Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones (shoulder) didn't practice on Wednesday, but head coach Adam Gase said Jones is day-to-day. Jones has six tackles and two interceptions on the season and is a top IDP safety when he's healthy. His absence would be an upgrade to Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and the deep passing game, including receivers Amari Cooper and Martavis Bryant.
The Miami Dolphins restructured the contract of safety Reshad Jones on Wednesday, creating $6.6 million in salary cap space, according to a source. He drops his base salary from $9.375 million to $970,000 while also receiving a $4.05 million signing bonus. Jones will collect the same amount of money when all is said and done. The 30-year-old is an integral part of Miami's secondary, as he led the team in tackles (122) while also recording 1.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
Coming off their best performance of the season in an unexpected victory, the Dolphins defense took a huge blow with the news that Reshad Jones will miss the remainder of the season. Jones, a Pro Bowl safety, was not just the anchor of a struggling secondary - he was the Dolphins' best player on the defensive side of the ball. Miami currently ranks 31st in rushing YPG allowed and 26th in passing YPG. Miami's defense was already unplayable in fantasy leagues, but opponents may now be feasting more than ever, starting with LeSean McCoy and company in Week 7.
