player option. After averaging 10.3 points in 2020-21 in OKC, the 25-year-old wasn't as effective for the Raptors last season, averaging just 4.6 points and shooting a rough 30.6% from behind the arc. He isn't expected to draw any fantasy interest for the 2022-23 campaign, primarily since he will probably continue to be a deep bench option for the team. While that could change if someone gets injured, it won't do much for his fantasy stock heading into October.
Toronto Raptors shooting guard Gary Trent Jr. (calf) will be unavailable for Tuesday's contest against Memphis, allowing Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk to remain among the starting five. Starting in place of Trent on Sunday, Mykhailiuk dropped 12 points and snagged eight rebounds across 38 minutes, an indication of the role that he could play Tuesday. The matchup is particularly tantalizing for Mykhailiuk's DFS prospects due to the Grizzlies' league-worst 39.6 opponents' three-point percentage. When healthy, Trent has been an early-season breakout star for Toronto, on pace to set a new career high at 17.3 points per game. His next chance to suit up comes Thursday vs. Milwaukee.
Free-agent guard Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk agreed to a two-year deal with the Raptors on Saturday, with one of them being a player option. The 24-year-old began the 2020-21 season in Oklahoma City before heading to Detroit, where he averaged 6.9 points, 2.1 boards, and 1.6 assists throughout 36 games in the Motor City. He isn't expected to serve in a prominent role in Toronto this year. However, the sophomore will likely draw a start here or there, although he won't have consistent fantasy value moving ahead.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk will enter the starting five with Luguentz Dort (shoulder) sidelined Wednesday. Mykhailiuk should be headed for 25-plus minutes against the Warriors, a workload that has yielded double-figure scoring efforts from the 23-year-old each time this season. Golden State allows the 13th-most points per game to shooting guards, so Mykhailiuk makes for an interesting DFS play on Wednesday night, given his three-and-D ability.
