The Carolina Panthers have signed defensive back Anthony Brown on Saturday. The organization has reportedly signed Brown after having the veteran defensive back do a workout for the team this weekend. The 30-year-old has spent a majority of his career as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. His best season came in 2021 when he recorded three interceptions and 59 tackles in 16 games. He should provide solid depth for the Panthers defense heading into the regular season.
Veteran cornerback Anthony Brown was signed to the San Francisco 49ers' active roster on Tuesday. Brown was released from the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad on September 14, so he quickly found a new home. The 29-year-old defensive back suffered a torn Achilles in Week 13 of last season with the Dallas Cowboys but looks to make an impact for the 49ers in short order. Brown posted nine interceptions and 59 passes defended in 94 games for Dallas after being selected in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Dallas Cowboys defensive back Anthony Brown was working as the first-team slot cornerback in organized team activities. Brown allowed the most touchdowns in the entire NFL last season while playing as an outside corner, so the move makes sense. When filling in at slot corner last season, usually for the injured Orlando Scandrick, Brown looked much better. Chidobe Awuzie and Byron Jones were seen being used as the outside corners on the first-team defense.
