The New York Jets signed free-agent wide receiver Deonte Thompson to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to agent David Canter. Thompson had 17 catches for 161 yards and no touchdowns in 13 combined games with the Bills and Cowboys in the 2018 season. He'll merely be receiver depth for Gang Green if he even makes the final roster out of training camp.
The Buffalo Bills signed free-agent wide receiver Deonte Thompson to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Thompson had 14 catches on 20 targets for 124 scoreless yards for Dallas before he was waived. Thompson played 11 games with the Bills in 2017 and caught 27 passes for 430 yards and a touchdown. Even with Buffalo's receiving group being very thin, don't expect Thompson to carve out much of a role.
Deonte Thompson, DeMarcus Lawrence Active In Week 6
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Deonte Thompson (hamstring) and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence (shoulder) are both active for Week 6 against the Jaguars. Thompson and the Cowboys receivers just can't be trusted in a very tough matchup against an elite Jacksonville secondary. Lawrence may need offseason surgery to fix a torn labrum in his shoulder, but he will continue to play through it. He already has 5.5 sacks this year and remains a must-start in IDP leagues. Wideout Brice Butler and tight end Dalton Schultz are healthy scratches.
Dallas Cowboys wide receivers Deonte Thompson (hamstring) and Brice Butler (groin) were both added to the injury report on Friday as limited practice participants and are questionable for Week 6 against the Jaguars. Both Thompson and Butler are depth for what has become the league's worst receiving corps. Thompson has caught 11 of his 16 targets for 102 yards, while Butler has yet to catch a pass this year. Both can continue being ignored for fantasy purposes.
The Dallas Cowboys re-signed wide receiver Deonte Thompson and rookie running back Bo Scarbrough on Monday after cutting them over the weekend. Thompson signed a one-year deal with a $1 million signing bonus, while Scarbrough was added to the practice squad. Dallas also placed wideout Noah Brown (hamstring) on Injured Reserve. Thompson had 38 catches with Buffalo last year but won't be fantasy relevant at the bottom of the team's weak receiving corps.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Deonte Thompson has a slight advantage for one of the final roster spots. The Cowboys are expected to keep just six receivers, with Allen Hurns, Cole Beasley, Tavon Austin, Terrance Williams and rookie Michael Gallup all virtual locks. Thompson will still need a strong finish to training camp, but he's missed most of the last week with a strained Achilles after initially seeing some first-team repetitions in camp. Thompson is battling with receivers Lance Lenoir and Noah Brown. Thompson had 38 catches for 555 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games between the Bears and Bills last season. There is opportunity in Dallas, but there are just too many bodies ahead of him on the depth chart right now.
The Dallas Cowboys agreed to terms on a one-year, $2.5 million contract with free agent wide receiver Deonte Thompson. The 29-year-old has been with Baltimore, Chicago, and Buffalo, and played well last season as a Bill, coming down with 27 passes for 430 yards and a touchdown in 11 games. If the Cowboys depth chart remains the same, Thompson should slot into Brice Butler's spot as the fourth wide receiver, although he may have a chance to move up if he performs well.
Free-agent wide receiver Deonte Thompson is visiting the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday. Thompson ended up as one of the biggest playmakers in the Buffalo passing game last season, catching 27 passes for 430 yards and a touchdown in 11 games. He'd likely serve as a deep threat in Dallas if he signs with the Cowboys, replacing Brice Butler, who is a free agent. The Cowboys have a lot of work to do in their receiving corps. Thompson isn't the answer on his own, but he could be part of an improved passing game if the Cowboys continue to add.
LeSean McCoy, Deonte Thompson Questionable Against Jaguars
Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy (ankle) and wide receiver Deonte Thompson (shoulder) were both limited in practice Friday and are questionable for the Wild-Card game against the Jaguars. McCoy was carted off with an ankle injury in Week 17 and is believed to be a game-time decision for this one. He has slightly improved this week, but even if he does play, he'll probably be at way less than 100 percent, making him an extremely risky fantasy commodity. Buffalo could be forced to throw more often, but none of the Bills pass catchers are particularly intriguing against the best pass defense in the NFL this year.
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Deonte Thompson (shoulder) is active for Week 17 against the Dolphins. Thompson suffered an injury in practice this week, but it obviously wasn't serious enough to keep him out of a must-win game this weekend. The Dolphins have been much better against opposing wideouts to close out the year, and Kelvin Benjamin will remain quarterback Tyrod Taylor's No. 1 receiving option. Thompson is a desperation flex play in the deepest of leagues.
