Carlos Dunlap News
Free-agent defensive end Carlos Dunlap remains without a team, but he plans on continuing his career and wants to sign with a team that has a shot at winning a Super Bowl title. "I can help another team get one of their own or help the Chiefs again," Dunlap said. "The Chiefs haven't ruled that out, but currently it's a waiting game." The 34-year-old played a rotational role in Kansas City last year on the way to winning his first Super Bowl championship. He started in only two games but still played 537 defensive snaps, recording 39 tackles, four sacks, eight passes defensed and one forced fumble. At this point in his career, Dunlap is willing to take a lesser role in exchange for a spot on a team with a serious chance at making a deep run in the postseason.
Veteran free-agent defensive end Carlos Dunlap signed a one-year deal worth up to $8 million on Thursday with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Dunlap was released by the Seattle Seahawks in March after he totaled 8.5 sacks, 35 tackles (24 solo), eight tackles for loss, 14 QB hits, seven passes defensed and one forced fumble in 17 games (two starts) for Seattle in 2021. The 33-year-old still has some juice left in the tank and will be a nice veteran option for Kansas City's offensive line this year behind rookie George Karlaftis.
Free-agent defensive lineman Carlos Dunlap is visiting with the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday night, according to a source. Dunlap was released by the Seattle Seahawks in March after he recorded 35 tackles (24 solo), 8.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, 14 QB hits, seven passes defensed and one forced fumble in 17 games (two starts) in 2021. The former second-rounder of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010 out of the University of Florida has 96 career sacks in 12 NFL seasons, and the two-time Pro Bowler showed last year that he can still get it done at a high level. Aside from the Chiefs, Dunlap also visited with the Carolina Panthers earlier this offseason.
